  1. It is either oil seeping past the rings, or Mentelo trying to mind meld with you.
  2. Let your ho out the tool box brotha (word)
  3. This is a product that has been used by many people on various boards with success: http://www.por15.com/
  4. These units are also known for cracking and leaking, it will give the impression of a bad rear main seal. Sara (2001 Z28) had hers replaced after 9 years. The engine heat is the culprit in the units cracking.
  5. Have them use this stuff (POR 15), you will have no more rust problems; http://www.por15.com/
  6. PLEASE do not take your vehicle to the "stealership" for this problem, as said above, they will take your money, and then tell you it is "normal" for the LS engines. I have piston slap in Sara (2001 Z28 40k original miles), and I have had it in my 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe (4.8L 107K original miles), and I have it in my 2013 Yukon Denali (23k original miles). The "ticking" goes away in the first few minuets, and also keep in mind that the fuel injectors will tick when the engine is operating. Hell, Sara sounds like a sewing machine when I first start her up.
  7. +1 on this, the engine block is aluminum, the piston sleeve is steel. When the dis similar metals are cold, there is a "gap" in the tolerances, causing the noise @ startup.
  8. The only vehicle I can reference is "Sara" (2001 Camaro Z28) and she DOES have "e fans". I to installed a 185F thermostat in her, and when I had a dyno tune (for other matters), I had the tuner set the fan on/off speed to correspond with the lower thermostat.
  9. Unless you adjust your "on/off" temperature of your fans (ECM adjust) it does not matter what temperature the thermostat is, the water will heat up to the prescribed temperature the fan is programed to.
  10. I have both keys that came with the vehicle, I wanted an extra key to have on my "spare" key chain fob. I purchased the key @ the dealership, and they programed it for me for just the price of the key (I realize I paid a premium price for the key). They asked for my original key, and they completed the task in less than 5 minuets.
  11. My 2013 Yukon Denali flashes the lights and blows the horn once when the vehicle is locked using the remote.
  12. Too bad the odometers could not auto reset, my insurance company would love that one (lol).
  13. It would seem to be more agressive in the 900s. I have several friends that have 800s like mine and some of them don't have the "bounce" and other noticed theirs to work like mine (started dropping after a period of years of driving). The older trucks (800) had a different alternator, charging system. My 2001 Z28 always charges per my electrical volt gauge.
  14. Every .0001 of a gallon counts when you try to beat the C.A.F.E. ratings Point well taken
  15. The alternator in these newer vehicles are what is called "free wheeling" that is to say when the battery is fully charged, the alternator "disingages" via a clutch so even though it is connected to the serpentine belt, it is not causing any drag on the system, thus the gas savings. I PERSONALLY DO NOT SEE A GAS SAVINGS ON MY VEHICLE.
  16. resistance is futile!!!!
