  1. Thanks for that! I'll check it out. My everyday non towing temps in this Ga heat right now are 155F-165F. Towing my boat this past weekend i was around 180F.
  2. What is this pill flip? Never heard of it
  3. I get that. I went thru automotive school in the late 70's (got tired of working on other peoples junk), then became a construction electrician. I built race cars back in the day, and from age 40-55 road raced motorcycles all over the SE U.S. building and maintaining those as well. I'm very aware of what kills transmissions. The rear end was just serviced about a year ago and the 4wd was serviced at 80K. I just screwed up and never did the transmission on this truck (traded in a 2003 D'max i owned since new at 350K for this truck, and because the Allison transmission was so easy and convenient to service, it got a new filter and fluid every 3rd oil change or approx 30K miles). Having said all that, yes, I'm a dumbass for not servicing the tranny on this truck. At 62 years old i don't feel like climbing under the damn thing anymore (haven't for many years), so I was going to let my dealer do it when they told me about this issue. Since then have spoken to a couple of others that have said the same thing. Hence why I am asking the question here.
  4. interesting. i might jinx myself, but this truck doesnt leak a drop of anything and never has. (knock on wood)
  5. So, i purchased this truck new in July 2017. Been a fantastic truck other than the crappy fuel economy that is typical of the 6.0 motor and the 6 speed transmission. It had a few hiccups that were covered under warranty including a "service 4wd" code that after 5 trips to the dealer they fixed (and still dont know what they did to fix it). But, here is my "dilemma". The truck has 135K miles. While i have religiously always done oil changes, ect., i have never done a transmission service. Ive had more than one person tell me that these trucks with this transmission that if it hasnt been serviced by now, NOT to service it as it could possibly start faulty shifting. Even the dealer where i bought it said that if i bring it to them to service, they will do it but cannot warrant that it wont start acting up. Is this true? Fluid is still full and still nice and pink with no burn smell. So should i just "leave it be" from now on and just add transmission fluid if it ever needs it or what?
  6. I will have to check that out. I never use that 110 volt port so it may or may not be working I wouldn't know
  7. Ugghh, figures. They've already replaced the harness on mine and its still doing it. I will say, mine doesn't happen every keystroke, it waits about every 2 to 3 weeks before it decides to come on once I dismiss it Thanks
  8. have you ever figured this out on yours?
  9. so what was the outcome?
  10. I just done both of the seats and took them out of the truck, pulling the leather off was a piece of cake putting it back on it was a little tough but it wasn't bad. I had the same apprehension you did before I got started
  11. Same mats I just ordered. Although I went ahead and got the piece that covers the hump as well.
  12. i bought replacements for my Duramax off Amazon. Plug and play.
  13. installed my "rock chip protector" (i wouldnt call these "bug deflectors"). This is the low profile made by AVS and purchased from 1A Auto.
  14. its the "unread content" button, top right, next to the Facebook icon.
  15. JdM's or a different brand?
  16. Between 2 and 4 months they would start flickering. That was on a 2003 Duramax so I don't know if anything has improved with the new electronics on these new trucks or not. But when I got ready to put my LED reverse lights in this 2017 2500 I went with a different company. they have been in here for about a month now, they were a little bit more expensive than the jdms were, so we will see how these do. The Chinese folks over at JDM I would actually talk to on the phone, and of course you know how that goes, they could barely speak English but they kept sending me new ones and within 2 to 4 months they would start flickering again so I finally just gave up.
  17. Good luck with the JDM. My last truck I went through 5 sets and finally gave up on them.
  18. G19, G4. No desire to carry anything else.
  19. Multimeter or test light work great
  20. LoL!! ok, guess thats what i get for skimming thru the posts and not reading thoroughly.
  21. so you turned a Sierra into a Silverado?
  22. I like my 6.0, BUT as i said in my original post, i had a 6.0 back in 2002, long before the items you guys talked about were introduced, and even in 2002, the fuel economy sucked. LoL. Its actually getting a tad bit better now with 3500 miles on the clock. My to and from work using back roads (45-55mph speed limits), and i'm up to right at 13.5-14 mpg. Headed to lake hartwell this coming Saturday for a fishing tournament so i'll get to see if my hwy mileage has improved any.
  23. please enlighten me, what is this ceramic coating you speak of?
  24. ROFLMAO!! i wont say what it looks like happened to your truck! Where did you get a foam cannon anyhow?
  25. i hear ya on the dmax issues. I hauled a race trailer for 12 years, so it was definitely a plus for me to have that rather than a gasser. I traded in my 02 HD with a 6.0 motor in it less than a year old as i was spending my race budget up before i ever got to the track at only 5-6 mpg. Dmax more than doubled that mpg and for the first 5 years, was trouble free. This 2500 i have now has everything i wanted in a truck. It was the only one like it within a 250 mile radius of where i was at when i bought it. Unfortunately (mpg speaking), it IS my daily driver. FORTUNATELY, i only drive 18 miles one way to work in virtually no traffic. I can deal with the crappy fuel economy when pulling my RV as we only go camping once every couple of months. Roadracing motorcycles, i was doing 18+ weekends a year hauling anywhere from 12K-15K pound race trailer and NEEDED something that was going to get "manageable" fuel economy and hold up to the long hauling time which i knew the Allison tranny was capable of.
