  1. I spoke to a Detroit Free Press reporter for a while about this today. GM is finally admitting their December brake update/recall is causing brake problems for owners. I believe she will have something out this week.
  2. Yeah, same thing happened to me after the recall. They couldn't fix it, ordered a new camera (backordered) and then a few weeks later it suddenly started working again.
  3. In this same thread I posted the email address of Jamie Lareau, an auto reporter with the Detroit Free Press. She is interested in talking to owners that have experienced exactly what you have. She is getting the run around from GM corporate, so the more first hand accounts she can quote the better.
  4. I've been speaking with an automotive reporter at the Detroit Free Press about these post-recall brake problems. She's talking with GM and is looking for other owners willing to talk on the record about these problems, GM's response/non-response, etc. Her name is Jamie Lareau and her email is [email protected] . She asked that I post her email in case any of you wish to speak with her.

  6. I've been talking to a Detroit Free Press reporter about this. She has been reviewing these threads as well.
  7. I just stumbled into this thread. Guys, I had the same issue for a while: intermittent blue screen/service rear camera message. Some days it would happen, some days it wouldn't. This past summer I opened up the tailgate to install the kicker audio for the multipro tailgate. In so doing, I discovered what looked like an A/V cable loosely connected to a port inside the tailgate. It had a lot of slop to the connection. I secured the connection with electrical tape and have not had one blue screen since. Maybe I'm telling you something you've already tried/tested, but if not it might be worth your time to drop the tailgate, get out some torx bits and check the connection inside the tailgate. I was following this chap's directions: Not sure if its the same access in the Silverados or not, but I gotta believe the interior electrical connections are the same.
  8. Same here. Over the last 24 hours I've used the app a ton just to test everything out as much as possible. No codes, no lights, working brakes. Cautiously optimistic.
  9. Just picked up the truck after the latest upgrade. They called me at home and had me start it from the app a couple of times, checked some readings, then do it again. They say the new upgrade seems not to be throwing any codes after using the app and all seems fine. I drove it around for 20 minutes or so after getting it back and had no issues. So, we'll see.....

  11. Three times for my truck. All since the recall on Dec. 30th.
  12. I just dropped my truck off for the PIT5728B bulletin. I'll report back later today how things turn out. They are going to sneak it in as I didn't have an appointment but they say it's a fairly short reprogramming procedure.

  14. My starter died as well when this happened to my truck. New engine is great; you'd never know it had an engine swap. The problem isn't the engine getting the truck going its the intermittent brakes stopping the thing....
  15. Be careful. I'll bet the brakes are spongy.
  16. Isn't it odd how all these dealers that never heard of this problem are running short on loaners??
  17. Don't forget oil cooler lines snapping off leading to engine seizure. Some of us hit Yahtzee...
  18. Said it would be cleaner/easier. It was their "executive level assistance" department, that they took over my claim from their customer service team.
  19. Just got a call from GM corporate. They went over the service history and will present a case for a buyback to the district manager. The offered a trade/swap for another Sierra but given all the issues here I have zero confidence I won't just get swapped into another truck with the same problems. On top of that, I also had the oil cooler line failure and engine replacement a few months back. There's no way I want any part of this truck post-warranty.
  20. I called GM tonight and opened up a request for a buyback.
  21. Got in the truck to come home from work and CEL on start up. Took it to the dealer and took home a loaner. Got a call that it has to do with the brake update again. This is beyond absurd.
  22. One of the questions I'd ask a lawyer. Basically, if you're like me, GM's recall has created intermittent braking and destroyed my collision mitigation system. Nice combination!
  23. To those saying they're interested in a class action; I'll make some calls over the next day or so. Depending on that goes I may start a thread or ask you to DM me with contact information.
  24. Would anyone be interested in talking to a class action attorney? If we've got about 100 (eyeballing that excel sheet) owners impacted here alone there has to be thousands nationwide.
