  1. Uh huh. Sure they have. Riiiiiiiiight. lol
  2. According to your own posts, you haven't actually received anything. So, until then, it's all just broken promises and crushed dreams. lol
  3. The only things he has gotten for free so far are broken promises, excuses, and missed shipped dates.
  4. So, he can sell the product and clearly turns a good profit on it. What does that have to do with -him- having issues with Bak? Once the return period is over (and it may well be very strict on covers), everything goes through the manufacturer. THAT'S where Bak falls flat on their face, hard. They make a mediocre product based on super-minimalistic designs and don't stand behind it. They can't even get their own story straight internally on their products and different people tell you different things about the products. When I challenged them on their half-baked design for the 6.5' bed trucks, the warranty guy said he'd call my reseller, and three days later a pre-paid shipping label showed up with no further communications from anyone. He knew I had him cornered as to their horrendous design and had no way to actually address the issue and he washed his hands of the whole thing.
  5. And you're still dealing with whatever shortcomings there are of the Bak cover itself. I'm done with Bak. The reseller is trying to push me off to working with Bak, and Bak wants me to work with the reseller. Cover is going back and I'm moving on. Seems I will likely end up with an UnderCover since it's basically the only one out there that actually is designed the way that I want it. I'll be reaching out to them to discuss specifics on their cover, its size, design, etc.
  6. I wasn't trying to say they didn't make one, I was saying they need to make it LONGER (it's too short - just like the Bak covers - by about 1.5"-2").
  7. I had a Bak F1 in the past and was happy with it ('11 Tundra Crew Max, short bed). I currently have a Bak HD and am grossly disappointed so far in the cover, and in the customer support. I have a warranty replacement cover arriving tomorrow (my original cover was bad out of the box, no confidence as of yet that the new one will be any better). They claim that the covers for beds longer than about 5'9" (they won't commit to an actual size) are four panels and not three to adhere with a supposed federal law/regulation prohibiting the high-mounted stop light from being covered when it's folded up. But, the UnderCover covers are ALL three panel and use the same 4" wide panel at the front to anchor the cover in the first place. The Bak HD I currently have leaks at the bulkhead, leaks along each side rail, and leaks at the tailgate. It doesn't sit flush and smooth along the length, the rubber seals have not settled out flat (and it's been on the truck a month), it doesn't fold up smoothly, and I absolutely can't stand that the third panel does not latch to the rail. The fact that Bak provides no actual technical details (measurements) of the covers, does not indicate that all covers are four panels except for the one for the short bed, and they do no provide ANY vehicle-specific installation instructions is bad enough - their terrible customer service throughout my experience so far has left me feeling like I absolutely NEED to find a different cover and sell this one off before it breaks and they won't honor the warranty on it. The roll-up covers are useless to me (completely open or completely closed are not the only two options that I need, and giving up bed space won't work for me because I must be able to access the area of my bed all the way to the front). Fold-A-Cover's "you'll just have to take it off if you need access to the whole bed" process doesn't work for me, and I'm skeptical as to the cover over the lock not causing problems during the winter. Cloth / vinly covers just flap around in the wind and make noise and they don't provide any security for items in the bed. IMHO, the UnderCover cover would be ideal if they'd get their head out of their a$$ and lengthen it by two inches for the 6'6" bed.
  8. This cover looks like it's a direct knock-off / copy of the Bak G2. Any input on that? And, what's your impression of its size compared to that of the bed? It seems like the rear panel falls in just about the exact same spot as my Bak HD, and my opinoin is that it means the cover is too short by about 1.5" (because it's also pulled all the way back to the back-most edge of the bulkhead rail).
  9. I appreciate the comment, but I'm specifically looking for info on the OEM steps.
  10. Looking for anyone with a Double Cab '14-'15 DIESEL (must be diesel) that has the OEM 6" rectangular steps installed. The diesel kit includes different brackets compared to the kit for the gas motor trucks, and I'm wondering if the passenger side step feels nice and solid compared to the driver's side step. The mounting setup on the diesel just seems like it would NOT be as solid because the passenger side step mounts with one full bracket and two "split brackets" instead of three full brackets, but I would also expect that any mounting system developed for the diesel truck would need to be just as solid. If you have one of these kits on your truck and can comment on the sturdiness of the passenger side step compared to the driver's side, I would really appreciate it!
  11. In vehicles with sunroofs, there are drain tubes that pass down the A pillars and B pillars to drain water away to the ground. If these become plugged for any reason, the water will back up in the drain tube and end up running down from the headliner area. Maybe that's what had happened to you?
  12. Ugh. They all graduated from the same Moron Marketing school. Hadn't seen that. Have to admit - not terribly impressed with BAK's customer service overall, although I really haven't needed much from them aside from information.
  13. I had a BAK Industries F1 installed on my last truck and was exceptionally happy with it. It NEVER left any water inside of the bed because it has a drain system integrated into the rails - water either runs down the channel and out at the back, or it runs forward and down through plastic tubing that you route to the drain holes of the bed. I also liked the relatively flush mounting (not exactly flush, but definitely not above the rails like the FAC. I've purchased another BAK for my '15 Sierra (the HD this time) and will be installing it as soon as my liner situation is squared away. One thing that I ran into with the BAK, that might not be an issue with the FAC, is that the drainage tubes at the front of the rails are interfered with by the GM drop in liner. So, I'm having that taken out and a spray-in liner done instead. From a price perspective, the BAK can be gotten for much less than the FAC (at least for what they charge on their factory store site). And, the fact that they're still advertising the "tonneau covers increase your gas mileage" stuff turns me off to them as a company. This myth has been debunked for a long time.
  14. I was able to get them off of eBay for my truck (22805440 - Double Cab Chrome) for $475 shipped. My local dealer, where I bought the truck, was "nice enough" to offer them to me at 10% off of MSRP. $650 - $65 = $585 + tax. I told them I had a source to get them for under $500 to my door, and they actually told me in no uncertain terms to take the deal.
  15. Thanks for the response. My understanding is that these are available as a Dealer-Installed option but also come factory-installed, too. I will have to check back with my dealer to see which method of install was used for these. You said "you could even get the tread part bed lined..." - I'm guessing you're saying to have the tread portion of the board sprayed with bed liner material? I suppose that might be an option. I guess I'm wondering how they "break in" in terms of traction. I had a set on my last truck that were OEM (Toyota). They were very functional for me, but I don't remember if they were a bit on the slippery side when new. I also installed them in warmer weather originally, so that could have factored in.
  16. Hi, All. I have a '15 Double Cab Sierra that I'm considering putting OEM 6" Rectangular boards on. I stopped in at the dealer yesterday and looked at a set installed on a truck on the lot. I was kind of surprised that a) the boards seemed to be mounted pretty close up to the cab, leaving a minimal amount of room to plant your foot on them and b) being more slippery than I would have expected (on the tread surface). Can anyone comment on their actual usability and traction? For me, the predominant reason for having them is to be able enter the truck "backwards" and sit on the seat with my feet still outside so that I can knock off snow and dirt before swinging my legs into the truck. I personally do not need the assistance from a height perspective, but others in the family may get some value there. But, if you can't get a larger boot on them (I was wearing dress shoes last night) in the cold weather, they aren't going to be very valuable to me.
