Did my first 2015 6.2 L86 cam job. Came in with a dead cyl #4 and a bent push rod
65k opted for new factory cam/lifters/vlom replacement.
took s few days to round up all the parts. Alldata say 30hrs
Sure felt like it. I worked on it over 2 5 day work weeks, few hours here and there. In hindsight should have done a gm reman and be done with it.
Waiting to see that oil pressure come up felt like forever!
RPO option came up on the alignment machine
so I figured it might have some useful info.
No pictures, came across the problem late friday. Will deal with Tuesday.
forged steel might not be the correct replacement but they will definitely mount up. Fun stuff
I still would like to figure out if correct parts are installed.
Maybe someone can answer the question of
Can a OEM cast aluminum UCA be replaced with a OEM forged UCA?
Thank you,
im doing the alignment. With several options for parts for the front end I dont know all the particulars.
From what I have read so far the forged steel UCA are different than the
cast aluminum and stamped steel.
Will dig into it on tuesday.
I have aligned several “leveling” mods with plenty of adjustment left.
Im maxed out. So my thoughts are the forged steel are different lengths/angles or maybe the spindle/knuckle had a different geometry?
With all the GMs I have done for ORM repairs
aluminum is replaced with aluminum
forged with forged
stamped with stamped
2014 k1500 5.3 RPO code R7C
doing alignment and can not get to alignment specs. New control arms and lower ball joints.
I think the wrong upper control arms where installed?
Theres a 2” leveling kit installed previously.
Currently has nee forged steel OEM UCS, cast steel knuckle and cast aluminum LCA ?
Adjusters are maxed out and I can just barely get ti 2.0’ caster and camber is -.05 ish
Sorry late friday and just dropped thevtools and went home. Looking for a plan for tursday
