Squeak Noise V4 to V8, (It can't just be me?)

Squeak Noise V4 to V8, (It can't just be me?)
Trackermi replied to Trackermi's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I spent an hour or so at the dealership today with a service manager, two field techs and a customer service rep. Long story short they bolted it open until they get a resolution on the problem. They thought they had it, then not. They agreed to replace the exhaust once the issue was resolved regardless of where the mileage is at on the truck for warranty. The issue now is there is a drone noise if your putting around in 4. Much better than a squeaky tow. They acknowledged that I am not the only one, there are several out there. -
So my second GM 2014 Sierra has the same issue as the first one. The exhaust baffle gets stuck and then the pressure forces the valve open and causes a dry socket squeak. Some noted interior noise, I initially thought the same thing till I realized (and the dealer) it only happened when going from V4 to V8. So my last truck had 5 exhaust systems (2 damaged upon shipment), this new truck now has had the exhaust replaced and is now doing it again. Took it back to the dealer and going for a ride tomorrow with a few GM reps. Last week after it was repaired a GM rep went with me also. So I ask myself, that is 6 exhaust systems, two different trucks. How the heck is this just me? Or do most not notice, listen to loud radios or is it really just me. Please reply if you truck underneath squeaks going from V4 to V8. I have also noticed very poor migration from 4 to 8 if you don't correct the issue. Thoughts???

I think the iridium with cocoa interior is a great combo. I have had all black interiors before and this cocoa/dune is really nice. Secondly the truck was sitting in the sun all day, the seats and interior were much cooler than my all terrain black would have been. I don't mind the chrome denali wheels, but really did like the look of my all terrain. -

That's 18 percent of people on forum not any where near a true number of owners. Regardless no point going back and forth. I hope you all get your trucks fixed as they should -

Nothing scientific, just that most that post on here are the same people. In addition I have not found a lot of others on forums with same topics. I have test driven several and this forum was found due to another issue however it helped me do extra tests on my replacement in case I could advert these issues. But honesty I have not driven one yet that vibrated. Hence why before I was curious of a you tube video to see the effect. -

I have had two, neither with vibration issues. Long story short, I love the truck regardless of the first ones issues. It happens, and this forum is where we all talk about it. I would say less than 1% off all the trucks have the issues. That is still a high number though... -------- 2014 Sierra Denali (new) 2014 Sierra All Terrain, SLT (old) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD -

The Denali replaced the All Terrain due to issues. My problem was how long and repetitive issues. It did not vibrate but did have the exhaust issues in addition to others. Secondly the new Denali I am leaving the stock tires on for now and the truck is actually smoother than the old one. Only put on new tires on the old one for the all terrain look and towing. So far I like the replacement better. The iridium is killer! Only thing is the new collision detection seems worthless, however like the lane departure. -

Also, you trade assistance cash should be a reflection to the trade offer and purchase price of identical replacement . Remember GM has limited control over a dealership so if they offer low trade, you need to increase the buy back. But be fair about it and all should work out -

I will write a reply after my deal is over soon. Let's say 5k is a low offer, depending on state laws. A buy back is a lemon law claim, trade in assistance if the vehicle issues meet the requirements should be handled in the same way. Honestly trade in assistance cash should be on par or night than a full but back as the dealer and GM profit from the second sale whereas a buy back they do not. Certain states also require even during a lemon claim that you pay mileage and it's published. Your guys can PM me for details on how I did mine, but before you start the process first make sure your vehicle has hit the lemon statue, otherwise your buy back offer could be lower and you not have a lot to work with. -

You guys should do a you tube review and post a link. I would love to see this in action, as I am curious to the depth of the vibrations. I have driven three and none had the vibration issues. My soon to be replaced all terrain has 20k on it and the issues were other than vibrations. Kinda worried and hope the denali does not develop issues. I have already test driven it twice, smooth as butter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD -
GM in general needs their head examined. I have 19k miles. Mine are not spots, they are sections. It's pretty bad to say the least for a 9 month old truck. Probably the worst on this forum due to an early owner and in a winter / salt area. I wish I would have kept my avalanche... Just frustrating dealing with piss poor products at the price these things go for. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

For what it's worth. I have test driven two denali trucks to replace my all terrain (due to other issues). Neither of which had any vibrations. I will say it was odd that the tire pressure on both trucks were set to 37-41 PSI. Both had build dates later than 4/22. Hopefully it was just a bad batch or whatever... -

I freaking love!!! Mine. Awesome for MTN biking and locking stuff up out of site. Hate the hard folders for what I do -
Same thing here. I did it as a test and the noise was removed. I put mine back for now. Curious on the effect on overall engine responsiveness and MPG. Not sure it matters much but mine seems to shift into V8 better without the valve. I know sometimes it seems like it gets stuck and the truck runs like crap.

Just a side note, this is not 90 pages of problems. It's 90 pages of communication about problems. Yes for sure an issue but I bet there really in only about 5 pages of actual problems. The rest is the I between communication. Just the way I see it. I don't have any vibration issues and have 19k miles. -

Depends on state, however the first reported issue has to take place within the first year of ownership not your lemon law claim/suit. In my state I don't recall seeing a mileage restriction other than the main lemon classifying issue must be reported with 12 months of purchase. But a lot of states are different. Our is 4 times for the same problem or 30+ days in service within the first year. -
Mine does it also. It's slightly annoying, as my last two avalanches did not have this issue. It's a lag when accelerating if not from a full stop where I notice it the most. I would believe it's programmed in favor of fuel. I am planning to drive a 6.2 this weekend to get a good feel for the vehicle vs the 5.3 I have now. Went to CA on vacation and used a 2013 Tahoe and it did not have the lag, nor the mpg either...lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

For what its worth, I had tires changed to a larger load capacity tire upon delivery of the truck. I am not a fan of the stock 111 rated tires for towing a travel trailer. Upon my first highway trip I noticed the shaking also, however I went to the tire place in stead and started there. They stated that they wanted to do a more advanced balance and review and did not have the tools at the location. They took the truck and did a balance with assumed weight and speeds in excess of 70 MPH simulated and were able to correct the issue. I am not sure what they call it however its more advanced that sticking the tire on a balancer. It needs to actually have pressure against the tire to find the issue. No issue ever again... -
My Ducati has this baffle in there and once you hit a certain rpm it opens up all the way. I was told it was for CA emissions and noise control regulations for the bike to pass as the test is done at idle. But my sierra has a high pitch noise coming from under the engine area in the exhaust when going from 4-8. I don't see this baffle all the way in the back causing this. Are there two baffles. Or one flapper valve and one baffle? Yes the exhaust system has been replaced and second one does it also after a few thousand miles. Just trying to figure out where in the front area would that noise come from. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

17k miles on my all terrain, no seat issues. Heated but not cooled seats. 6'0 185 lbs. Heap of other issues but seats are not one of them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
