A new OEM steering wheel is surprisingly cheap on rock auto. Depending on trim between $100-200. My 2020 was starting to wear off as well at 100k but I ended up trading it in before swapping wheel. The refresh trucks use a different leather than the earlier trucks.

I don’t think it was the wrong part exactly. It was just the wrong part because it probably still didn’t fix whatever issue they caused.

If the dealer is such an ass, straight up tell GM you feel the dealers service dept broke your truck with improperly diagnosing it originally. Nobody else had a truck that undriveable from the update. Gm will reimburse your rental and probably offer a buyback if you keep saying you want a reliable resolution and have lost faith in the repairs done. When I lived in VA, and the dealers sucked, I’ve been offered a buyback over a clicking in my steering (2018 z71) saying I’m not confident in the ability and repairs of the dealers in my area. I was able to fix it with a bunch of red grease in the steering shaft knuckle. It was a custom order truck and I honestly just wanted it fixed. pretty much, don’t ask for a buyback just tell them you don’t feel safe or confident in the repairs. I bet you’ll at least get a Silverado loaner.

Yeah, you can see the right side hinge isn’t 90 degrees and your tailgate top on the right sits about a 1/4 inch lower than the bed rail. It definitely got hit in my opinion.

You hinge is bent. Someone probably backed into something with tailgate down. Probably thought it barely touched and didn’t tell anyone. That’s exactly how mine looked on my last truck when someone hit that side of my tailgate while it was down. It’s not just the hinge on the outside, there’s a PITA to get to spring on the inside of that fender as well. If it’s not 100% perfect, you will wear out the slow close bushing super quick over and over. Probably also need a new tailgate. I was never able to get it perfect on my previous truck.

Also do you guys have the Z71 transfer case or regular 4wd without 4lo? I have the z71

Mine was having shifting weirdness until I got the update. Everyone affected seems to have very low miles. Could be bad programming to begin with.

No I do not unfortunately. I didn’t get any paperwork. They were able to find it pretty quick. The dealer who fixed it is Bob Steele Chevy in cocoa Florida. The title of the bulletin did say it was for customers with failed update.

Dealer found an SI bulletin for the failed update. Fix is listed as reprogram transfer case module. Dealer had me in and out in under an hour. Everything seems good on my drive home.

Yesterday afternoon I received an OnStar email with exactly the same codes as you including ABS. I have an appointment to the dealer later today. I will ask them to just clear codes without attempting to redo the update since the truck is having no other issues. I will update here once I’m done with the dealer.

Out of warranty, this could possibly total a truck based on repair cost, however if it makes it to 100k, I doubt you would still be having new problems.

My rear seat reminder also keeps turning back on as well. I figured it was from disconnecting the battery in attempt to clear the codes. it does sound like the tech shorted out something with your truck. im a licensed master electrician in 2 states and seeing the splices GM expects the techs to make are ridiculous. I wouldn’t even attempt them and just run a new harness. There’s no decent access or slack in any of the wiring. it honestly think it’s just a software glitch that ended up getting out of hand in your case.

I got the notification that the update failed, but cannot try to do it again. It did fix the weird shifts my transmission had. I also have no ABS errors. Only emergency braking disabled and service 4wd. It was not at my house when the update came up and did it on its own WiFi. I was near the truck, but did not watch the update. I heard parking brake engage while outside of it. Honestly if they can just clear the service 4wd everything else is working great. This is my first Silverado made in USA (Indiana) and the build quality is atrocious compared my last 3 Mexico made silverados including a 2020. Half the welds on the exhaust look like they’re ready to split. Paint quality is worse, etc. Nothing major but I can definitely notice a difference.

Yes mine is a 2023 LT Crew Cab Std Bed z71 with 3.0 diesel. I got it 1 week ago brand new. First day I got it, it did an update. Then this new update came up same day as you. My update also claimed to update adaptive cruise. I also do not have adaptive cruise control. I’ve had no issues with driving it for now. The parking brake now disengages on its own when shifting to drive or reverse.
