  1. Hello all! It was suggested I start a build thread so here I am starting one! My truck is a 2016 Silverado Regular Cab with the 5.3L v8 and 6 speed automatic. It has the IOB 7" infotainment center with Apple Play/Android Auto, trailer hitch incorporated into the rear bumper, cruise control, 40/20/40 seats etc and although I originally thought it had 3:42 gears based on the standard items listed on the sticker I somehow missed that my option column shows that it actually has the 3:08 gears. The LT interior was a little too busy looking for me and had a bunch of stuff I didn't really need and about the only option the LS didn't have that I wished for is the steering wheel audio/phone controls but I think I can get by without those especially after finding out from the dealer the cost as well as what it would take to install. I had modifications in mind before even getting the truck such as lowering, tire/wheel upgrade, increasing performance/handling, upgrading to a competition level audio system (my hobby and side business) and of course plans to personalize it to my tastes. Here's what I have done so far and the more I read this forum the more I add to my list so future plans are below! Day 1 Before installing 2" drop shackles and removing spacer block (shows the chrome door handles I installed but did not like so they got changed quickly) After shackles installed/spacer block removed and color matched handles as well as mirror caps installed The gold Bowtie looked out of place to me so I color matched the front one using the rattle can custom mix kit you can get on eBay or Amazon along with Duplicolor primer/adhesion promoter I didn't like the look of the rear Bowtie at all even after color matching so I removed it and I also added the LS emblem to balance out the rear somewhat since now only the LT and LTZ trucks get those emblems for some reason. (I also plan to color match the tailgate handle) More coming in a few minutes!
  2. IOB upgrade

I have a 2016 gmc sierra without a back up camera. My rpo says IOB 😒. I have read you cant upgrade to a back up camera with out changing modules. I went on gmparts direct and looked up cameras and it has all the rpo codes i have but uvc. Is it possible to just change handles and plug in the connections (plug and play) or would i need a whole new module?
  3. Hello, Just wanted to let everyone know about our weekend only special. To learn more or take advantage of this current special please visit our website at: https://www.gm-navigation.com/shop/2014-2016-gm-360-surround-and-blind-spot-camera-system/ at checkout enter coupon code: mvi360 . Please enter the coupon code in all lowercase letters. For anyone with additional questions or who prefers to checkout over the phone with a sales representative please call us at 866-428-3585 or Via TEXT at 919-995-9523. This particular vehicle has been somewhat ignored by most manufactures out there as far as solutions go, but I think you find this one to be pretty slick. What I have really noticed about the I0B system is that the screen resolution and clarity is WAY better than the 8" touchscreen (in my opinion). This not only opens up a whole world of new opportunity for the I03 trucks, but it now gives the current I0B user more possibility. Along with the 360 camera view options this module also adds a dedicated HDMI input. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eUdI9ztkVt0"frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  4. I am upgrading the audio system in my 2016 Silverado LS that came with the 7" IOB infotainment system that does not have steering wheel control capability nor a CD player both of which I would like to have. I checked with Chevrolet about upgrading and was told I would need to get the 8" screen, change the steering wheel, change the bcm, add a harness and have it programmed at a cost of around $1500.00 but the crazy thing is they also said they could not guarantee it would work! I definitely wasn't going to take that chance so I decided to just replace the headunit with a Pioneer double din to get CD/DVD as well as a few other nice features along with an idatalink Maestro so I can keep all of my factory functions. I knew this headunit could be controlled by factory steering wheel controls via an add on adapter which got me thinking so I looked up the instructions for the AXXESS ASWC-1 adapter and found it only needs power/ground and one connection into the harness under the steering column. After a little googling my understanding is the factory steering wheel button sends a signal to the computer which determines what function to do based on the different resistance of the particular button pushed and that's the reason only 1 wire output is needed. Now I am no electrical wizard for sure but it appears that if I change the steering wheel to one with the controls and add the necessary harness the buttons should be able to control the aftermarket headunit using the adapter since it would be doing what the computer would be doing with the factory headunit which is just reading the resistance of the button that is pushed. This almost seems too easy especially since I have found nothing is easy to upgrade in these trucks so hopefully one of you electrical wizard can confirm this will work or let me know why it won't. Thanks in advance!
  5. Ok here we go, this mod is being done on a 2016 GMC 2500HD equipped with the IOB 7" screen, factory trailer mirrors with led package. I will be making a video on how to install it and how it works please let me know if there's any interest in this mod? With this system you can have up to 5 cameras. rear facing, front facing, right mirror, left mirror (trigged by blinker), and back up camera (factory or after market) this setup will cost much less than someone the internet no dealer programing need it is a plug and play system.
