2019 2020 Silverado 6.2 Supercharger Build
PDYoung replied to darkhorse220's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I have a 6.2 2019 LTZ going to have LMP install my whipple along with headers, cam, port the heads, get those shitty lifters out of there, lower compression with some 10.0 compression forged pistons, and maybe 8 piggy back injectors in the whipple manifold. Shop is booked until January so i have time to start saving lots of money for the build. -

Maybe not Denali shocks, i just read they have Magnaride similar to what my 2011 CTS-V has -

No i didn't notice the shitty ride on my brief test drive. I was just thinking since this was an all new designed truck, it would ride really nice. It's not just the Z71 optioned truck with it's Z71 Rancho Mono tube suspension that is the problem ? Do all trim levels of this new silverado ride like this ? I was thinking about replacing all the shocks with Denali shocks or a non Z71 GM double tube shock for now, at the dealers cost, until the aftermarket comes out with something. The dealership is hounding me on filling out their survey. If i don't get a smooth, non bouncy riding truck, the dealership and GM are going to get blasted on their survey. My truck is at the dealer now having a dent removed that i didn't see until i got it home and the paint on the hood cleared of some spotty fallout. They gave me a 2019 LD Silverado that is smooth as silk and doesn't bounce. This truck is the out going design. Does anyones steering wheel shake like crazy going over bumps in the road in their new T1 trucks. I can feel every bump through the steering wheel, very bad on bumpy roads. Same road with loaner truck, steering wheel feels great. WTF is going on ? -

Just bought a 2019 LTZ Z71, i wish i would have read this before i bought it. The truck rides terrible, bouncing all over the road, feels very unstable at high speed to the point that i'm going to lose control. At slower speed going over bumps the steering wheel shakes so bad i just can't believe this is a brand new truck. I traded my 2017 LTZ that road perfect and smooth for this piece of shit. I want another truck,i've only had it 6 days and i can't stand the junk. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do ? -
Hi everybody, about ready to pickup a 2017 LTZ 6.2. I read 30 of the 49 pages on and don't see anything about this. I'm thinking about putting the 2500 duramax ram air hood and setup on my 1500. Will this hood fit the 1500 ? for the hood and all other pieces minus paint it will cost 1500.00 or so. Has anyone tired this for a CIA ram effect?

It's been a long time on here but, i finally put a new custom grind cam in my Seirra to finally complement the E-Force supercahrger that i intalled in the summer of 2012. The new cam added 82 more hp and now wheel hp power is up to 518. Now i need someone to point me in the direction of some new aftermarket rotors and calipers to help bring this thing to a stop. Does anyone know if Brembo has anything with 4 or 6 piston calipers that will fit my L9H Seirra with the stock 17's. What are the upgrade brake options out there for our trucks. I know Hennessey sells some very expensive brake up grades, i was hoping i could gather some pieces myself for a lot less

I was looking back at this thread and i didn't see where i had been on for a while since i bolted my headers ans supercharger on. Back in September i did get a chance to go to the track and lay down a pass. I got a 12.9 @ 106 with a 1.82 60ft . That was all wanted to know for right then. i knew i couldn't do anymore because the injectors were maxed. My ID 850's are in my hands so now i can get back to where i left off. I got Justin from Black Bear making me a tune for my new injectors and a smaller pulley to go on the supercharger. I think i'll add some meth injection after that. Then back to the track in the spring when it opens.

Anybody have any experince with EFI Live? Thinking about buying it and trying some of my own tuning.I downloaded the demo version and it seems to have a lot of variables to mess with.Looks like you would have to be trained on how to use it.Maybe if i fry my motor that will give me an excuse to drop in a LSX short block.Hmmmm.

Fred M,that supercharger took me and a friend close to 24 hours spread over four days. I'm not an auto mechicanic, but i have always torn my own engines apart and fixed my parents and kids cars and trucks when they break,so i know how to turn a wrench. I earn my money as a machinist. The Edelbrock ad with Mike Rowe from Dirtiest Jobs doing the talking says, installs in a couple of hours, yeah, bull too. Maybe after the 10th one you could get it down to eight hours. It all went together well, they give a nice installation book with good color pictures, but it still takes a while. You thinking about getting one?

Jonathan,i picked up a boost gauge and hooked it up. I was kind of let down when i was only seeing 5 lbs of boost. I went back looking to see if i could find something that advertised the 7lbs i thought i read somewhere. Nope, not mentioned anywhere. So i call Edelbrock and ask what the boost level should be and they tell me 5.5 lbs.I told them i have only 5 lbs and they tell me because i have a magnaflow muffler, that the back pressure is less now,so 5 lbs sounds about right. So you know what i did? Ordered two smaller pulleys. I'm going to go up in boost 2 lbs at a time with each pulley change. I'm going from a 3.750 to a 3.500 and get a tune, then drive it for a week or two before uping it again. If you want to add the boost gauge,i found a pod mount for the a-pillar from a company called Bully Dog that replaces the whole a-pillar trim piece. It comes in black only and can be painted to match, plus it has a hole for the Bose tweeter. What is coming next is a cam from Comp Cams. They have four grinds for the VVT that we have in our trucks, but they are not blower cams. A blower cam needs less overlap. They are working on grinding me a custom cam and springs to match,i might as well get the titanium retainers while i'm at it. I don't know if you know it or not,but these VVT cams let you have your cake and eat it too. They allow you to run a bigger, longer cam for upper rpm horse power without giving up the low end torque. But you have to limit the 50 degrees of adjustment to around 20 to keep the pistons away from the exhaust valves. Also I'm going for a set of big, long tube headers to let it breath. I'm being told that 600 plus horse power at the crank and over 500 at the wheels shouldn't be a problem. These IV generation LS motors are plenty strong enough to take it,just got to keep revs under 7000.Did you see any of the pictures of the Generation V small block or the '14 trucks?

Hey Jonathan how are you doing? Does your Callaway have a boost gauge? If yes how many pounds of boost does your motor make? Also does your truck have headers?I like my supercharger, but i feel like i want just a little more and i was going to add headers, but i'm being told that the stock manifolds are ok for my 7lbs of boost with stock cam and heads.I'm going to get a boost gauge so i can see if i'm at least getting 7lbs.Also n a couple of weeks i'm going to get a custom tune done.I'm a little scared to do it,i'm afraid their going to lean me out too much or up my timing too much and fry my motor, but i know Edelbrock's tune is real conserative.

Install of supercharger finished, truck started right up,no check engine lights,no leaks.I blasted out 50 miles for a shake down run.Nothing bad to report, everything working great. It is now, scarey fast.I'm going to try and put a picture up and i have short video from my phone that i will try to post.

Thanks SilveradoSC540 for the tire conversion math.I do also have the same 3:73 rear gear.Since we have the same gear ratio's the overall tire/wheel height would affect the acceleration of our trucks if they are different.I'll have to do the math on my tires to see what i have.Correct me please if i'm wrong, but won't a shorter wheel/tire take off quicker? Thanks also to trixter8 for that shot of the drivers side wiring.I used it with some back up information i found last night while researching GM Truck Wiring.I found wiring schematics showing the injector wire color code that i used to double check, all injectors are now correctly hooked up. Day three of supercharger install went pretty good until i got to putting on the serpentine belt. The belt Edelbrock supplied is 117.5 inches long.I need at least another inch or so.I waited for a call back from Edelbrock Tech Line on this one and i never got it. .Auto parts store was almost closed by the time i got to the belt situation. After this belt install, there is one more wiring harness to run for intercooler pump. The pump relay is suppose to be attached to a stud on the fire wall that will be the ground for the pump and it is for the relay to be mounted to,but it's not there on my truck. Some trucks have relays mounted to the firewall and some don't.I'll just ground it to some other spot and mount relay near by,not really a problem, just saying directions are good, but not exact.May not be able to get back to the install until Wednesday.I will keep everybody posted,it won't be long now. Also there is a tune update already i have to download from Edelbrock and install.I already installed the tune that came with the kit when i got it, and the kit for these 6.2 L9H truck motors was just released,i got one of the first ones. The tunes that they provide are 50 state compliant tunes,so on the conservative side.I'll get a custom tune from the local speed shop after i drive around a little while with the supplied tune.

Those Callaway's look sweet,i don't know how i missed reading about those, but i'm on it now.I haven't been to a Chevy dealer in a while, i bought my 6.2 Sierra off of ebay from a guy an hour and a half away, which wasn't bad.I'm new to the GM 6.2 trucks, i had an 2003 Suburban with a 5.3 that gave me a lot of problems that i bought new in 03.I was in the market for a 2013 GT Mustang that i was going to supercharge, but seeing the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger commercial for the 6.2 GM motor on Speed Channel or Velocity changed my mind and two days later i located my truck on Ebay. Day two on supercharger install, again very brutal because of the temperature and humidity.Another seven hours takes me from step 33 to step 62.Supercharger/Manifold is on and torque down, most of the bolts were a bear to get to and torque, took swiviles, extensions, ratchets, tools all over the place, but got it on and torqued.Fuel rails with the stock injectors are also on,new o-rings to fit blower manifold were supplied and swaped on to stock injectors. Now i have a problem.I didn't number the injector plugs so i don't know which wires go to which injectors on the drivers side. Can somebody take a picture of theirs and post it so i can get a look? The altenator electric plug( it has orange plastic on the weather pack connection) and an injector are on one of the harness wires and the EVAP plug( it has blue plastic on weather pack connection) and another injector are on another part of the harness next to each other, just dont know which is injectors are number one and four on drivers side.If someone could post a picture of theirs it would be greatly appreciated. This is hard work for my old body, but it will be worth it and thanks for the four wheel auto tip

Let us know how the install goes, i'm very interested! As far as mpg, what are your driving habits? I'm averaging around 14 right now driving to work and back, and that is through town, mind you it's not stop and go traffic. I thought my driving habits weren't too bad.I never floor it and hold it there.I haven't been in stop and go backed up traffic, just normal around town stuff.Had the truck dynoed yesterday to get a baseline before the supercharger install. The dyno tech couldn't keep the trans from down shifting when he nailed it.This kept giving horsepower and torque curves a loop on the graph. What he did manage to get was 311hp peak at the wheels. So somewhere around a loss of 22% of the flywheel horsepower was being lost through the drive train.Tech said anywhere from 20 to 25% is typical. My mileage with a TVS1900 supercharger has been right at about 12.7 MPG in the city, and on a road trip this week I got 16.7 MPG on the highway at roughly 72 - 73 miles per hour. I anticipate those numbers rising slightly as I only have about 3800 miles on the truck. Where did you get that Callaway Silverado? Never seen or heard about that truck. It looks bad ass.How well does that thing get down the road?

Me and a buddy of mine spent 7 hours on the supercharger install today, got to step 31 out of 116 or so.One of the hottest days ever here in Baltimore, garage was very toasty,no AC.Had to stop and make a trip to Pep Boys for Quick disconnect tool for fuel line and some red loctite, and teflon thread sealer for reinstall of oil pressure sending unit into replacement lifter valley plate.Diffenently no AFM on this 6.2l L9H.So far, following install instructions everything going good.Takes a lot of time figuring out how to disconnect the varies electronic connections. They all have a little trick on getting them off, takes patience to figure them out,if not, things would be getting snapped off.At it again tomorrow, don't think it will be done until Monday.
