  1. Had a 6sp in a 2013 5.3, now have a 8sp in a 2020 5.3. No comparison, go with 8sp, faster acceleration.
  2. The new 5.3 are stronger than just a few years ago, much more than the hp rating. I had a 2013 5.3 6sp 315 hp. Currently have a 2020 5.3 w/8 spd and the power difference feels more like a 75-80hp gain vs the 30hp on paper. Perhaps its the transmission.
  3. My advice by a Range and deactivate it.
  4. Mine does same. On average once every couple weeks and always when engine not fully warm and the first stop, wont do it again after. I just leave it in. Called range and they mentioned it may happen every now and then but is still deactivating the DFM.
  5. With a engine replacement or rebuild on the original engine at 2 months in, I would request meeting with someone high enough up at the dealership demanding a good trade in option. If they swap the engine its going to hurt the value even more. Your only option is to keep it w/replaced, rebuilt engine from the start or deal with the original dealership at a better deal on a new truck, another dealership wont touch it. I had it happen to me on a 2009 silverado, it drank oil from the start and by 43,000 and 15+ service vists engine had a bottom end done at dealership under warranty. For me I wasn't going to make payments on a truck with rebuilt engine. I approached the #2 at the dealership and hashed out a good trade in value no other dealership would have given.
  6. Nearly everyone that runs one does so to avoid oil consumption issues that will lead to piston replacement and/or lifter failure in the future. Jury still out on the 19-20 models I would say but anyone that went through it with the 2007+ models runs AFM/DFM delete.
  7. Just purchased a 2020 Silverado with the 5.3 L84. Salesman said use 87 octane but looking more into engine specs I was surprised to see it has 11.1 compression. I’ve always been told 11.1 is highest compression you can have in a sbc and run 93 octane pump gas. Gen. 6 sbc different? How?
