I see a class action lawsuit has now been filed concerning the GM L87 6.2 V8 and NHTSA investigations underway concerning the 887,000 L87 engines out there from 2019-2024. I'm trying to grasp the magnitude of this problem as I own a '24 Denali 1500 6.2 bought new in June '24 and now having 10,400 trouble free miles. I have driven back and forth 20 miles into and out of Kansas City and 3 road trips of 2,000 miles each since then and have yet to see any of the GM models possibly having this engine being on a flatbed or dead along the road.
GM is not forthcoming on how many engines have failed so impossible to figure a percentage of failures so far reported. I am changing oil at 3,500 miles and sticking with 93 octane. The other thing I read was that many of the failures have come rather soon, under 10,000 miles. Becoming paranoid especially on road trips. Can anyone put a perspective on this L87 failure?
