  1. When I installed mine, I had to reverse the polarity of the pins in a connector in the capacitor link. The factory bulb harness is wired backwards compared to what the HD relay harness needed. It's easy to extarct the connector pins and swpa them around. John
  2. My guess is you got a set of bad bulbs. That blob is not normal AFAIK. Can you get your hands on a spare bulb to try? John
  3. OK folks. I finished my FX-R install this afternoon. I did have one major problem yesterday I didn't mention. As it turns out, my housing's stock projector mounting bosses were a tad too short. When I tightened the screws and admired my handiwork, I heard a pop after a few minutes. Looking at the lens, I saw immediately what happened: the lens cracked and a chunk came out. It looks like the cause was that the lens housing was being smushed up hard against the lens port in the housing. I immediately called TRS and inquired if they had replacement lenses... Thankfully they did, and I had one overnighted! Shipping was more than twice the price of the lens replacement, but I got it today and completed the job. What I ended up doing was gluing washers onto the stock bosses as spacers to get the pressure off the FX-R projector. My driver's side needed one washer per boss. Oddly enough, the passenger side needed two per boss. I just used CA glue to keep them in place until the projector was installed. They fit perfectly now! Here's what I did: Cheers, John
  4. I got half of my FX-R conversion done tonight... Vehicle is a 2014 Sierra 1500. Here are some pics of stock vs FX-R with 3Five ballasts and bulbs: Front on view, stock vs FX-R (This isn't exactly a good photo. The iPhone doesn't do well with bright lights. The drivers side isn't that blinding or yellow in real life) Low beams, stock vs FX-R (Driveway is not level so they look like they're slanted) High Beams, stock vs FX-R (same reason for slant) Cheers, John
  5. Thanks dude! I ordered the stage III kit with the 3" FX-R projectors, no halo, no shrouds. It all came to $240 and change, with shipping, using the black Friday coupon code. I wasn't sure about the harness, so I went with the 9006 harness with a note in the order to substitute something else in case I guessed wrong. I figured since the stock 9012's supposedly have the same connector has 9006's, I'll be good to go. Hopefully they see the note and do the right thing... Had my wife in the truck tonight (raining out) and she asked if my headlights were even on! Sheepishly I said yes and told her I dumped $240 on the HID kit. She understood immediately! But, she's spoiled. Her Acura RDX has awesome lights. The stock headlights are positively dangerous! I'm waiting for some lawyer to ding GM - the headlights are a disgrace! As I stated in my OP, I will take lots of photos, before and after pics, etc... John

  7. I too am disgusted with the headlights on my 2015 Sierra SLT. It's looks relatively easy to install FX-R's into the factory housing and I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Stage III kit from Retrofitsource.com. They're not there today on account of the Thanksgiving holiday, but I want to order the kit now since they're having some sweet black Friday deals. That's where I need help: 1) What size FX-R do I need? 2.5" or 3"? 2) What harness should I get. They have numerous options. After reading this thread a bunch of times I can't figure out these items. Thanks for your prompt help!!!! I'll post pics of the install with before and after headlight porn... John
