  1. I bought a brand new 2021 Silverado 5.3L with D.F.M around 05/2021 and in January of 2022 I started hearing more and more about the lifter issues the 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L were getting. So I looked around on the web and saw there is a class action lawsuit with GM about this. The lawsuit said that GM will upgrade the lifters before selling the new 2021 models on their lots. So I called the dealership I got mine from to ask weather mine was done. They said they will look into it and call me back. The salesman called me back the next morning and told me they entered my vin # into their database and said mine does not show that any work was done or that any work needs to be done. I asked if I must just drive it till something goes wrong and they basically said unless there is a recall there is nothing they can do. There are 2 popular methods out there for disabling the A.F.M and D.F.M but I don't know if I want to mess with that. Your experience and thoughts are appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the information. However I will pass on the Purolator and the Fram. I have heard that using other filters can lead to GM voiding your warranty should something go wrong and you take it in.
  3. My brand new 2021 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L engine came with the incorrect oil filter on. I did my first oil change after 1000 miles break in period, I always do this on my new vehicles and never been sorry. However it had on it an ACDelco PF63 oil filter, after some research I found that the newer engines have higher oil pressure and that the emergency bypass valve in the PF63 opens at 12 psi so it opens too soon causing the oil not to get filtered. I was then told to use the ACDelco PF63E which has an emergency bypass pressure of 22 psi. So I used that. When I went to purchase a new oil filter for my next oil change I was told to use the ACDelco UPF63R because it has a bypass pressure of 36psi. So my question to any GM experts out there is the PF63E the right one or should I switch to the new UPF63R ? With all these lifter issues going on I don't want unfiltered oil running through them.
  4. Mine had the issue with not downshifting and shuddering till you stomped on the gas forcing it to down shift. Especially when slowing down and going around a corner and gently giving it gas it did not automatically down shift. I took it to the dealer and they switched the transmission oil to Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP and I have now put on 6K miles since then with no issue.
  5. I changed to Synthetic blend oil and it cured the problem. Seems like the very thing penetrating full synthetic drains out of the oil filter when standing.
