  1. I don’t know why it posted it twice. Every once in a while it will do that. Thank you for your insightful knowledge! You seem to be a real contributor here!
  2. Update im at 10000 miles and am getting 25-26 mpg work and back. Engine is getting better and better
  3. So your pulling 10000 lbs with 2.7 turbo and getting 16 mpg?
  4. Called three service mangers at three different dealerships. All agreed that it is suppose to be gm filter and gm oil for first oil change. No one said ac delco was king! Did they use super tech oil from Walmart as well???? Oil filter way to tight, drain plug way to tight, non oem oil filter with a sub par media for filtration, now I wonder about the oil. Cheapest ****** they could find in 55 gallon drum. It’s the point that gets me. GM did the free oil change for a reason. Not just be nice to you. By the way . There are a difference in filters in the media that is in the filter for filtration. So not all filters are the same. I’m not trying to be argumentative but I’ve been in these dealerships and I know what gos on. I bet you they billed gm for an original ac delco filter and gm dexos oil. I would never put a parts master filter on my truck. If I knew they were going to do all that. I would have just changed it myself and saved everybody the trouble. There’s no harm done and your right in a way but it’s just sneaky to treat it like it was a cheap trade in vehicle on this brand new engine. When I take a vehicle to a dealership I assume I’m getting oem parts. I know people are going to disagree with me and that’s ok. Everybody has there way of doing things. I just feel this was sneaky and cheap. This is why I left the dealerships.
  5. While I was at the dealer getting the oil changed I bought 4 oil filters and 2 air filters to keep in stock at my shop. I also bought 10 drain plug gaskets to keep in stock. The very same day this was done. They had 18 oil filters on hand. The service writer doesn’t know I had purchased these parts because after the first one I would be servicing my truck. I’ve been a tech for 30 + years. Also what I didn’t mention in the first post was how tight the drain plug was. Suppose to be 18 ft/lbs. there is no way that way 18 more like 30-35 bad for aluminum treads
  6. I took my truck in for the first oil change that is free from Gm. Dealership changed it at 5255 miles. I’m at 10037 now and I change my own oil this time so I drain the oil then pull the oil filter. Oil filter was overly tight. I noticed it was a parts master oil filter. Where is the GM filter? I called the dealership and they said they were out of original oil filters that day. I asked him why did you change it then. Why didn’t you reschedule! He had no answer.

  8. 56 here . I didn’t gain wisdom and become smarter. The world around me got dummer ,works in my favor!
  9. Wow! Did this answer your question??? The simply safe guy is out of work now. Jk thanks for the info.
  10. Update: work and back is up to 26.4 mpg with a 4wd z-71 5.3 what other 1/2 ton v8 4wd can do that?
  11. Mine thought is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. But I’ve rarely use 4w low. By the way there is no way I’m taking this brand new 65 k truck off road to the woods anyway. I have a 84gmc Jimmy with a 6.2l diesel for that. 86 K10 or a Honda rancher.
