  2. I assumed if you were working with a tech that would advise running a flex fuel sensor without a tune it was a dealer tech. I am sure they will take good care of you.
  3. Incorrect, the ECU sees a frequency output from the sensor but does nothing with it. Think of it a an employee yelling feedback to a deaf manager, not going to help. The 16 tune files have a stoich of 14.11:1 across the board for the AFR vs alcohol % so even if it could tell the % it would not alter the commanded AFR's. If your dealer tech knew what he was doing he could flash a stock flex file into your truck and ENABLE the fuel composition sensor. Without some sort of programming you are doing more harm than good. Flex or no flex they all received the same fuel system.
  4. They don't install sensors in the trucks because they cost millions for ppl that do not use them. My guess is they made them standard on 14 5.3'some to show off the gains and then made them optional.
  5. Do not put E85 in a stock non E85 truck. They do not have the ability to recognize or perform self checks on the sensor. You will likely set 171/174 codes. As for the hoses it is a great way to do it. We install and sell our kits because they are quicker to install and work on all vehicles.
  6. We look at tuning different, my view is taking a stock calibration and optimizing for maximum gains. I would not say I "tuned" a vehicle with a stock tune on it. I see what you are saying from a warranty standpoint. I personally am in search of a local one currently, the ECU and TCM are separate modules and you should be able to flash a flex tune out of a 5.3, A6 into the A8 (again I need one to test). Aftermarket tuning will work just fine. You will still need to install the hardware to make it work (fuel comp sensor, wiring harness).

  11. They did, I am a truck fan and have been for a long time. I currently own a 05 2500hd with a Maggie (shop truck) and built a really fun leveled, turbo, 00 Silvy (DSLEATR). I have been looking at doing a nasty little 14/15 RCSB so I have been lurking on the site for a while. Summer is crazy busy but now I have a little more time to reconnect! ^^This, these high torque DI motors are perfect for trucks, really impressed with the performance! 5th gear, limiter is not turned of, just raised to a non-intrusive level!
  12. Yes, this is a full flex fuel conversion. It auto adjusts accordingly. All you have to do is drive and refuel. DI engines with high compression ratios (11.5:1 for the 6.2 and 11.0 for the 5.3) love the extra octane tolerance. Peak to peak gains are good but power under the curve is where it counts!
  13. Reported on HPtuners was 62% on the 5.3 and 69% on the 6.2. True E-85 reads about 70-73% on the GM sensor and scanner.

  16. Here you go, this is a 15 GMC 6.2 L86 A8 w/air intake. I was hoping for a stoker but it was as close as I could get. Stock- 332/383 Tuned - 353/409 picked up 21whp and 26 ft/lbs over stock Tune E85 - 370/432 Picked up 38whp and 49 ft/lbs over stock
  17. It appears that all trucks run the same fuel lines to sensor. The line that is different is the long one to the engine. Not sure what you are referring to messing with the fuels. We did need to run part of the stock front line and part of the replacement? I am happy with our most recent kits and the way the that work on ALL trucks/suvs. Here is one we did today that I snapped a few pics of.

  19. ^^This is good^^ You always want to operate the transmission as a 1:1 ratio. For 4l60/80 and most other A4's that is third gear, That holds true with older TH350/400's as well, glides are done in 2nd/high gear. 6l80's you dyno in 4th gear (which is not a 1:1, it is 1.15:1). 8 speeds are a 1:1 gear ratio in 6th gear. We always want to dyno in a 1:1 gear ratio but high wheel and driveshaft speeds prevent that. Most dyno operators are dynoing big trucks with 6 and 8 speeds in 3rd and 4th gear. The loss in power is moslty caused by parasitic loss in the gear reduction not a dyno calibration.
  20. It is not plug and play, you can install the lines and sensor without setting a code and then have a custom tune done to optimize. Your second option is to load a factory flex fuel tune right from GM. If you have a knowledgeable dealer tech or independent shop they should be able to figure that out.
