  1. AT4X carrier vs regular 2500/3500 HD spare tire storage question. Hi. I see you mention that your full size spare is the same GM aluminum wheel as your other wheels. I have been wanting to add a full size aluminum spare to my truck but I have read that an aluminum wheel should only be stored in the spare tire rack temporarily and not kept there long term because of corrosion etc. I am wondering if the AT4X and ZR2 have a different spare tire carrier or is it just the standard carrier that the normal HD’s have? I’d like to put a full size black 20” spare wheel and tire under there but was worried the carrier might damage the aluminum wheel. Anything different about your spare tire carrier under your truck from that of a regular HD truck? Thank you for any info.
  2. Yes. That’s the one. I think Chevy/gmc has 15% off and free shipping right now. They are also online at resellers of GM parts for 209.95 last time I looked. I wish I never ordered the 20’s although I do prefer the industrial look of the SHH wheels but I’ve got 18 silver wheels so it would have been an easier swap without Speedo calibration at a dealership to go back and forth for winter/towing. I read that dealerships will only recalibrate Speedo if your trim package allowed that wheel size as an option when ordered so I would check that out before you commit. My LTZ allows either size wheel.
  3. Hi. Check out the 18 inch black wheels that are on the 24-25 Alaskan models. They may be the ones you didn’t like but they are on sale from GM for just over 200 dollars each which is a great price. I bought the 20” SHH wheels on Black Friday sale but in hindsight I should have purchased the 18” and saved 1000 bucks-ish. I believe they were an option on 20-24 trucks. GM authority website shows all the current wheel set ups for the 25’s. They meet the weight requirements.
  4. Another guy reported that a truck fob was made on site from reading the vin off the dash and the truck was stolen with minutes of the thief pulling up. He said he watched it on the security footage. I was considering taping my vin numbers on the dash so they at least have to break the window.
  5. The manual says to jack each side by the axle next to the leaf springs. Not by the bell housing. Tire shops always use a jack on the bell housing as I have done for most of my adult life but I guess I will use an axle cradle adapter from now on and avoid jacking the diff housing. The tire shops won’t.
  6. No need to charge separately. Charge the drivers side one that is easy access. If I remember right, one of my older owners manuals said never to jump another vehicle using the passenger side battery so I never mess with that one. Besides that it’s a pain to get to.
