I had a great deal on buying my 2015 Silverado LT. It’s not what I wanted (V8, leather, 4WD, etc,) but I’m going to make it work! It’s a beautiful color and I added some black 20” rims and also painted the bowtie black. I have a few more mods I want to do with the lights and adding a backup camera, BUT what I want most is HP!!! I called the local speed shop and they told me there’s really nothing out there for the 4.3L and I wouldn’t be able to notice the small increase with a Cold Air Intke, Exhausts or programming..... Is this true? I mean a few extra (10-15) for each of those mods seems like it would add up? Can anyone give me some advice to get more HP without dropping the obvious V8 I’d love to have to begin with..... Thanks so much in advance! TomBrady80

I have a 2005, 4.3l, 2x4, extended cab Silverado. I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to figure out this issue. It seems that after the truck has warmed up for the most part it will sputter like it wants to stall out when accelerating after sitting idle at a stoplight until I get to about 40mph or so then it just seems to regain all power and smoothness to driving again like nothing was wrong. Any ideas?

I bought this back in... 2013, from a dealer in McKinney, TX (Dallas) for my 2011 GMC Sierra SLT Crew Cab Z-82 Texas Edition. While I was finishing my 3" rear seat lift, Forward Firing Quad 8" 4.5cu ft NET dual ported box @ 31Hz, mounting my 5 Amps, sealing off every small hole in all 4 doors with 1/8" wood and Dynamat Extreme, my Focal Utopia 6W2 Components, Focal K2p PolyKevlar Comps, etc..... I ended up totalling my 2008 Sierra 5.3l the day before I received the Mechman Alternator. A lady pulled out on the 4 lane highway (speed limit 65mph) + middle turn lane, thinking the stoplight (in the middle of nowhere) was red, but it was green, so I never let off my cruise control, whixh was set to 69mph, 4mph over the speed limit. It was cliche. Everything happened in slow motion. I was just going to slam on my brakes and rear end her, probably giving her a 50/50 chance at surviving or swerve. But I saw a young, 4-8 year old girl in the passenger seat, so I swerved. Unfortunately, I hadn't cleaned off one of my wheel speed sensors, so my VDC wasn't working, so Iserved, thinking my VDC would save me from my sudden jerk of the wheel, but itdidn't, lost the rear end, swerved left initially, then right as my rear end got light, went across I front of her, swerved left and went straight across into a tree and rolled it 4 times. She stopped for a second, never got out and drove off. I had numerous people stop and help me. Most. who saw it, was angry at the car who clearly saw it, a few guys said I should have just ran her over. So anyway... my Mechman G-Series 270a Alternator with the optional $65.00 Billet Aluminum OverDrive Pulley came in the day after I totaled it. The OverDrive Pulley does two things. First, it lightens the unsprung rotational mass, therefore making it much easier to spin which equals more horsepower. 2nd and most important is that it allows much higher output and lower RPM's. I no longer need it as I never purchased another GM vehicle. It just happened that way. I ended up getting a Nissan Armada and now I'm in a 2011 Nissan Titan Pro-4X Crew Cab that I'm lifting 8" in the front & 9" in the rear. I believe I paid $600 total for it as I have the receipt. This fits all GM vehicles from 2004-2014 4.3l, 5.3l, 6.0l, 6.2l and many others such as 3.4l, 3.6l etc.. It fits vehicles with the 2-Pin Alternator Wiring Harness Plug. The alternator I was upgrading was the Optional AC Delco DR44 145a alternator, which is for sale also. Never installed, never mounted, never been inside an engine bay. I do know that the smaller pulley does not require a new belt. I paid $499 + $65 for the Billet Aluminum Overdrive Pulley + $20'ish for Shipping For Sale Price: $400 + Actual UPS Fully Insured ($500) Shipping

Off-Topic 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 EXT Cab 4.3L WT By Crdel93, 8 hours ago in Off-Topic 1500× silverado× flywheel× 2012× chevrolet× chevy× 4.3l× extended cab× Reply to this topic Crdel93 0 Posted 8 hours ago I have 2012 Chevy Silverado Ext cab 1500 4.3L WT. I just drove it form California to Indiana which is approximately 2,200 miles the last 500 or so miles of my trip I started hearing a ticking noise. Which sounded familiar. I was towing a Mazda 3 on a dolly and had two atv's in the bed. Total weight was about 10,500 lbs. I get here to Indiana and take it to a Chevy Dealership and they want to drop the transmission. I double check my Forever Warranty before they start doing anything only to find out its voided because I didn't take it to the Chevy dealership I bought it from in Indiana but to a Chevy dealership in California since I'm active duty military and that's where I was stationed. So I said screw it I'll take it to a cheaper place since it won't be covered under warranty anyway. I take it to a guy explain what's going on and he says it sounds like my Fly wheel. I told him it's funny you say that because my truck has 72,000 miles and at about 35,000 miles my fly wheel cracked out in San Diego. Well this morning he called and confirmed that's what it is. Has anyone else had this issue? Is this going to be a reoccurring issue every 35,000 miles? Is there an underlying issue that is causing this? Thanks in advance!

I have an 09 Sierra 1500 with a LU3, 4th Gen 4.3L v6. I eventually want to turbo or supercharge my truck, but I realize before I put any wrench time in that I will need an ECU calibrator (tuner) because I drive my truck daily and don't exactly have the money to throw in all the parts I want and take it to the local dyno tuning shop. What would be the cheapest tuner that would support a wideband exhaust analyzer, boost pressure sensor, ect? I plan to start with a bigger cam and upgraded valvesprings.

My 2014 Tungsten Metallic Chevrolet Silverado double cab, 4.3L V-6 I've had a warranty paint issue noted here http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/166497-paint-chip-on-door-after-car-wash/ I painted my factory wheels matte black and am currently looking to put vinyl or possibly bed liner over the chrome trim.

My S10 is a 1995 with a 1996 V6 vortec that I threw an edelbrock intake and 500 cfm carb on. here is the real kick in rump...It eats starters....literally destroys the solenoid. When I watch it try to turn the motor over it whins n barely turns the motor then the aperture gear slips n makes a god awful metal on metal bang sound. So when I get a new starter it is fine for a few starts then the problems reoccur. Could this be an issue of the motor having too much compression for the starter and it not being able to turn the motor or am I missing something else. I am just tired of replacing starters.
