  1. steelcity I'm not sure if the '19 model has the same driveshaft as the '14-'18 however the two piece drive shaft sure took the high speed shake out of mine. Many here reported having the stock one trued and balanced helping somewhat as well. It was worth the money to me (performance driveline kit) to be able to travel at 73 mph+ and not have the truck feel like I was in a paint shaking machine. Have you replaced the A/C condenser yet on your '16? If not go ahead and purchase one now because you most assuredly will be replacing the stock one.
  2. Hey guys, as an owner of a 2014 double cab, standard bed, two wheel drive w/ 20" factory rims that I bought new in late 2013 and here's my take on fixing the 73+ mph shake: REPLACE THE 7' ALUMINUM DRIVE SHAFT WITH A TWO PIECE STEEL 1) The vehicle is a "tuning fork" being very sensitive to every little thing (tire balance, axle flanges out of round, lug centric rims, etc.) 2) The stock excessively long, thin walled, enormously sized diameter shaft starts to act like a jump rope at higher speeds, look under other manufactures trucks like a Toyota and you'll find a two piece drive shaft, even some of the older GM were two piece. 3) The use of Michelin LTX tires helped my highway shake a lot but it took 7 tires to find 4 that were able to reach acceptable numbers on the road force balancer. I still had a small vibration which grew worse with time. After replacing the drive shaft on my 2014 with the performance driveline kit, it rides smooth at highway speeds even with 22" aftermarket rims and cheaper tires. It is not quite as smooth as my last 2002 Silverado but I can now take the 2014 on long interstate trips without being pi**ed off about the nasty vibrations at 73+ mph. Just my take on it........now on to replace the faulty A/C condenser, compressor and suction line.....should have bought the Toyota!!
  3. Wow was I surprised to find the 455 pages of vibration issues with the 2014 and newer GM trucks....I bought one after having a 2002 extended cab for 245,000 miles and still riding smooth, what a big mistake, thinking I would get similar results with my 2014 Silverado double cab, standard box 2wd LT Sport edition w/20" rims....right?...How wrong I was!!!!! I bought my silvershaker late in 2013 and first noticed a slight vibration at highway speeds (70+mph) after a couple thousand miles, took it in and paid for tire balancing and was told the 20's were what was the difference in the ride quality. The majority of my driving is local with the ride being smooth below 70mph and it still is today. The dealership continued to give excuses for the vibration with the focus on the tires (Continental) so after 30K it was time for a change. Now with 22's and 305/45 Coopers road forced balanced close to perfection, my silvershaker is continually getting worse which led me to swap my wheel and tire setup with a friend with a non-shaker 2015 (he's got lucky). His truck is still smooth with my wheels and no vibration relieve with his wheels (18's) on my silvershaker. IT'S NOT THE TIRES. GM KNOWS IT......I ALSO KNOW IT NOW!!!! Hence my research which led me here, what a dumb ass I was to listen to anyone at GM with BS about tires. Makes one wonder how many others are unaware of the issues GM is having and is prolonging to resolve. I will be dumping my GM disappointment and have some advice for all others: AVOID ALL 2014 AND NEWER GM TRUCKS.
