Defintely check the balance your camper, go tongue heavy if you need to. I towed a 33 ft tow behind trailer without a weight distribution hitch prior to upgrading to a 5th wheel. Id recommend looking into sumo springs over replacing your factory. Cheap, easy, and i was shocked by the improvement in bucking

Did a long trip down to the smokies..12 hours each way..Pennsylvania roads suck! Decided to try some sumosprings on the truck..will let you know how it works out for my next trip in June

Keeping this alive, I purchased the baseline overland rack that was linked above. Haven’t installed it yet. Debating just using the rivnuts as the direction say, vs dropping the headliner and placing a bracket inside the roof for each set of bolts..decisions decisions

Took the advice, leveled the camper to the truck better, still a little nose high, but can’t drop the hitch anymore without and still have 5.5 inches of clearance between the bed rails and the camper. Tightened up the hitch to the rails using rubber spacers, and loosened the bolts on the hitch, put the weight of the camper on it, and retroqued the bolts Things are way better, still can tell im hauling, but no longer feel like im getting beat up…thank you all

I don’t have screws bolts that hold it to the rails, just pins, I did shim the attachment points, but need a thinner one to add onto..1 layer isn’t quite enough, 2 is too much of course

I redid some measurements now that we are loaded and on level ground and found the rail to camper to be 8 inches, dropped the hitch 2 inches, also greased every connection point on the hitch itself and now have much more flex of the head. Looking forward to the ice going away so I can give it a test tow…

@lineman1234 I expected a different feel, it would have to be with how the weight is positioned on the truck, just didn’t expect to get beat up more with the 5-er, what hitch are you using?

Hey everyone, Aluminum adjustable ladder rack by Adarac, excellent shape, only used to haul kayaks. Upgraded to fifth wheel so no longer can use the rack. All mounting hardware included. According to Adarac website this rack fits 2020-current Silverado 2500s with 6’8” bed. Asking $350, located near Allentown PA

Hello everyone, Seeking sage wisdom and knowledge. Just upgrade from a TT to a 5th wheel. My Silverado is a 2024 2500 LT with the Z71 package. I install a curt rail kit and utilize a curt a20 20k hitch to tow a Grand Design 298bh, estimated weight of 10k with 2k pin. My issue is chucking. Everyone has commented that it must tow way smoother than a travel trailer, but my experience has been the opposite. Any irregularities in the road surface, any acceleration/deceleration causes the truck to have a push/pull feeling. I am looking for potential solutions. I’m going to shim the feet of hitch with rubber for isolation and take any slop out of the rail connection point. Would airbags for the truck help? thanks in advance

@Chopper_Man do you place the kayaks on the beds? Worried they would move around and damage furniture, trim, etc.

Contemplating going from a travel trailer to 5th wheel, and no this isn’t another payload and tow capability question. Looking for kayak hauling solutions. With our travel trailer we stored the bikes in the truck bed and Kayaks on an Adarac bed rack. However, with a 5th wheel we lose all that. The 5th wheel we are considering has a hitch so we can buy a 5 bike rack. The kayaks are a different story. Currently we have 5 of them. We can narrow it down to 3, but how to carry them. Any other solutions out there? I’ve seen the camper hitch mounted setups, but they don’t hold enough. I was wondering about truck roof rails?

I don’t have an HUD on my LT, however it does light up to the windshield for lane departure

Can’t re-create… Took it in for its second oil change, driving it less now then I had been, but still getting intermittent squeal with start up, or occasionally with shift into drive. Once again, dealer cannot replicate

I did the adarac as well, with a roll up cover, I would have preferred a trifold cover, but it’s more convenient to just roll it up when we are going camping for bikes, etc

Just curious your thoughts before I take it in my first service..2024 6.6 gasser intermittent issues 1. On some startups - brake pedal kicks back hard once motor turns over 2. Belt squeal 3. Intermittent hard downshifts, especially at low speeds in traffic 4. Wireless CarPlay works fine most startups, then just won’t on others 5. Lastly, no an intermittent issue, but a one time issue. Truck stopped in reverse, bumped 4lo button, message in dash to shift to neutral, pushed 2hi and message went away, drove off but during a short couple mile trip, heard grinding on slow turns, sounds like from the area of front diff Any constructive feedback before I take it in and get a bunch of “could not replicate” at the dealer?

I am in the same boat, 33 foot camper, tells me my trailer is too long?
