144k miles. That makes sense on the new fuel That makes sense on the fuel pump killing the new cat. How long have the Magnaflow been on your truck with no codes?

Thanks for your help in advance! I've seen some other threads on this, but nothing that covers what cats I can use to replace the bad ones. I bought a 14' Chev with the 5.3 just a couple months ago. Several problems since then. I just took it to a mechanic because it had a check engine light on and wouldn't pass emissions. They said it's a bad fuel pump and would need to be replaced with a high pressure. So we did that for $1,000 but the two codes came up again the next day. P0430, P0420. I know one of the cats was already replaced and I was told it's a good quality one. I was told by the same shop that did the fuel pump that only OEM cats will work/not throw the codes. Are there aftermarket cats that will work so I don't have to drop another $2,000 for OEM cats? Logan

Hi guys! One more for you. I'm Logan. I have a 2014 Chev Silverado 1500 Z71 the check engine light came on a couple weeks back P0420. I took it to an exhaust shop that I trust and they told me both cats would need to be replaced. They said my truck has new cats on it, that aren't cheap one's, but unless it's factory it will throw the code. There experience has been that the only cats that won't throw a code are the OEM one's. They would have rather sold me an aftermarket exhaust which I would have been happy to pay for. Are there aftermarket cats that I can buy so I don't have to pay $1200 from the dealer? I did find one used set for $600 on craigslist. Thanks!

@BlaineBug Is that one of the grounds that comes from the battery cable itself? If so I put a wrench on that one as well. ?

Hello, I'm Logan. I have a 2014 Chev Silverado 1500 Z71. I was driving it the other day and I had complete power failure, dash lights out, engine turned off, hazards didn't work. I pushed it out of the road and sat there for maybe 5 mins thinking of what to do. Then my interior lights came back on and it started right up. It did this two more times within two days. And every time it seems that if I leave the truck for 5 mins and then come back it will start right up with no issues. The only check engine light that's been on for a couple weeks is for the catalytic converter. I tore apart the dash to fix the P218 ground issue, but there's no ground in that location on my truck. Anyone have the same issue? I put a wrench on the battery connections and the ground on the fender. Any thoughts on what I should look at next? I called three Chev dealers here in UT and none of them had any idea what the problem would be. Thanks!

Hi, I have a 2014 Chev Silverado Z71. I'm having similar issues. I'll have complete power failure/engine shut down intermittently, once while I was driving. I took apart the dash to fix the ground. But my truck does not have a ground in that location. Also, it seems all I have to do it wait 5 mins and everything works like normal again. Does anyone else not have the ground in that location or know what else I should look at to fix it? Thanks!
