  1. Hello, I have a 2005 Silverado 1500 and am towing a trailer. I purchased a AMTIFO RV Backup Camera Wireless HD 1080P 7 Inch DVR Monitor 4 Channel Bluetooth Trailer Rear View Camera System Infrared Night Vision Reverse Camera for Furrion Pre-Wired RVs A8 from Amazon for the rear of the trailer. Little did I know I got a free wireless license plate camera with that purchase. I wired it into the license plate lights so the headlights need to be on for it to function but it did a perfect job in helping me back up to the tongue. Both work perfectly. Best of Luck!
  2. I used the product from Sylvania. Used it on my Bosses car and my truck. I was impressed with the outcome, not much with the labor involved.
  3. Hi. I opted to go with an LED strip under the hood which came with on/off switch. In my work box, I bought an LED strip fed off of a 9V battery which has a mechanism much like a window alarm. They have to be lined up to make or break the connection. Other than having to carry spare 9V batteries, I am happy. If yours is similar to my garage door open alert, the mechanism inside needs to be at a certain angle to make contact. Best of luck!
  4. I just to the Nutty Company here in Milford, CT and got the bolts and nuts for all as I replaced the center stationary jump seat with a "pick and pull" combo jump seat and console AND I do not have E bolt sockets. They are non-metric, but that is the least of my concern. Best of luck!
  5. 2005 Silverado WT 4.8. Recently purchased and restoring. 209K, I am at 40 PSI after additive and changing the oil with high mileage conventional oil. It was lower. Appreciate the information, but just another "thing" i should look at. 40 PSI is in the middle of the gauge and what I was taught, middle is good. I have read about 60 PSI? Would anyone know what the correct oil pressure should be ? TIA KC
  6. 2005 Chevy Silveradao 1500 WT 4X4 extended cab. 4.8L 209K I am in the process of restoring her and recently heard what sounds likes a light touch horn beep when I FIRST start it up after sitting through the night. After that I can stop and start with no sound what so ever. I have to replace the Power Steering cooling unit (leak) but I am wondering if maybe this is a sign that the power steering pump needs attention? Maybe Air in the PS system? Any help/suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.
  7. I tried to replaced my 3rd brake/cargo lights with LED's. Wife said they looked ok. Went to check the other day and no cargo lights. I trouble shot and found that with only 1 LED and the old bulb everything was good. But 2 LED;s, Not happening. I bought a whole new one for $35. It is smoked and not OE, wish I had searched some more because I found some OEM look a likes for $3 less. Oh well.
  8. My 2005 209K came with hitch and 7 wire harness. From what I have read, you need an intermediate part to apply electric brakes to the trailer.
  9. For my 2005 Silverado 1500 Ext. Cab 4.8L, I bought it from carpartsdotcom. It was $175.99, they do not charge a core charge upfront. I just looked now and their price went up to $193. Made by A1 Cardone and IMO, have a reputation for quality parts. I just checked Rock Auto and theirs is $175 + core upfront. That and it is a re=manufactured one from A1 Cardone. Mine was NEW
  10. And using a penetrate and hitting those brake lines is not my idea of Fun
  11. Cab mounts are done. I did buy a matching Dorman 924-335 just for position 3 under the extended cab. While I had never driven it enough to notice that it should appear (based upon what I have heard) stiffer. At least I know what I am riding on. Take care all...
  12. Hey Dan, I have the same truck and the same issues. I just do not have the equipment, expertise nor money at this point in time after all I have invested in her. I bought "2 Packages Rocker Panels Extended Cab&Cab Corners (Pair) For 99-07 Chevy Silverado GMC Sierra 4DR Extended Cab" from Amazon at $101. I had thought the were bolt on but found out they were the real deal. I cannot speak to the quality although they seemed heavy duty. After I took them out of the box and realized what they were, I returned them. I wish you all the best. Please let me know how you make out.
  13. I order it from carparts.com and gave them the mileage and then the manufacturer "Cardone" pre-programmed it. Funny thing though, I had told the person at carparts.com that the mileage was 208,130 and it came programmed as 200,813. Oh well,, I gained (or lost) almost 8K.....
  14. Hello all, All my cab mounts were a complete mess and needed replacements. First question is in regards to the black plastic inverted funnel (see picture). After removing the bolts (most were not salvageable and raising the body to get the old mount and bushings out, I had noticed this piece on the garage floor and initially had no clue where it came from. Thinking it was just some part from all the other stuff in my garage, I ignored it until I came to the next to last mount I removed and wouldn't you know, that piece was still stuck to the frame. I am assuming it is a guide to get the bolt up into the body. But does anybody know what it is and/or part number? what its real function is? and more importantly, is it really needed? I did save 5 of the 6. Probably threw the first 1 in the trash but somehow just threw the rest of them in a bucket other miscellaneous plastic parts. Anyway,I purchased "7-141 Body and Cab Mount Bushing Kit Compatible with 1999-2014 Chevy Silverado & Sierra 1500/2500 2WD/4WD Polyurethane Black" from Amazon for $70. These were just the bushings (upper and lower), and washer. All were identical. I went to the Nutty company and bought new bolts. Same thread, but 16 MM head and not the 18 MM on the originals and not tapered where it goes into the body. I am not sure those new bolts are going to work. I had tested without the mount in and while the thread is same, I am having difficulty getting them into the first mount I am replacing. Thoughts? I have read EchoByte's post from April 6, 2020 on Body mount positions and feel I have that I have figured out the different Body placement positions with the Dorman products 924-134 924-135 and 924-335. But have an observation/question as to why there are 3 different parts, (2) seem to be exactly the same, 924-135 and 924-134 (positions 1 and 2 respectively). Part 924-335 is for position 3 and seems to have a completely hollow bottom bushing, where as the other Dorman products, while mostly hollow, have a bottom to them that I figure goes on the bottom where you would put the washer. But the washer included with the 924-335 is much more industrial strength than that of what I received with just the replacement bushings. Now as I am writing this, it is possible that because there is not as much weight in position 3 (under extended cab), it does not have to have a bottom to it? In the disassembly process, some of the metal mounts were salvageable and I rehabbed them, however, 2 were eaten through where the top bushing slides onto it. So I bought the 924-335 for $57 (less expensive than the others, $81 and $83) and at that point I was not familiar with the body mount positions nor necessarily concerned as all the bushings I had previously purchased were exactly the same. I also bought the 924-130 Radiator mount as I needed the bolt and the metal mounts are the same throughout so will be using that to replace the second one. in position 2 with the new bolts from nutty. I know that this was a long post and I most likely have answered some of my own questions but does anyone have any input? I suppose I could buy another 924-335 so position 3 is same on both sides. I am trying to avoid buying that and 2 more of 924-134 and 924-135 but if those new bolts do not work, I may not have much choice. Thank you in advance. The pictures are of the plastic piece, The replacement bushings with rehabbed metal mount and the original and new bolt and then position 2 which will be the last to come out.
  15. Thank you all for your responses. If you have a flat and cannot get the spare tire down, then what is the use? I will be running her without the safety latch, which in my opinion is a nice option, but not so much if you do not take care in lubricating it regularly. Mine was not obviously taken care of nor used.
