  1. We are a paint protection film installer in Dallas TX (https://ceramicfx.com). Air bubbles do not over time, this is not true. How will the air get underneath the PPF? PPF is not air permeable. It is also not true that PPF doesn't stick that area. It sticks and does not peel off. If it is not a brand new truck, however, I would thoroughly clean that area with ethanol before installing the film.
  2. We are a local detail shop in Dallas TX (https://ceramicfx.com). This is a known issue of black GM paint (Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, Escalade etc.). Here are some pictures from our archive. The first five are from an Escalade., and the other three are from a 2015 Yukon.
  3. After ceramic coating, buffing out the car wash scratches become relatively more difficult, however, it is not completely true that you have to take some clear coat to remove the ceramic coating. The thickness of a ceramic coating is less than 1/100 of the OEM paint. To speed up the paint correction process, we sometimes use a very fine grit sanding disc (5000 or 8000 grit) but in this case, the reduction in overall paint thickness will be most likely 1%, if your detailer knows what he is doing. If you are new to multi-stage paint correction (wet sanding, heavy compounding etc.), you can find some detailed information here: https://ceramicfx.com/services/paint-correction/ At the end of the day, if you are considering ceramic coating, you do not have to worry about removing the scratches if you have a good detailer.
  4. We are a PPF installer in Dallas, Texas and we use STEK DYNOshield on our installations - as it is the best film on the market right now. As you mentioned, it is a hydrophobic film and differs from the other films on the market with its manufacturing technology (impregnated vs. laminated). No other film on the market right now has the gloss and hydrophobicity of STEK DYNOshield. Here you can find some information about how it compares to other films on the market: https://ceramicfx.com/services/ppf-clear-bra-dallas/ https://ceramicfx.com/best-clear-bra-dallas-texas/ Hope this would be helpful. GM trucks' paint (especially Silverado's) is less resistant to chipping, compared to other makes (RAM and Ford). If your truck's wheel sticks out like the 2500 HD below, PPF is almost a must if you want to prevent chipping. This truck came with only 200 miles on it, and before installing PPF, we found 8 to 10 chips on the side panels. Not surprising. The owner told us that he drove it on a gravel road several times in the first 200 miles.
