  1. Hello all, I'm going to be adding the transmission oil cooler (GM Part Number 23409058) to my 2020 Trail Boss. I’m going to order the ACDelco Oil cooler lines (GM Part Number 86560008). Does anyone have any detailed photos of how the lines are run under the body, through the engine compartment, and out of the core support to their cooler? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
  2. Hey guys, I did the thermal bypass conversion to active by pass on my 2018 8L90. Did a step by step video because I hadn’t seen anybody do an actual full replacement video nor had I seen one on a 8 speed. Trans runs about 45 degrees cooler now. Check it out and let me know what you think. It’s the exact same procedure on 6 speeds just mounts different on the transmission.
  3. Hello, first time posting. I'm sure it has been asked prior to my post but I'll be honest 101 pages is a lot to go through. I'm looking at replacing my current (6 speed) transmission with either the 8 speed or maybe a 10 speed. First big question I have, because so far my research hasn't provided many answers is if an 8 or even a 10 speed could in fact fit into my 2014. Secondly, would the computer or any other electronics need updating inorder to support a newer transmission? Any help is appreciated.
  4. Hello all! It was suggested I start a build thread so here I am starting one! My truck is a 2016 Silverado Regular Cab with the 5.3L v8 and 6 speed automatic. It has the IOB 7" infotainment center with Apple Play/Android Auto, trailer hitch incorporated into the rear bumper, cruise control, 40/20/40 seats etc and although I originally thought it had 3:42 gears based on the standard items listed on the sticker I somehow missed that my option column shows that it actually has the 3:08 gears. The LT interior was a little too busy looking for me and had a bunch of stuff I didn't really need and about the only option the LS didn't have that I wished for is the steering wheel audio/phone controls but I think I can get by without those especially after finding out from the dealer the cost as well as what it would take to install. I had modifications in mind before even getting the truck such as lowering, tire/wheel upgrade, increasing performance/handling, upgrading to a competition level audio system (my hobby and side business) and of course plans to personalize it to my tastes. Here's what I have done so far and the more I read this forum the more I add to my list so future plans are below! Day 1 Before installing 2" drop shackles and removing spacer block (shows the chrome door handles I installed but did not like so they got changed quickly) After shackles installed/spacer block removed and color matched handles as well as mirror caps installed The gold Bowtie looked out of place to me so I color matched the front one using the rattle can custom mix kit you can get on eBay or Amazon along with Duplicolor primer/adhesion promoter I didn't like the look of the rear Bowtie at all even after color matching so I removed it and I also added the LS emblem to balance out the rear somewhat since now only the LT and LTZ trucks get those emblems for some reason. (I also plan to color match the tailgate handle) More coming in a few minutes!
  5. I had purchased AMSOIL Signature Series ATF for my 18 Silverado - 6 speed. After having it sit for a while and never getting to a transmission flush on my own time, I called a local, honest, reputable transmission shop near me that has always treated my dad very well. They’re a no-bull, honest shop, and the owner is down to earth and knowledgeable regarding transmissions, as he should be. I informed him I had AMSOIL and wanted it switched with that, and he advised that for the 6L80E, it wasn’t a great idea. He has nothing against a better fluid, but he advised that AMSOIL doesn’t treat the electronics nicely, and it’s a common issue. I’m an AMSOIL guy, and do want him to use the AMSOIL fluid, but has anyone else heard of this or advise to simply use DEXRON VI and NOT AMSOIL?
  6. Looking at crew cab short bed 4x4’s with the V8’s. I just can’t wrap my head around not having low range so it’ll either be a Z71 or a Trail Boss. Been watching prices and I’m seeing Custom Trail Boss trucks starting to get close to the prices of the LT. As in within a grand or even less. Anyone bought a Custom and regret it? I have a 2011 Silverado 1500 4x4 and my wife has a 2017 Yukon 4x4. Both have the 6L80 transmission and hers has the Ecotec 5.3 V8. Very happy with that engine and transmission combo and even with less power my ‘11 moves and drives well with the 3.42 gears. Will I miss anything with a Custom instead of a regular LT Z71? 6 spd vs 8 spd? Gas mileage? Something else?
  7. I’m planning on upgrading my gear ratio from 3.42 to 4.10 on my 2019 custom trail boss. I want to put a 4-6 lift on my truck from BDS with fox shock coilovers With 35 inch tires maybe 37’s but before that I want to regear my truck so that I don’t lose any power. Do y’all think 4.10 gears are good enough for should I go for like 4.55’s? If anyone has re geared there 2019’s and up please let me know the prices and gear shifting experiences.
  8. I was hoping y’all could help me on my decision. I have a 2019 custom trail boss 5.3 with AFM 6 speed. I called the local dealership here and asked how my warranty would be effected if I disable the AFM. They told me “as long as that tune didn’t cause the damage of whatever i bring the truck in for all is well.” So they recommended me to a local tuner here in town which was surprising. I called him and he said to disable my AFM it would cost around 500. I do know about the range device but I don’t want to to deal with the battery issues it can cause if you mistakenly leave it plugged in. My other option is the hand held tuners such as a diablo. I have zero experience with them but I am going to put in a cold air intake and flow master 44 exhaust in the future. Would my best bet be the Diablo tuner to disable the AFM and use it to adjust my truck to my other mods or go with the professional tuner?
  9. Hey guys hoping y’all could give me some insight on the custom trail boss 5.3 6 speed 3.42 gears with it’s towing if anyone has this model and tows with it let me know how it felt to y’all. I’m going to tow my buddies jeep Cherokee to His home state which is about 700 miles. Will probably go through some hills and mountains in TN. Does the the power train struggle with towing because of the 32 inch durratracs?
  10. New TFL Truck video: Ford vs Chevy MPG Verdict! Here’s How the F-250 7.3L V8 Compares to the Silverado V8 Towing & Not! This F250 7.3L has 3.55 rear end gears. They have another option for 4.30 rear end gears too. Most likely another video with that truck will follow. They did a video with the 4.30 rear end F250 on a 800 mile road trip unloaded and got 14.58 MPG average.
