  1. That may be a possibility in some cases but not mine. A couple of times I've worked my '16 Silverado Z71 LT 5.3 to about 90 MPH, then put it in neutral, and the vibe continues until the truck slows to 65-70ish, so mine likely isn't engine related. Some here swear it's the driveshaft, or tires, or wheels, or tq. converter, or..... Some have had success in changing/swapping tires and or other parts. And some have spent allot of $$ changing a few to several parts, and no success. That said, what you describe may be the cause of your vibration, and possibly for some others here. But it's prolly not the end all to the vibe issues. But thank you for your input.
  2. That FB thing looks to be quite the bitch fest. None are any good. Guess when I get rid of my Viberado I'll be buying a horse.
  3. When I was a kid I worked in a gas station (50 years ago). We sold, mounted, and balanced hundreds of tires on cars and trucks. And through the years I've had lots of cars and trucks that I had tires replaced on after they wore out. 95% didn't have or cause any vibrations. God bless those that are trying to solve the Chevy vibe issues, but generally it seems to go way deeper than just tires and or wheels. GM engineers know what the problem is, or problems are, they just aren't letting the cat out'a the bag. Class action might help but what I believe what we really need is for major news organizations (yeah, even the "fake news" folks) to be made aware of the issue and report it. Make the problem known to the public at large, not just the unsuspecting suckers that buy these trucks.
  4. No way in hell I'll go for a '19. That said, when the time comes to replace my '16 shaker I'll do in depth research before buying, which I did not do before buying my '16. 90% of the trucks I've had in the past 40 or so years have been GMs. All but my current '16 were either trouble free or fixable. Yeah I know, every brand has its issues and prolly every manufacturer might or will try and wiggle out of a warranty fix. But GM has basically said flat out go fark yourself.
  5. Same here. My '07 Sierra before buying my current '16 Chebby shaker was a great riding and driving truck, but turning into a rust bucket. I feel violated #metoo LOL. Not funny at all but wtf, GM isn't stepping up...
  6. GMs response to this is a bit surprising to me but.... I've mentioned this before, but I'll mention it again. I believe the GM engineers (GM has an army of engineers) DO know what the problem is that's causing the shakes. My guess is that it's an expensive fix and that's why shake owners are being blown off. There are other truck brands out there to buy and I'll be doing my research on them when the time comes to replace my '16 Silverado.
  7. No vibes.... That must be a Ford LOL
  8. Long time GM customer here, since the early 80s. But after having my '16 Silverado vibrator for a little over a year and a half, I'll be looking at Ford when the time comes.
  9. A 2018.... My 2016 Z71 Chebby has a vibe, much like many others referred to here. For whatever reason my truck seems pretty much ok on the highway at 73-74 for the 1st 20 miles or so, then the vibe usually begins the come and go thing, and eventually the vibe stays. I had thought about trading it in on an '18 but then reality hit.... '18 is the same basic POS truck as the '16, so wtf good would it do. I'll wait and see how the 2019s do or maybe the 2020 versions. And if I'm not still pissed at GM for selling me a faulty truck and then not making it right, I might consider a 19 or 20. But will more likely go over to one of the GM competitors. Yes, thank you, I know they all have their issues. But it's pretty apparent GM isn't too concerned about their customers. FWIW, the service manager at the dealership where I bought the truck is a bullshitter. But I'd guess GM isn't any more concerned about their BS'ing dealers any more than they are about their poorly designed trucks or their customers. So fuk'm. Rant over LOL
  10. I agree, GM knows what the cause is, or causes are. I'm quite sure GM has a small army of engineers in their employ, as well as outsiders who have the answer/s. The only reason not to address/fix the shake is because it's a major and expensive fix. Hard to believe but they seem to be getting away with not making it right for the vehicles and or owners affected. Long live GM aka Government Motors.
  11. Ok, so a low % of the GM trucks have the vibration problem. That might be correct, but we will likely never know what the % of affected trucks actually is. But if the % is low, if that is correct, true, whatever, why does GM not fix the issue for the customers whose trucks do have the vibration problem? If there are not that many affected trucks or the % of trucks affected is so low, the overall cost to GM for the fix would be low as well. GM has a gaggle of engineers on the payroll and prolly a crap load more outside the corporate, so GM knows what the cause or causes of the vibration are. Apparently GM just sucks when it comes to making things right, honoring their warrantee. But GM seems pretty good at convincing some dealer service reps to lie. I sure am glad Obama used our/my $$ to bail the bastards out. I know.... just another useless rant LOL
  12. Yep, those who were or are tenacious and or smart enough to get a buy back. oh... Hi Jessie!! (o:
  13. You did get lucky, congrats. Having one of the vibrators is kind'a like having a bad back.... hard to appreciate it until it happens to you.
  14. I have a 2016 Z71 Chebby extended 4x4 5.3 vibrator in red hot, kewl ass truck.... but love/hate sitch, ya know? Talking to my daughter last weekend and she told me her hubby was at a GM dealer in the midst of pulling the trigger on a '17 4x4 LT, same POS I bought a year ago. I suggested that she call him asap, and why. She said it was too late, papers have been signed. I told/reminded her that in NY State ya got 3 days 72 hours to pull out of a contract. Then the discussion went towards the grand kids, and other stuff. So, I called her a while ago to see what's what, and asked if hubby went thru with the truck deal. Yep, he got it. She said no vibration/s. They're young and not $loaded$ so I hope the truck doesn't start the vibrating bullshit....fingers crossed.
  15. Haven't been here much lately. Anyways, I have about 11,000 miles on my '16 Silverado and like most here, paid big bucks for a vibrator. When I was truck shopping last year I looked at the Colorado as an option but there wasn't much price difference between that and the Silverado, so I bought the Viberado. What a mistake ): I've been thinking about trading my current truck in on a GMC Canyon, but I know I'll take it in the azz on a trade deal. Fuk you GM.........
  16. My guess is GM engineers know what the cause is and what the fix is. Guess also the fix is expensive. Maybe too expensive for GM to step up and make it right. Fuk you GM for selling me a $45K truck that you knew had issues.
  17. Wallmart sells stainless steel scrubby pads (for pots'n pan's). When I put my motorsickle away for the winter (shed behind the house) I shoved Wallyworld stainless steel pads into the exhaust pipes to keep the mice out. Same stuff might work under the hood of our trucks??
  18. My '16 Z71 Silverado has been to the dealer twice, no success with getting rid of the shakes. Last visit was 10/25 when dealer tried to convince me the vibrations (+,- 45 MPH and 70 on up to +85) was due to the "aggressive tread" of my Dueler A/Ts. That was after re-balancing the tires. After holding back my laugh and letting the service manager know I wasn't a total fk'n idiot, he said put another 1000 miles on the truck, then call and make another appointment and they would switch tires/wheels off another truck and see if that helps. I've held off on setting another appointment because, as the temperatures have decreased here in central NY, the truck's vibe issues are now more hit and miss. Sometimes the vibration is hardly noticeable, other times it's bad, very noticeable. Damn thing only vibrates about 70%-80% of the time in the cold. Funny how I bitch about LACK of vibration. Geezus it's frustrating )o:
  19. Same thing has happened to me and my '16 Silverado, twice. Mystery....just plain fk'n weird. Edit in;;; My nephew called me to shoot the shit, and said he's in the market for a new truck, said he really likes the Chevy's, and asked me how I liked my '16 Silverado Z71. I told him that it's a damn purdy fire engine red, the 5.3 is plenty adequate, it sifts smooth, and the seats are real comfy. And added that, sometimes it's not really all that pleasurable to drive due to the vibration and BS that goes along with it. He'll be looking at other brands, unless he finds a '13 1500 or older in real good condition. As far as their trucks are concerned, GM is shooting themselves in the foot one buyer at a time.
  20. Wowski !! From the frying pan into the fire, and then from there into the unknown LOL. Friend of mine just bought a new F250 with a V8 and loves it. My '16 Z71 seems to have pretty much ceased vibrating with the onslaught of cold weather... go figure. So Looks like I'll prolly have to wait until spring time to jump back into the fray. But that's ok. Hopefully a welcome break from the vibes and the bullshit.... for now I guess Best of luck with that new Ferd, Jesse!!
  21. Yep... That's what I was thinking would happen.
  22. My '16 Z71 has vibrated since day one at around 45 mph and then again at about 75 mph and up. Little over 2,500 miles on it at present. I have dealer appointment no. 3 set for Wed. 12/14. Thing is, the vibration is hardly there at all for the past week or so. Only reason I can think of is the cold temps here in central NY?? Same thing happened a few weeks ago when we had a little cold snap. I'm thinking of canceling my 12/14 visit to the dealer and waiting for warmer weather, as I have no doubt the vibrations will be back....not sure what to do now. To me, there's no sense in taking it in if the vibes aren't there. What do you guys think...delayed visit make sense??
  23. Yessir.... yer about as clever as a rubber crutch.... now, clever or not, I just made that one up LOL As you can see by reading my previous post, Mr. service manager was more clever than either of us, or so he thought when he said Dueler treads are aggressive and causing my new Chebby to vibrate?!? Sherrrr they is LMAO. I hope in the future that shit service from GM ain't the new normal
  24. You make good sense Snoringbear. And I agree, The gov should have let GM be, instead of helping its way to Government Motors LOL. You're right too when you say there may be or are more than one root or proximate cause/s of the vibration. Regardless, the problem with the fix is that GM seems to dictate to the dealers (at least my dealer) that they force the customer to return numerous times to address the issue. Make it as much of a pain in the ass as possible and hope the customer gets disgusted and just goes away? During my 1st dealer visit the service dept said they checked the balance on the tires, checked suspension and steering, and all is ok. This took them 2 hours. They then told me to drive it home and let them know if there are any more problems IE...they blew me off. Few weeks later I dropped the truck off for visit no. 2 and when I picked the truck up a tech and the service manager had put about 20 miles on the truck, and Mr. service manager tried to tell me the tread on my Dueler's was aggressive and therefore causing the vibration, and there was nothing they could do about it... oh really? So after a pointed but friendly conversation service manager said drive it another 1,000 miles (to 2,500 miles on the clock) and if that does not "wear the tires in" they will switch tires/rims with another truck to see if that cures the problem. They know it's not tire treads and the fact that they're suggesting that is simply an indication that they/GM are not honest, concerned, liars, or, they simply believe the customer is stupid. My guess would be all of the above. I expect there are allot more '14 - '17 GM truck owners with the vibration issue than those who participate on this site. The % of trucks that have the vibration issue is not known, to us. But I'd bet GM has a pretty good/close idea of the percentage. Member JesseD attempted to get a class action suit going on this but because no one was getting killed due to the vibration (that we know of), lawyers he spoke with didn't want to get involved....not worth the $$ to them. I would have no idea how to approach this, but I believe it could be helpful to GM customers if the national media was advised and involved in the issue and maybe rattled a few sabre's. Maybe if the word got out that we were paying 35K to 65K for trucks that rattled our fillings out, GM would sit up and take notice. And, it would give the lame stream media something to report on other than the current/usual drivel the spew on a daily basis LOL.
  25. Warped rotors my ass.
