  1. So if you had endless funds and bought a new Silverado 1500 with the 6.2 and had a shop remove the DOD lifters with the locking pins and replace them with normal lifters and a cam without the special oiler lobe, would the engine perform normally and last like they used to?
  2. Thinking about buying one but cautious and trying to do the homework.
  3. 25 more success replies and I might trust driving it out of town again.
  4. Has anyone that had the PIP5823B ECM fix ever had the long crank no start again?
  5. A lot of us 3.0 Duramax diesel owners between 2020 and 2022 have issues occasionally where the starter will turn over for 8-10 secs but won't start. Sometimes it happens once a week or could be several months between issues. Sometimes it starts on 2nd or 3rd try or sometimes could be an hour. Some have had to have it towed. Just wondering if this issue has ever happened to any of you gas truck owners? The video shows a check eng light, but 90% of the time it doesn't and never throws a code. IMG_1669.MOV

  7. Bugs me GM didn't send out any communication about the fix. Or....what fix? Long crank and no start issues? Whaaaat?
  8. I've been pressing the start button without foot on the brake and waiting 5 secs and then starting the truck. I haven't had a long crank no start since Aug. I'll try to get the ECM flash, but I could live with this method.
  9. Made appt by phone at dealership to get 1st oil/filter change and discussed the long crank/no start issue and gave her PIP5823b. Arrived at dealer and reminded her of the long crank/no start issue with a great audible description. They called 4 hrs later stating truck was ready. She indicated that the tech said PIP5823b did not apply and he could not recreate the problem. Got in truck and read the ticket. "Customer states vehicle intermittently shuts off. Technician found no trouble." Bouncing somewhere between laugh and cry.
  10. Painful when I think about all the work I put into it that I'd have to repeat and probably never get the money out of it. Roll-N-Lock Line-X Luverne running boards Tint Wheel well liners Advanced wheel locks Smartliner mats Anybody close to end of factory warranty and get any kind of extension or agreement for this problem?
  11. Back from my 12 day trip and 2400 total miles. I used the delay start by pushing the button without foot on the brake and waiting a few seconds before starting. No long cranks/no starts on the trip. We'll see going forward. It would be fitting that a cheap a$$ chip from China is the problem. First thing I do when ordering something online is check where it was manufactured. If from Coronaville, he11 no.
  12. I did that and although chk eng lite was on, it did not throw a code.
  13. Watched football for about 30 mins and went out to try it again. Started right up on try #6. Gremlin.
  14. Having the issue now. 5 no starts in the last 30 mins. Never failed to start before, but not looking good. Chk eng lite on, but last time that happened it didn't produce a code Did something odd that hadn't happened before. After the 2nd no start I waited a couple mins and tried the fob remote start. Wouldn't do anything and tried it twice. No lights flash, nothing. After a couple mins remote start did the no start. Leaving for 650 mile trip Wed and not feeling so confident.
  15. I'd be willing to try that, but would likely forget about as much as I do turning off the "auto off/on" button.
  16. Has anyone ever had the truck fail to eventually start after one or several of the long crank/no start issues? In other words it never started and you had to have it towed?
  17. I doubt the regen theory. First time mine happened was first week of ownership with 45 mi. I doubt it had done a regen cycle that early with very short commutes. In fact, my DEF gauge never moved off full until just over 2000 mi. But, this is my first diesel with DEF technology, so I know little about it.
  18. 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Autostop Eliminator No experience with this product, but it is one of several ways to disable the auto stop/start feature. $99
  19. So weird that I had 2004 Colorado that was key start but would do a similar long crank no start. Never failed to start within 15 mins. Was a great home depot beater with 160k mi when I sold it a few yrs ago. GM never had a fix for it. Hope that brightens your day.
  20. That one sounds promising. The bent trigger wheel fix sounds hokey. If it happens to hundreds of trucks with less than 1K miles and the fix part is not re-engineered, why wouldn't it just happen again in a couple hundred miles?
  21. For those that did the buyback process, how much of the original purchase price did they refund?

  23. Bought my 2021 Silverado 1500 Duramax in March and it has done the long crank/no start about 10 times. The worst was yesterday morning for 15 mins multiple attempts. Finally started and took to the dealer today. They said the #20-NA-218 bulletin did not apply and they are inspecting the entire wiring harness. Not that confident about the approach, but whatever. I immediately turn off the auto stop/start as I'm terrified it would happen at a busy intersection. I probably should have bought the RAM.
