Been lurking a long time, reading, learning, and I joined to ask a couple questions. I have a 2019 Silverado, been playing around with it for a year. I'm ready rip my ears off if I have to keep listening to the factory stereo so it's time for an upgrade.
I'm installing a component set in the front doors, tweeters will go in the dash, 2 ways in the rear doors, and a single 12" sub under the rear driver side seat. I have a LC7i LOC, mono amp, and 4 channel amp. I haven't done an install in easily 20 plus years, so I'm a bit behind on the times. Unlike my younger years, the goal is not all out bass, but a nice sounding "system".
My questions pertain to wiring the LOC. I have a non Bose, 8" screen setup. I need to know where to get my signals to the LOC. I don't want some ridiculous loud chime if I can avoid it. I've never done an install with a factory head unit, I've also used high end aftermarket head units when I was a kid. So having to use an LOC is foreign to me. Will I need to send the front and rear signals from the headunit, back to the LOC, or can they share a signal (send the fronts back to the front input on the LOC, then jumper to the rear input?). Or will that weaken the signal? Do I have to run the front out put of the HU to the front input, and also the rear out put of the HU to the rear input? Maybe this is straight forward to most, I just want to avoid issues. I've read some conflicting answers, some say don't use the rear signal as they aren't full range, some say the chime is an issue, etc.
Just looking for a clear cut definition of how to do send the signals. Also, how reliable is the auto sensing turn on for the LOC? That's foreign to me too. I'm used to having to pull a separate 12v turn on signal. I apologize for my ignorance, life was a bit simpler back in the day!!
