  1. Not yet, fingers crossed. My lane keep and associated features are still bricked, but the brakes have held up so far.
  2. If it's any consolation, this happened to my 6.2L Sierra. It took a while, about 3 weeks. But you'd never know it's had an engine replacement. And they extended the power train warranty for me as well. They also gave me a $750 credit for accessories. FYI
  3. I was given back my truck and told not to use the app.
  4. I also filed a NHTSA complain but, in addition, sent a detailed email to several automotive reporters with links to the various threads here discussing the brake and forward camera updates and how they - ironically - bring about the very issues the updates were meant to avoid. Will see if that generates any media coverage/scrutiny of GM.
  5. Dont do the recalls! Tell them you want to wait until they sort out the issues with those updates.
  6. Did you have regular braking feel or was the pedal dead/squishy.... go all the way to the floor for a coasting stop? Just curious if, should this happen again, I should try a few restarts before taking the thing back to the dealer. That ride with limited brakes was a white-knuckler.
  7. I have no technical expertise when it comes to these things so best I can do is parrot what he's saying.. ha!
  8. Heard from my contact in the GM truck engineering department. He says that starting tonight they are rolling out some sort of software patch to be delivered over the air to vehicles that took the brake update. Will see what that means.
  9. This happened to me today as well. Very unnerving, especially with your kids in the back seat.
  10. Same thing happened to me today. They said they needed to do a recall and now lane keep doesn't work.
  11. Made up a simple frame to hold sandbags over the axle when its icy and snowy. I know the front board is off-center.... it's so I can angle the thing in and out.
  12. Installed my winter tires and wheels on Sunday (Toyo Observe G3-Ice tires); going to fabricate some sort of setup to hold the sandbags over the rear axle Friday (I move sandbags in and out of the bed before and after large storms).
  13. $5,500 (before tip and not counting the tint work I had done). That was the original cost. This time the insurance company paid for it and got the price down to $2,500; that was a real eye opener. There are some differences... no paint correction work needed this time, and only part of the front clip needed new expel. But they did reapply the entire truck in Modesta ceramic coating.
  14. After getting the truck back from the body shop last week I got it back from the detail shop today (getting xpel wrap and modesta ceramic coating reapplied). I'll put up a pic in the daylight tomorrow.
  15. I had a new engine installed after an oil cooler line failed and the old engine siezed. That was at 6,000 miles. GM extended the warranty (continuing coverage letter, actually) on the entire powertrain. They also sent me a $750 voucher for accessories. The owner of a new truck shouldn't have to go through this and GM should make it right by extending the warranty.
  16. Installed the multipro Kicker audio system for the tailgate today:
  17. I'll take one tomorrow morning and post here. I was a little lazy with how I routed it. I used a trim tool to push the wire into the seam between trim pieces on the console and along the right of the driver's seat. Then under the floor mats back to the amp. Used 3M double sided tape to mount it.
  18. I did. Mounted dead center beneath the console and above the wireless charger area. Any chance you know the amperage of the in line fuse? I'm dying to test it out but cant yet. Lol.
  19. Installed the kicker sub, but.... they didn't include the required fuse. So I'm waiting until Monday until their customer service opens so I know what amperage fuse to use.
  20. Getting my Sierra back from the body shop this afternoon after 5 weeks. Two accidents in two consecutive days; first I was sideswiped at a light then the next evening someone backs into the front end of it at a restaurant and runs. So, a new passenger bedside, two new doors and a new cab corner sectioned in (the cab corner behind the rear passenger door was badly crumpled and had to be replaced. On the front end my xpel saved me from all but minor scratching so aside from repainting, new expel, new license plate bracket and ceramic coating there wasn't much that had to be done there. While its been away I picked up the kicker bass for the back seat and the kicker bluetooth tailgate system. So I'll have a nice weekend of mods ahead of me (unless the weather turns for the better and I can hit the golf course...).
  21. Dropped it off at a body shop. Rough two days, back to back: first someone tries to pass me on the right at a stop light and scrapes/dents the entire passenger side. Then, the next night, a hit and run driver at a restaurant valet stand backs into the front end; tearing off the license plate mount, scuffing up a parking sensor and - thankfully - scuffing up the xpel wrap but not the paint underneath. Now my truck will be in the shop for 2-3 weeks. Requires two new doors and pretty extensive body work to the cab and bed. Ugh.
  22. Yup... partly why it took so long to get them to agree to a CCL: I was negotiating over what items would and wouldn't be covered.
  23. Hopefully its not the engine. The dealership that repaired my Sierra had seen this in a Silverado prior (they're a Chevy dealer). They said in that case the engine was undamaged but the failure to start was due to the oil pump burning out. Hopefully that's all it is and you're not looking at engine replacement as well.
  24. Have any of the Sierra owners done their own install of the kicker tailgate audio system? I've done lots of wiring projects to prior trucks (added 12-volt power to bed of my Canyon, installed towing mirrors with turn signal lights on my Canyon, etc). Wondering if its plug-n-play or if I need to add an accessory fuse block, run wires, drill, etc. Thanks.
