DON'T SHIFT THE TRANSFER CASE UNLESS THE TRUCK IS ON!!!! I put the truck in 4wd and didn't switch it out before turning off the ignition. I shut the truck off and then I turned the knob to 2hi. The next time I started the truck it displayed a message to service 4wd and it wouldn't come out of 4hi. I had to disconnect the battery, wait 5 minutes and while waiting I pulled the fuse for the TCM (Transfer Case module). I didn't put the fuse back in until after reconnecting the battery and turning the key forward. After putting the fuse back in (with the key on) the truck shifted out of 4 wheel. Hope this helps...
