  1. So now I'm ready for an early oil change. If I go in now and they test for the code and it turns up then they are obligated to impound my vehicle. If I keep using the vehicle then I'll be going beyond when I want to change oil and the now recommended 0-40. Not sure I want to take the risk of leaving my truck with them for an unknown period of time and only one vehicle in the family. Guess I'll call the dealer on Monday.
  2. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2025/04/chevy-silverado-gmc-sierra-recalled-for-6-2l-v8-engine-loss-of-propulsion/ Seems strange they now have a way to test the engine and determine if yours needs replacing or just different oil. Why didn't they say before after all the complaints that they had a way to "test" the engine. I suspect they announced on a Friday afternoon to let the dealers figure out how they are going to handle he calls on Monday morning.
  3. I see a class action lawsuit has now been filed concerning the GM L87 6.2 V8 and NHTSA investigations underway concerning the 887,000 L87 engines out there from 2019-2024. I'm trying to grasp the magnitude of this problem as I own a '24 Denali 1500 6.2 bought new in June '24 and now having 10,400 trouble free miles. I have driven back and forth 20 miles into and out of Kansas City and 3 road trips of 2,000 miles each since then and have yet to see any of the GM models possibly having this engine being on a flatbed or dead along the road. GM is not forthcoming on how many engines have failed so impossible to figure a percentage of failures so far reported. I am changing oil at 3,500 miles and sticking with 93 octane. The other thing I read was that many of the failures have come rather soon, under 10,000 miles. Becoming paranoid especially on road trips. Can anyone put a perspective on this L87 failure?
  4. My research was pointing me to the #1. Thanks for the background, my understanding is much greater now.
  5. I have to be convinced on 2.5/3K. What is the reasoning?
  6. The motor, secondarily the warranty.
  7. Not sure, maybe. Gen 3 if changed at 5k may be fine but there seem to be others exceeding those specs.
  8. Given this discussion I am wondering in addition to an earlier oil change and keeping up with maintenance should I consider an oil that exceeds Dexos 1 Gen 3 that the dealer uses?
  9. Re: engine issues. People keep saying use better quality oil and more frequent oil changes. I’m coming up on 5000 mile with a 6.2. Is anything wrong with sticking with mfg recommended Dexos? My break-in was by the book but not over babying it.
  10. Another good idea to try out along with using electric parking brake and leaving truck in neutral. Helpful, thanks.
  11. Try Laura GMC in Illinois. Have heard they are high volume low price. Will have to search.
  12. Wondering the same myself but know this wasn't original question. The manual says engine shuts off after :15. Would like to have it go longer so if I'm on a trip with my dog and I stop for a quick bite to eat I'd like AC to keep running a little longer. Will try e-brake on suggestion.
  13. Just realized I posted 2014 and not 2024 Denali. Correction made.
  14. Received notice to reprogram "Serial Data Gateway Module and Radio", released 8-8-24. From the info I gathered this is a sort of cybersecurity precaution so as to prevent anyone from interfering with a GM over the air update or hacking into the software. The GM program # is N24243. Not sure if this a recall per se or how many vehicle affected. Received the notice via my MyGMC app. Have scheduled with dealer next week.
  15. Thanks for the help all; got it downloaded from app store.
  16. I'll give it a try, thanks
  17. I have the radar app but not sure how to get it to screen. I don't presently have the phone paired.
  18. '24 Sierra Denali 1500 and Samsung 24S phone. Is it possible to get a radar app to show on the screen?
  19. I read the entire 400 page manual online for the '24 Sierra Denali prior to closing the deal and again after. Very detailed, good info for any owner. In this case I failed to recall the answer to my original question. As you suggest the glovebox manual is good for the everyday questions that may arise. As with any new vehicle I know many owners don't know the full extent of all the vehicle features even the day they trade it off. Worse yet, they fail to become aware of and research these forums asking questions of experienced owners. Forums are a great learning tool IMO. This my first GMC, came over from RAM. Happy, Happy
  20. Sorry, I meant I missed it in the owner manual. Thanks
  21. Well, that went over my head. Thanks
  22. Thanks, will try tomorrow.
  23. 2024 sierra Denali 1500. Can’t get backup lines to appear when backing. Have looked in manual for help. Rear camera works and alarm sounds at last second. Lines would be helpful but can’t bring them up?
