  1. Has anyone found aftermarket tailgate lights for the 2024 Multipro tailgate. I ordered some from Amazon, but the plugs have a tab inside that is offset to one side, my truck plug has the tab centered in the plug. I had the lights from Amazon on my 2020 Sierra and liked them. I hate to spend $115 to $150 for OEM, that look the same as what I spent $50 for.
  2. I'm not finding much recently on this subject so thought I would bring it up. One of the features the sales rep at the dealership showed us is, asking Google Assistant to do tasks for you while driving. If I ask Google to play a specific song it says, "You must have Pandora to do this, but here's a local radio station for you to listen too" and changes the radio setting. If I look in the Apps section of the settings menu, Pandora is not in the list. I chatted with someone on the GMC website, they said it shows Pandora is only listed as a option on radios with the code Info 3 and NGI, but my truck shows it has radio code IOK so it is not listed. What is up with that, and is there a fix planned to correct it? Not a huge issue, but if I'm paying for the data plan so assistant can do functions, I would like it to work.

  4. That's interesting info on the actuators. I gather from the dealer, that the signal is reaching each wheel, but there must be a module that sends the voltage to the actuators and that is what they are indicating is bad. He did write down for me that it is a Brake System Control Module Part number 86788483, but so far when I looked it shows Electric Brake Booster Control Module, or takes me to trailer brake control modules. Price is much more reasonable, but I would need more info about if this is the correct part and what is involved in changing it out before I would attempt it myself.
  5. It's Tim, I think you misunderstood my post, I am not driving around with "suspect brakes", and I'm not getting a "third world brake job". The park brake isn't working! Nowhere did I say I was having issues with my entire brake system and I take offense at you insinuating this. I am simply asking if anyone had had similar problems with the PARK BRAKE or if the Brake System Control Module only controls the Electric Park Brake system or if it also controls the other brake functions. If it is only for the park brake system, and I can find a replacement module more reasonable than the dealers cost (I'm not against OEM parts, have purchased many in the past, and will do so if necessary). If it is a pull and plug in new module and others have not had issues doing it, I would be willing to try it myself. If it is more complex, I know my limits and might not try it myself. Only looking for feedback on others experience, not a snatchy reply on how safe you think my driving habits are.
  6. Thanks for the input, that's something to think about.
  7. So, a follow up on this. Continued to have issues with the Service Park Brake screen showing up and having squealing noise coming from the rear of the truck. Was back at the dealer this week and had them check again. They said they tested all the wiring to each wheel and the brakes are ok, it has to be the Brake System Control module. Has anyone else had this affect the park brake? This is a $560 part at the dealer plus labor to install. Wondering if I can get a aftermarket one or even a cheaper OEM replacement and install it myself, but can't find much information about where it is located or how hard it is to install. Any info appreciated.
  8. For what it is worth, when I bought my 2018 Sierra, the owner told me he had the transfer case replaced under warranty, the dealer told him it was likely because he left it in Auto all the time, but seldom drove on anything but dry pavement. If I suspect there is any reason I am going to need it, I put it in Auto, if not I leave it on 2WD. Don't know if it saves gas or not, but every little bit helps.
  9. For reasons unknown to me, the 20 inch wheels on my 2020 Sierra SLT were changed by the previous owner to 18 inch wheels. Factory tires were 275/60R20 and I am now running 265/65R18 tires. If I am comparing correctly, the differance of 2 inches in diameter is making the speedometer show around 3 MPH more than the actual speed, and I am guessing I am putting on more miles than actually driven. Using a tire size calculator, it looks like 285/65R18 tires would drop this difference to about 3/4 MPH more than actual and width would increase about 1/2 an inch. 295/65R18 tires would make the actual speed about 1/4 MPH more than the speedometer shows, but width would increase just over 3/4 of an inch. Short of buying 20 inch wheels and tires, which is not in the budget, has anyone tried increasing the size of their existing tires, are there any disadvantages to the wider sidewall height and the wider width causing any clearance issues? I would probably prefer to go with the 285/65R18, as there appears to be more choices to pick from but the 295/65R18 get me closest to the correct speedometer reading. My existing 18 inch tires have less than 10,000 miles on them, so might get some trade in value. My other choice is to leave them as is, and just know I can drive faster than speedometer shows, but don't like adding miles I'm not driving. Any suggestions.
  10. I am surprised neither dealer or tire shop could get their tester to communicate, unless they were trying to look for 433MHZ and the wheels have 315. In any case, I will probably end up paying the tire shop to put in theirs if it's in the $280 range installed as they will at least be responsible if something doesn't work.
  11. Build sheet shows the truck should have had 20" wheels but had 18' wheels, couldn't find out why. My thought also, that maybe it wasn't the correct frequency, I don't quite know how the reading tools work, I would think they could determine what frequency they are, can't imagine 4 sensors would go bad. The dealer is saying once a sensor is programmed it can't be reprogrammed for a different vehicle, not sure if that is correct or not.
  12. I have been reading TPMS posts for the last hour, and still not exactly seeing answers to my situation. Just purchased a used 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT which the build sheet showed came with 20" wheels, but had 18" wheels on it. This was a sales rep vehicle so can't really get answers why the wheels were switched. The problem is when I bought it, the TPMS Service screen was on and no tire readings available. I had the local tire store switch my Trail Terrain tires to the new truck, they said none of the sensors were communicating with their reader. Took the truck in today to the dealer for an oil change, they had the same issue. Pulled off one tire, and said there were aftermarket sensors installed and they will not work with the 2020 system? New sensors are $75 each and with installation was going to be around $600. I stopped back at the tire shop, they carry a aftermarket sensors on hand, and don't feel like there is any reason they shouldn't work. Cost is $49.95 each, installed $280ish. Once a sensor is programmed, can it not be changed to work with another vehicle? No way I'm spending $600, is the $49.95 price pretty typical? Is there any reason the newer trucks have to have GM parts to work with the truck TPMS system? (As the dealer says) Looking for any info and suggestions.
  13. Took the truck in for a oil change today and have the park brake light checked out, which of course wasn't doing it at the time. Luckily as the service manager got in to move it, it started making the humming noise and the service brake screen came on. Turns out, the noise in the rear was the brake system. Apparently someone had put new rear brakes on, there is a sensor to indicate when the brake shoes are worn, whoever did it didn't put the sensor back in and just left the wire hang. It was somehow keeping the park brake from working. Now if I could get the TPMS sensors working.........
  14. That is so strange. Then yesterday the Service Park Brake light and message came on. Tried cycling the button several times and stayed on, but 15 minutes later went back off. I'm not sure what to worry about and what to just disregard.
