  1. I've been looking at these as well. I prob can make it through this towing season before I get tires. They really sound like a good tire, I don't need an aggressive off road tread, but would like snow traction and I tow a lot during the warmer months. Hope to hear more about these tires.
  2. I got mine in June, z71 4x4 crew. Bought it to pull our camper, so reliability was a concern for us and I was a little worried at first. I had a CEL for the emissions that kept coming back. I did have some frustration but it was more with my dealer and their lack of knowledge on the new engine. But it turned out to be a pinched wiring harness that broke through the wire's insulation. They replaced the harness and that was it. I did get ECU and seat belt recall done. The ecu did seem to help drive ability and my commute millage went up a little. But no other problems and I am very happy with my truck.
  3. I've been driving direct injection cars, mostly European, for years. DI engines do require better fuel and oil. Most, if not all top tier gas have anti soot additives to reduce carbon build up on the valves after combustion (even though the fuel never touches the valves during injection, they use the VVT as a type of egr along with other recirculated exhaust gases) Oil also becomes more critical. Properties such as NOACK. Long and short the oil in vapor form cooks on the the valves via the PVC system. Countless 6.0's are at construction, landscaping, delivery, you name it business. I also bet they get jiffy lube oil changes and the lowest cost gas that can be found. Kind of makes the good ole 6.0 make sense doesn't it. I wish you could get a 6.2 in the HD trucks though.
  4. I towed our TT for the first time with the new 3/4 this weekend. I have to say on interstate and two lane the bigger truck does so much better. The big three push the half ton esp with the max tow options and the powerful engines but they sell you short about how the rest of the truck acts esp with a longer and / or heavier trailer. The 2500 is night and day better and as others tried to tell me, I am not worn out from driving with the 1500. Hooked up about to head out
  5. Upgraded my tow vehicle last night 6.6 goodness I tow with it in a week or so.
  6. Looks like no harm done. For stuff like hooking up the camper, I have my ritual and order of how I do things. Its always when something gets my out of my SOP that I forget something. We all learn things and we are fortunate when some Krylon will cover up our "learning experience"
  7. I don't think they are meant to pass through, mine won't. I have to hook the big end of the S through the hole in the hitch.
  8. This is what you need, a certified S hook https://www.curtmfg.com/part/81830
  9. first real trip of the season.
  10. I didn't see this thread or I wouldn't have started my own. I started noticing my Z71 equipped truck starting to handle a little sloppy but thought, hey only 20,000 miles and its a truck, what should I expect. But I was also getting nose dive on breaking I hook my camper up to tow back from the dealer and every overpass was like riding a boat. I get the camper home, ride the truck around a a bit and realize I have no shocks! No rebound esp. So I get shocks (not Ranchos) When I pull my old ones off, 3 of the 4 are having issues. 1 strut was leaking oil. 1 rear was leaking and wouldn't expand back when compress, the other rear, cavitation when compressing by hand sounded like a bulldog with a cold. I will say this too, it really shouldn't impact performance, but I was also shocked at how rusty the shocks were. I only had 20k miles on my 2015 and the most "off roading" was driving the wife to work in the snow. Mine is only one case so that is not scientific but to have 3 bad shocks with different symptoms (more or less) in suck low mileage.
