Ive got a 2014 gmc sierra that rattles in very specific circumstances and need help figuring it out as ive tried everything in my knowledge to figure out whats wrong. There is a rattling i can audibly hear and feel coming directly from my steering wheel or traveling from the steering column. It occurs when going over bumpy roads (less than 30 mph), when traveling on a curved road and have the steering wheel turned to the right, or at times when braking.
Ive replaced the intermediate steering shaft, uca and lca, new front shocks, new swaybar links and bushings, and tie rods. None of those seemed to help or lessen the noise. I’m not sure if the noise is harming the vehicle in any way or if its just something i have to deal with. Although I believe the tie rods are bad again i dont think thats the source of the problem. A theory i have is the steering wheel isnt sitting correctly or the nut that holds the steering wheel is loose. If anyone has any information at all or any ideas as to what the issue is would be very helpful, thank you.
