  1. Torque spec for that bolt is 70 lb-ft. Use a torque wrench so it doesn't come off next time.
  2. I think he was talking to me but yeah...pretty idiotic.
  3. I already posted it earlier. CFO and CTO at a tech firm. I bet you have no idea what engineers make. Starting salary is over $200K. Even my exec assistant makes $140K which is likely more than a lineman makes. I have engineers working for me that make over $500K with bonuses. You live in a trailer park?
  4. Of course you wouldn't. A lineman is a low paying low skilled job.
  5. You were the one that was stating looking at through your own eyes. I am not the only one that sees that either. Be blind if you want.
  6. Comparing being a lineman to an electrical engineer? That's rich!
  7. I am the CTO and CFO of a tech firm. My wealth has increased 5X to what it was from my previous 45 years of life for the last 3 years. Yes...my own eyes! If you are in tech, you have seen the greatest expansion of wealth in the last 3 years in history. If you haven't, you either in a low paying nontech job or you didn't get a college education.
  8. I am the CTO and CFO for a small tech firm. All of our parts are manufactured outside the US. Our biggest clients are US automakers. Guess what happens to the prices of the electronic parts we sell them when there is a tariff.
  9. This guy is clueless on how this is beneficial to you. Nobody would pick the out of date 30A version of this DC to DC converter anymore if they are charging 12V batteries. VE Networking has nothing to do with contact with the phone...it's for devices to network together to share information. My understanding is that Victron is waiting for stock to get depleted on the older 12V Orion products and they will be dropping them off their website....at least for the non isolated versions.
  10. It will drop the voltage 0.7V...but since that basically kills any charging you will do anyway from the truck, just disconnect that wire from the trailer!
  11. Exactly...so non self aware! If you are going to put in a diode, you might as well just disconnect it completely since that will do basically the same thing.
  12. Getting back on track. If you lower the voltage to the battery you are charging, you will source less current. Adding a diode is not a great solution if you really want to charge a battery. Way better off installing a DC to DC converter on the trailer side. If the DC to DC converter is anything greater than 15A. you will likely need a bigger wire than what is in the 7 pin.
  13. Likewise! Also used the term in my calculus class in high school.
