I've brought my Sierra in twice now for the update. The second time I gave the dealer a printed copy of the notice. However, both times after picking up, the radio is still v807. I've given up on the dealer (North County Gmc in Escondido, CA)
Is there any dealer within a 120 miles of San Diego that can perform this update properly?
Dealer installed as it was on the sticker along with performance exhaust and performance brakes. I always wondered if the ECU was updated by the selling dealer.
I highly recommend this gets done. 2 years ago I asked my service advisor why I heard some light pinging noise during light load at highway speeds. He said it was normal. After the recall was completed, I no longer hear this noise! I am guessing the truck was running too lean under load and has minor detonation. This was annoying enough for me to almost always apply more throttle to force a downshift at highway speeds when I just wanted to slowly increase my speed. Since getting the update a few days ago, I can lightly apply the throttle and I hear none of the pinging noises which used to bother me.
After I traded in my 2017 Sierra LT for a 2019 Sierra Denali, I needed a new cover and got this instead:

This leaks very little from my experience over last 6 months. The GMC cover that came with my 2017 Sierra definitely leaked more during drive through car wash. You might just need to tighten the clamps.
