  1. making a few additions to the thread. Shipping the truck from OKC to Amarillo was more than I expected, but there is a work-around. AAA Premier Membership! 200 mile one way free tow! So I had to cover the final 50 miles to get the truck to Precision Final bill to have it towed to their shop.... just under $250 After delivery confirmed from AAA driver, I called the shop and paid the deposit. This was to remove and inspect transmission. Was called on a Wednesday afternoon that the truck was ready. All excited, I let the woman know I would make arrangements that coming Saturday, or the next to pay and collect. Shortly after, the video of the tear down was made available on youtube. I tried calling their shop multiple times on Thursday and Friday but was never able to speak to them. no answer each time. Saturday morning!!! The alarm goes off. I decided to ride my motorcycle and brave the cold. 34 degrees at 6:20am when leaving the house. Google says 3.5 hour drive time to get to the shop. I made it just over 1 hour before my face began to freeze. With the stops for fuel, and a couple to regain feeling in my face and toes, I pulled up to the shop in Amarillo. It's now 11:48am PANIC! The shop is closed, the gates are locked, and I'm 30 ft away from my truck. Made a few calls and a post on facebook... less than 20 minutes later Richard calls me! He arrives and we end of talking for a while and he shows me the "dirty bird" and I pay the remainder, along when getting the info on a pan drop/ transmission fluid change at 3K miles. Drive the truck back home, and pull into the driveway just after 6pm. Long day and took a bit to warm up, but have driven the truck some and happy that it feels like it should. Big thanks to Precision for taking on the problem. Hope to have at least another 100k miles without problem!
  2. Picked up the truck today! HAPPY!
  3. talked with Precision Transmission in Amarillo today. arranging shipping and will be sending the truck to them.
  4. quote to tow the truck from Oklahoma City to Amarillo Texas.... $1,600 i've had cars shipped 1/2 across the country for less!
  5. Warmed up enough for me to check the dipstick and make a quick video popped the hood and checked the transmission fluid first. results are the attached image. after checking, started the truck but didnt have my phone to record video. sounded bad for the first 1.5 seconds when i first started the truck. When shifting from P or N to R or D it sounds similar to the stress of a power steering pump at max turn for the first second. *happens later in the video when i shift a few times* https://photos.app.goo.gl/4pAFEWfw2VTajshH6 The attached image if the dipstick from the transmission BLUE = first pulling the dipstick after truck was left for almost 1 week. This was after the 100+ mile drive GREEN = Second pull of the dip stick No noticeable metallic, even when looking at the dipstick after pulling. I'm guessing the Precision transmission you mentioned above is the one from Amarillo, Tx. Tried calling a few times today, Saturday morning, but havent been able to get them on the phone. Would be a bit of a trip from Oklahoma City. So here are my concerns. - If I have a local GM dealer or transmission shop swap it out for a replacement transmission, I'm looking at 100,000 hopeful carefree miles. most are 3 year warranty on a replacement transmission. *some 6 year warranty - If I swap it out, going to have to have several uninterrupted hours to do the work. *i'm more likely to win the lotto - have a local shop rebuild, and loads of risk, as likely no warranty. My use and intentions with the truck include - sit most of the time. i have my commuter fart - around 10,000 miles per year *used for weekend trips / hauling things - dependable - responds and drives like OEM. dont want a stall that is some high RPM. Local GM dealer has trucks with the same transmission issue waiting for replacement. service writer has stated +80% that install a new torque converter and flush the system, after having an issue, are back soon with more problems. Recommends to replace transmission. starting to question replacing the parts and hope that no other issues arise.
  6. 2500 torque converter added to parts list still looking to update the regulator parts. *list will be updated later O ring added to parts list, but not sure i have the correct part number unknown yet. havent checked the dip stick. havent pulled transmission. 2WD
  7. Warranty time expired in November. Still good on mileage, but either doesnt matter due to the 5 years being over. 2016 Sierra 2wd "Shudder" started on the trip home from the last drive. Going to document a few things and list parts replaced, part numbers and photos. Will do the work myself at home. Torque Converter Part Number : GM (17804388) O-Ring for Torque Converter Snout Part Number: SO-23-28, GM-O-9V ???? not sure if correct part number Transmission Filter Part Number : GM (24274402) Transmission Pan Gasket Par Number : GM (24260071) Amsoil ATF Part Number : ATLQT-EA *approx. 10 quarts Transmission Thermostat Kit Part Number : STP-STL010 gasket for the transmission oil cooler braket ? *looking into this part now Part Number : Exhaust gaskets *3 bolt from header to mid pipe X2 Part Number : Transmission rear seal *for driveshaft Part Number : That covers the parts list of items that I know will be required. Updates to the list will happen if I find other MUST DO changes or replacements. Since the problem started yesterday, driving home for the final 100 miles of the trip, I've parked the truck, and sprayed down bolts with PB Blaster. Snow called for this week, so it's time to decide part sources, and get things ordered. Updates to come later!
  8. cables delivered yesterday! identified the parts from page one of this thread. 19303285 19119050 I drove a couple of times with the console in, and have a few changes. 1. I have a bit of left over "dynamat" material and will be adding some to the inside *below* the center console. will take photos. warm sunday should work!
  9. Hello Frankie, Was watching the video while removing the seat and putting the console in place. I had purchased a console over the summer and finally ordered the harness a few weeks back, all after viewing the thread and video last spring. my mind had skipped over the need for the additional cable order to bring everything active. identified the parts from page one of this thread. 19303285 19119050 both are needed for what i have. ordered with gmpartdirect and plan on getting to them this week. TY
  10. can someone offer suggestions? I purchased the harness and installed what I have. Truck is a 2016 Sierra. Console in a 2016 or newer. *has usb IN and usb OUT above the power connection when connecting things. from the image on page 1, i need to know what USB Cables I need. 19303285 19119050 19303284 I want all the USB Connections to work. Hoping i only need to take things apart 1 more time. TIA
  11. I had manually set the time and then clicked for it to sync over cell network. No option for time zone. I had turned the truck back on and connected the phone again and it's once again working. Thank you all for your help! The following includes what steps were required for mine to connect and work again1. Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes 2. Remove the connection to my phone 3. Connect via Bluetooth 4. Set time and date, then select to sync automatically 5. Wait 10 minutes while the redio plays and the Bluetooth is on. 6. Turn truck off and on again. 7 connected successfully via USB and android auto Wheeeewww
  12. Not sure. Truck purchased used a few months ago. Will look for a sticker atop the battery in a bit. Might just disconnect it and leave it overnight.
  13. I am disconnected the battery and left it disconnected for 30 minutes before trying this again. And result is the same I'm still not able to connect my phone to Android auto and the truck and getting a error screenshot included. I've tried three different cables.
  14. I'm 12 hours from home with the family on vacation. 2016 Sierra SLE and up until this trip everything has worked correctly with connection to my phone. Now I get a "Communication error 8" when I try plugging my phone in after a brief disconnect of the battery. Bluetooth showed as available for just a moment and now I can't get it to connect. I checked with the GMC dealership where I'm at and their response was to buy a new stereo or a new truck. How can I reset or get the radio to work with my phone again?
  15. mike and many of the people at autogeek are great to work with. general use, find what you like and what you are willing to spend. the differences side by side from one product to the next, beyond a pro ceramic coating, will be close. so with that info, personal preferences... iron-x menzerna micro polish Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845
  16. did a part of that this morning. - brake recall fix - balance and rotate - request mylink update after tax, $65 for the balance and rotate, which is about what i was expecting.
  17. 2016 purchased used. I have android auto, but thinking there are more updates that are needed on the system, since it doesnt have a button available in the setting to "update now". I was under the impression there was a cd that had the updates and some magic button pressing that allowed the system to access the cd to complete the update. i had searched other portions of the forum to find people have approached dealers with the request to have they "MyLink" updated and have not been charged. looking to save some $ and get the system updated.
  18. Just quoted $217 to update the MyLink forward in my 2016 Sierra SLE anyone know where I can order a disc and do it myself? tia
  19. well that was a long read... purchased a 2016 sierra and noticed the vibration. plans are to have the tires rotated and balanced this weekend. thinking outside the box on this one, have any of you seen "hop shocks"? this was a design used on the 2wd chevy S-10 from 1998 to their end of production in 2003 or so, to prevent wheel hop. seems like the design would be the same for use here. has anyone tried replacing the rubber bushings in the rear leaf springs with a polyurethane option? just a couple of ideas. Update! Tire balance and rotate took care of the vibration I was having
  20. yes. setting in the options for audio. just a simple on or off. NOTE: I keep the audio on for the following.... not every pixel is as clear as what you see from the drivers seat. it's always a safe bet to say the license plate number on any car you have just been in an accident with! Wife had a hit-and-run and she had the license plate in a clear portion of the video from a few miles before the accident, but we are thankful there was also the audio of her saying the plate number. otherwise, dont be shy to belt out your best "baby baby baby...."
  21. made a thread with some more info on the dash camera setup
  22. To start, there are more dash camera options available today then there are automotive manufactures. everyone has their own flavor and key requirements for what they need. I've had a couple people ask questions about what setup I'm using, how dependable it is in Oklahoma heat, what the cost totals, and what the maintenance totals. I have the same camera in each of my vehicles. The following list will help for some. AUKEY dash camera front and rear... and use the same model in all my cars. link to it on amazon $130 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075S7W6FR/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_9?smid=A1GB2I3NQT9NQC&psc=1 I have the cable under the headliner and down the A pillar on the passengers side, before feeding the cable behind the bottom edge of the dash and routing the cable to the glovebox USB. I would recommend getting a 90 degree connector, as the cable that comes with the camera will get a little "kinked" when closing the glove box otherwise. link to the 90 deg cable connection $7 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084WPG7QG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Front camera WILL need a filter. The viofo clips onto the AUKEY perfectly! link to the filter on amazon $15 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0KVD4C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Standard memory cards will last one summer parked outside. "High Endurance" cards will get a couple of years. link to the card on amazon $22 https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Endurance-microSDXC-Adapter-Monitoring/dp/B07NY23WBG/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/140-3681450-1512527?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07NY23WBG&pd_rd_r=93c2560a-c581-4313-9e83-56afe89b7352&pd_rd_w=u067F&pd_rd_wg=1uIsf&pf_rd_p=f325d01c-4658-4593-be83-3e12ca663f0e&pf_rd_r=NX8GAGXT7P71EWQHXYJR&psc=1&refRID=NX8GAGXT7P71EWQHXYJR TOTAL $175 *add in some tax and it's close to 200 The attached images show the cameras, front and rear, installed in my sierra. Out of sight, out of mind! The camera will make a chirp and whoosh sound when it boots. Link to videos from the camera. Front camera Rear camera in the last 3 years these cameras have saved 10 times what ive paid for them in different events that have happened. *"they rear ended me officer!" and then i share the footage that shows they backed into me* good investment

  24. dash camera. cable above the headliner, down the A pillar, and behind the dash. plugs into the outlet there and works great. out of sight, out of mind.
