  1. I have 2018 Silverado LTZ Z71 with the 8 speed transmission and running a 3 inch level kit on 35s. Stock gearing is 3.42 and looking to regear the front and rear diffs. Since I went 35s I can feel the difference in how it drives and MPG. I’ve talked to many people and some say 4.56 and others say 4.10 since it’s an 8 speed transmission. I’ve read many forum threads but never one specifying gearing and how it’s different with an 8speed. Most are talking about 6 speed. Does anyone here have this set up and what gearing are you running or do you recommend ? Thanks in advance.
  2. Hey guys, I have a 2017 Silverado High Country and I installed a 6in Fabtech lift with 35in nitto tires back in September 2017 and since then I've been having issues with my cruise control disengaging/turning off at anything above 69mph. When I'm traveling above 69mph, cruise control will turn on and illuminate on the dash, but it wont engage or lock on. Even when I have the cruise set at 65mph and I try to increase the speed to 70mph, it'll immediately cut off/disengage. I took it to the dealership around January 2018 and they told me since the truck has bigger/heavier tires, the computer is reading the wheels going slower than what it reads on the speedometer. They basically said I need to recalibrate the computer to read the new tire size. BUT, a friend of mine also said I could possibly need to re-gear to 4.56 since I'm running heavier tires, which could fix the cruise control cutting off. If anyone has experienced this issue, you help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
  3. Hey all, New guy from Houston named Zach. I'm looking to lift my truck and put 35's on it. My buddy with a lifted Diesel said it will turn my gasser into a dog and I need to regear so I can get out my own way. What gears would work best on my truck for 35's? I was thinking 4.56? Also If anyone has re-geared their truck and can recommend a place in Houston? I would appreciate it. I don't even know where to start looking.
  4. I'm not sure if anyone has discussed this particular scenario, I've poured through a number of different regear posts but I haven't found anything that really answers my question. I have a '14 Silverado DC z71 I purchased in 2015 used. I got a great deal on it, only 19,000miles and looked like it had never been driven. The dealer I got it from I had known years ago, his wife used to teach me horseback riding lessons when I was a kid. He told me the truck was 3.42 as well as another guy Arbizo the dealership. It took me too long to realize it's actually 3.08 so I'm basically stuck with it. I love the truck and it tows my ~6000lb horse trailer fine but I'm looking to Regear. I just don't love how it handles some of the hills and back roads I drive with the trailer. It always makes t but I feel like it's working too hard and I want it to last a while without needing a new tranny etc. I don't plan to lift it or add bigger tires or anything like that. All I'm looking for is improved towing (I know changing my gears won't Change my tow rating I'm not looking to tow anymore I'm just looking to improve towing performance for what I tow now within the trucks capabilities). My question is should I upgrade to 3.42 or if I'm going through the trouble am I better off just going to 3.73? How will 3.73 effect my gas mileage vs 3.08? I know it's a truck and I'm not looking for crazy mileage but don't want to be going to the gas station every other day since it's my daily driver also.
  5. Alright let’s cut to the chase. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 6 speed... with 3.08 gears?? Completely crossed my mind when I bout it to look at the gearing but whatever it is what it is. I want to put a 3.5” lift kit on it with 33” mud tires and 20x10 wheels. Now how much of a dog will my truck be? I’m asking from people who have DONE this or have DRIVEN one with close to the same setup. I don’t pull anything and I live in Green Bay so I have fairly flat terrain. What risks am I running here? Yes I would eventually re-gear maybe next summer (summer of ‘19) and I will be putting my stock tires back on in the winter. Will I be doing a whole lot of harm in this one year span? And It’s a pavement princess so I’m not banging it through mud holes. I’ve read many threads on this and none of them really seemed to answer my questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
