End of last summer I noticed we were no longer getting a/c out of the vents. Sent it to what I thought was a reputable shop for diagnosis as I was too busy and impatient. They tried a recharge, changed h-block and evap temperature sensor. Still no cold air out of vents. Waste of money...
Not knowing much about the system I did some research of my own and got my hands on a capable scanner tool and manifold gauges. Did some comparing with other similar working trucks and found that gas pressures were similar and evap temperatures were similar (within 1 degree c).
I then started thinking blend door issue. I changed out the motor and while I was in there felt how the door moved. No binding and it seemed to move fully in both direction. After replacing the motor and performing the relearn, the cross counts were still similar and the amount the gear/lever turned still was similar to what I witnessed with a working unit. I even gerry rigged it so I could turn the door manually and it didn't make a change.
I also confirmed the temperature sensor is accurate by drilling a hole above the sensor and sticking a thermometer in the hole. I used the same hole to put a borescope in to see if I could "see" any obstruction or hole in the case. I didn't notice anything.
I've cleaned the evaporator, changed the filter and all the mode positions work and it does go from hot to around 16 degrees Celsius out of the vents.
So at this point I think the box has to come out. Have I missed anything simpler?
Thanks for the help.
