  1. If I could only get GM to realize the problem exists with my 6 speed tranny in my 2017 Silverado that I now have just 10,000 miles on.
  2. Have they ever decided to help out us 6 speed transmission people with the Mobil 1 tranny fluid? Mine is a 2017 Silverado with only 10,000 miles but still shaking, especially when I first get it going.
  3. Sad!! Lady with GM told me to take it to the shop again but to call her before I take it in. Hoping they plan on changing the fluid out for me even though it is the 6 speed and not the 8 as I think it has the same issue as the 8.
  4. Interesting since that is the same as mine and they say there is no service bulletins for the 6 speed and I think the law suit is just for the 8 speed. I am still talking with GM about mine and have an open case on it. So far, I have had a hard time getting them to try to put Mobil 1 in as that seems to help those who have the 8 speed.
  5. Was that the 8 speed or 6?
  6. Not from my point of view. I purchased the truck believing that it would run nice and smooth whether it be in 4 cylinder mode or 8.
  7. How do I remove via dipstick?
  8. Can the Lubgard Red be added without taking any fluid out? Do you think this could help with my situation?
  9. So once it warms up, you don't feel the clutch anymore? Would changing the fluid out to Mobil 1 make a difference in the 6 speed too?
  10. So, mine is still under warranty with only 7000 miles on it with a dealer telling me that is just the way it is basically. I have had lots of new vehicles and this is the first new truck I purchased for a retirement gift to me. I have never had issues like this one is having. To me, when you put it in drive, it should run down the road and not hiccup and hesitate for the first 10 minutes while it is warming up. They blame trying to get the most fuel economy out of them now days is the reason it does it. I just bought a new 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it doesn't seem to have those issues! Do you have any suggestions on what I should do or who I should contact?
  11. So, I am not sure my transmission is the one they are referring to in that tech paper and not sure, even if it is, that is the issue with mine as mine seems to have had the problem since day 1. I was told that mine was a 6 speed transmission and there was no service file bulletins related to them---only the 8 speed.
  12. so, start out in 4th or 5th in town and that will make things better? Don't think I should have to spend any money to make things better----it is a Chevy problem that I shouldn't have to be dealing with! The idea of the thermostat is interesting to me on the transmission. I doubt I could get Chevy to listen to that idea but I could see that as a potential issue since it runs fine once it gets warmed up. They won't acknowledge there is a problem with the 6 speeds only the 8!
  13. Do you think this would solve my issue? My 2017 with only 7000 miles on it now, is still doing what it has since day 1. The technician told me in May of this year that I should drive it harder and that it was something to do with it wanting to go or going into 4 cylinder mode. I notice the "vibration" or "hesitations" when I first start it up in the morning. I will notice it immediately as I start to accelerate and will notice it "bucking" or hesitating up to about 35 or so for the first 5 or 10 minutes and then it drives like a normal truck again. They told me in may that in 6 months I wouldn't notice it anymore (guess they were trying to brush me off). My thoughts are, if it actually had anything to do with the 4 cylinder mode then why don't I notice it after it warms up?? It is a 6 speed transmission and they tell me that Chev. has no service file bulletins on them and it is just for the 8 speed as far as changing out the transmission fluid to Mobil 1.
  14. Would you suggest starting out from a dead stop in 5th gear?

I would like them to change it out to see if that makes the difference but they seem unwilling to. Does anyone have an email address or contact for someone that might care at Chevy?
  16. Sooo, this is something that cost about 200.00 bucks to disable the 4 cylinder option? Not sure it is worth that to me when Chev. built it the way they built it. Seems like it should be their problem and not mine!
  17. If I were only that mechanically inclined!
  18. Now that is cool!! Have a feeling it is a little more than I want to spend on one though. Maybe my Lawnmower would work??
  19. Soo, you are saying I probably wouldn't like the smaller truck and that I should get a smaller vehicle to use to back boat into garage? I can do that with my Jeep Grand Cherokee without to much issue but wasn't really wanting to unhook the trailer and then hitch back up to another vehicle to accomplish that.
  20. Thanks! I was thinking it had a shorter wheel base but wasn't sure it was enough to make much difference. On the other hand, a little difference might make all the difference. I have no big issues when using my Grand Cherokee but think is wheel base is much narrower.
  21. Maybe it was a stupid question but was wondering if anyone had some experience with my issue. Thanks
  22. I have a very nicely equipped 2017 Chev. Silverado z71 Quad Cab. Only have 6500 miles on it and bought it as a kind of retirement gift for myself. I use it for various things but mostly to go fishin or huntin in and tow my 18 foot Basstracker. The issue I am having is backing my boat back into the garage with it. I live in town on an alley and it is very tight trying to get the proper angle backing into the garage, especially if the neighbor is parked on the other side of the alley. I am wondering how much I might be gaining in maneuverability by trading it in for a smaller truck? Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any help.
  23. Interesting but since it is under warranty--I have a feeling GM wouldn't like the idea and may say since it was changed they can't warranty it.
  24. What is the thermostat delete?
  25. I'll give it a try. Still wondering if I just put it in the position for trailer hauling would that take it out of the 4 cylinder mode.
