  2. The word from the dealers is that there is a learning process involved with transmission programming. That may be the case in some small way. There may be some routine that fine tunes the base program. The funny thing is, I didn't experience any learning mode when I applied a Diablo tune to my transmission. The change was immediate and for the better. So I'm kind of skeptical about this "learning" mode thing. I'm not sure whether the transmission is adapting to the owner or vice versa. Anyway, to address your question directly, don't baby the truck. Drive it like you normally would and after 5000 miles or so, if it isn't right take it in for service. Trust me, you wouldn't be the first.
  3. I agree with the above statement 100%. AFM was never an issue for me. I actually liked it. The issue was the EPA biased transmission programming and engine tune. My aftermarket tune took care of both issues. And one other thing. This transmission "learning mode" is, in my opinion, something that I don't fully buy into. I didn't experience any learning mode when I installed my tune. It was a light switch experience. My transmission immediately began to function like a transmission should. So even if there is a learning mode involved, I can't believe that the engineers at GM couldn't come up with a better basic transmission program than the one currently being used in our trucks.
  4. I think I would have responded, "Error codes or no, the unit is malfunctioning, it is under warranty, I want the system replaced." Obviously the issue isn't with the programming. The issue must be in the hardware. They should be obliged to begin replacing system components until the problem is repaired.
