Working on a '17 Silverado WT. After a lot of research, I think I have the steps down to upgrade my io3 radio to an iob and add a backup camera. Just need to get confirmation from someone knowledgeable or who has done this before that this is the right process:
I used my VIN to determine what part numbers I needed for each specific part and ensure compatibility. I used GMpartsdirect for this. I found the following part numbers:
IOB Radio Module w/o satellite (i didn't want XM): 42481571
7" Display Unit IOB (screen): 42430301
New control switch for IOB radio: 4251664
New mount bracket for IOB Radio: 2334594
New trim bezel for IOB radio: 23472965
Reverse Camera & wire (my truck is prewired): 84062896
Tailgate handle: 84203904 (replaces part # 84042894)
I searched for all these parts used on ebay. Mix of new and used. Total cost of parts is $300. I have the donor VINs from all used parts
Local dealer will flash for $132
Only thing I am missing is a new radio wiring harness that will connect the IOB radio to what I have. I don't know if there is a GM part number for this or if it's something I have to get special made from someone like GM Navigation.
Total cost looks like $532 + whatever the wiring harness costs
Do these steps look right? Am I missing anything?
