  1. Updated to IOS 13.3, seems to have done the trick. I plugged/unplugged 10 times and carplay started everytime with a 2 second lag. I had auto updates turned on on my phone, but I keep wifi turned off ; so it hadn't updated.
  2. Thanks, turning off bluetooth was not a fix. My IOS was still on 13.1 though. Hopefully the update cures it.
  3. It had a European map on the hmi, was able to update to 2019 N America map, but no voice commands. Bought off ebay and shipped to Magpie.Listed as Silverado hmi, obviously not from N. America. The nav is horrible anyway, would recommend hmi without nav.
  4. I tried turning off bluetooth on my iphone and it started carplay 3/3 times today. Not sure if this is a true fix or not, interestingly it turns bluetooth back on when it connects.
  5. Thanks for the reply, I only updated the radio and hmi for carplay/android auto. I only use these on a long trip(rarely). Kind of dissappointing that carplay isn't reliable( not surprising). Never been an apple fan, but my work likes them and the battery life is pretty amazing.
  6. One of Magpie's early customers here, totally satisfied customer. I did buy a European 2.5 hmi that doesn't support voice on nav ( not his fault). I"ve got an iphone 11 and have intermittent success getting carplay to start. Android Auto was flawless with my oneplus 6t. I first thought it was related to my seatbelt being unbuckled, but still not activating 100%. Using factory apple cable. Any thoughts?
  7. Thanks for the reply, I was hoping the voice files would have been contained in the map update.
  8. " speech recognition unavailable" , No voice directions from nav, hmi 84296483. I've got a 2014 silverado came with bose and nav. I was an early user of th3magpi3. Hmi from ebay was supposed to be from a 2017 silverado but had gps map of Europe. I was able to update the map to 2019 north america using usb; but have no voice directions from factory nav and if I push the phone button on steering wheel I get a " speech recognition unavailable" message on dic. Carplay/AA work as expected, onstar works from mirror. I assume this is from the HMI being from Europe, but it has to be a minor tweak if everything else is working. I'm not really worried enough to pull the hmi and reprogram, I'm just curious if anyone has any ideas?
  9. I know it's been brought up before; but my experience is that Apple Carplay works better with this mod than Android Auto. If I use my Iphone , I still have steering wheel volume control and voice commands ( for texts and calls), and sometimes I have dic info that is accurate. On my Nexus 5x I have no volume control on steering wheel and no info on dic. I don't know what the results would be if we updated the gauge cluster. My dic is usually on mph, and my arm is long enough to reach the volume knob on the radio; so it's not a big deal. I guess none of this is a big deal, except for the reading and recording of text messages by voice; I think that could be a game changer in regard to safety. I am older/ middle aged, but I still can be distracted by my phone.
  10. I would save the money and use Waze or Google maps. I had factory nav and paid extra to keep it ( about $200 more), it’s really bad. The nav antenna is routed above the glove box. There is a YouTube video
  11. Also, if you decide to go with factory nav; make sure you know which map is installed. I bought mine off ebay for $300 from inside the USA. Turns out it has a map for Europe. Not th3magpi3 fault. For me to have maps; it looks like I'll have to pony up another$100
  12. I got mine yesterday, install was pretty straightforward. I would not hesitate to use th3magpi3 again. He was very professional and courteous . My only advise would be to talk to him about customs and shipping beforehand( he can help you save some money). I would also skip the factory nav, and save $200.
  13. I can only speak for myself, but the reasons I did it were obviously cost and also curiosity about how this process works. I don't have the wherewithal to do this myself; but I don't mind trying to help someone else figure it out. I respect that you have a lot of time and money invested in your business. I don't begrudge anyone trying to make a living. Obviously, it would have been faster to go with your company. I've had my truck 4 years without AA/ACP, I can wait a little longer. I mean no disrespect to anyone.
