GM has issued a service update for certain 2024 and 2025 GMC Sierra HD units that have been found to have sediment present in their transmission fluid, with a field action available to fix the problem. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2024/10/some-gmc-sierra-hd-units-will-need-a-transmission-filter-replacement/

I've had my 2024 Sierra SLE 3500HD DRW Double Cab for 6 months now..... Love the truck I went with the Sierra specifically because I was able to get a standard tailgate, code (QK1), whereas the Silverado did not offer that option. I saved $450 by going with the standard tailgate. I want to remove the tailgate as easily as possible and see no need for the "transformers" tailgate My truck was ordered with the intent to purchase a slide in camper. I opted for the Snow plow / Camper springs code (VYU). Just recently drove the truck from St. Louis to New Mexico to rescue family stranded with a dead 2500HD. The truck drove so incredibly smooth, both unloaded and with a gooseneck trailer with the 2500HD diesel on it. No front end bounce even through some nasty work zone road surfaces. The 10-speed transmission is nothing short of awesome. Don't get me wrong, it's still a 1-ton truck, not my wife's Impala. Right now my only complaint is finding a slide in camper that meets my requirements of a pass-thru window and 3-way (propane) refrigerator. Anyone have suggestions for a camper similar to the Palomino HS-8801? Most manufacturers dropped the propane frig and pass thru window.

Rear Window with Larger Opening

Sierra Camper, We have identical interest..... I'm curious, what camper are you running (Length). I'm hoping to find a (short) slide in for my 2024 3500HD Dually. Would like to tow larger trailers and don't like the idea of a long receiver-hitch extension. Good luck, I'll keep my eye on this thread. -
I'm one to change fluids way early on "break-in". May cause some debate, just my preference. 1st oil change today at 1K miles on my new 2024 L5P. And yes, the differential was lower than 0.4" below fill hole ..... I plan on changing trans fluid in the 10 speed early ... (Open to hearing who did ATF change the earliest). I've got a 1992 C2500 TBI 350 that I immediately installed an aluminum trans pan and a cooler on when purchased. Changed ATF every 30 miles (max), sometimes used Wal-Mart brand ATF. At 200k+ miles the old girl shifts nice and smooth. Well worth being pro-active and lesson learned. Soooo, here's my question, how do you add a dipstick to the new 10 speed trans? Is there a pan out there that has a bung / dipstick? Is there a retrofit offered that screws into the "sight" hole? I've seen cast aluminum aftermarket pans with drain plugs and additional depth / fluid capacity for the 2023 model years. But again, unsure if retrofit to dipstick is on the market. Thank you for any response.

Double cab SLE, you betcha. I'm dangerous enough backing at the boat ramp that I don't need the extra length of the mega monster crew cab. I can place the trailer tires w/ pinpoint accuracy, it's just the front of the truck swinging like a pendulum that gets me in trouble -

Our time lines are running real close.... maybe they ran the double cabs at the same time...? Re: OPA winner's Banquet,... I wish, only in my wildest dreams. I'm just an offshore wanna be who's time has come and gone. Again, congratulations to Team Saris on the stellar year, maybe see ya at 2024 Lake Race. -

Well, I didn't want to lead anyone on a goose chase. I checked the GMC website this morning and my truck has been removed from available inventory. It has also been removed from the dealers website. Not sure what happened, it was up there for at least (1) day ...... sure was nice to see it Perhaps it was removed because it is been put on a truck for shipping, ..... wishful thinking. -

Order was placed in October 2023. Factory issued allocation to dealer 12/14/23. Production was scheduled for week of 1/29/24. I was surprised that my truck, being "pre-sold", is listed on GM's website as "inventory". -

My dealer recently informed me my truck was at production code 3400 (Broadcast) and had a planned build week of 1/29/24. TIP - I've been keeping an eye on GMC's website. I found my truck on GMC.com --->Shopping --->View Inventory. I simply set the configuration to "3500" & "Double cab", and, .... whoops there it is, in transit to my dealer! Hope this is useful to anyone. Now we wait for transit. -

" Oh, we'll just order white instead...unreal." Agreed ....... Guess if the dealer really doesn't care enough about what the customer really wants, ordering the most neutral color, White, would minimize the risk if it ends up sitting on the lot. -

Hi Red Hawk: I'm new to all this and unfortunately can't say I have a firm understanding, but happy to share my experience. (Started on P.33 of this thread) On October 2, 2023 I met with my small but reputable GMC dealer. I had already configured (built) the truck I wanted on GMC's website and was able to present a printout of the options / packages that I wanted. The dealer used that information to generate a "Deal Sheet" that listed the trucks configuration and the agreed price. It appears the "deal sheet" was generated internal to the dealer and was representative of the Window Sticker would be. I was required to check and initial each line item (option/package) on the deal sheet for accuracy, great idea in my mind. The deal sheet listed a specifically assigned "Deal #" & "Customer #". At that time I was informed clearly the dealer had no idea when my truck would be built. Fast forward ..... December 14th 2023 I got a call from my salesperson stating the factory had "picked up my order" (allocation assigned), however the 5th wheel / ball mount package was constrained, I hung up and drove to the dealer. While at the dealership the salesperson made a call to his GMC factory rep and told me he resolved the constraint. Also, I was told I could add a small option. The salesman presented me with a revised configuration that was generated on the corporate GM order Workbench system. The workbench order listed my newly assigned order number and "allocation group". I was once again required to check and initial each option/package line item for accuracy, again, good idea. At that time no firm delivery date could be established, however a welcomed "wild ass guess" of about early March was offered. That estimate seems consistent with the what I am reading on this thread that it takes about 8-9 weeks after the factory picks up the order. Simply out of excitement I will likely reach out to my salesman for an update. I hope this verbose response may offer some assistance, and maybe someone will chime in with additional information. -

Good information..... I'm trying to find forums regarding transporting a side x side in the truck bed. (Model of SxS not decided on, yet) I've got a 2024 1-ton dually on the way with the intent of putting a 2 seater UTV in the bed. Hopefully this will be done using minimum "racks" and driving or winching the SxS's front wheels over the wheel wells. My 8' bed will likely be long enough that the SxS may fit and allow closing of tailgate, if not, I ordered the optional "standard" tailgate to reduce wear & tear that would on the high feature tailgates. I've watched many UTube videos where guys have extravagant rack systems, many placing the SxS partially or fully over the truck cab. NO WAY!!! Sharing any input or experiences would be appreciated. Happy Holidays ......

Pretty much a piece of cake...... For my 1988 Chevy 3500 Dually the biggest concern was optimizing the size of the "trap door" and it's exact placement above the fuel pump sending unit. I wanted to size the door so it was large enough to access the fittings etc. above the pump and also allow the entire pump & sending unit to come upward through the bed. Yet, I wantede the opening as small as possible. Superimposing the "shadow" of the fuel pump upward to the underside of the bed was tricky. It would have been nice to use a right angle drill to drill upward into the floor of the bed thereby creating (4) corner points for reference. After that a reciprocating saw from the top side of the bed did the job. I was able to weld a hinge on the underside and add a stiffening ledge around the inner perimeter to keep the door from falling downward (think sewer lid). Job turned out beautiful, the ribs in the bed match up and the entire bed was coated with bedliner afterwards. Go for it! Happy new year .....

Greetings all: First posting sooooo, here we go ...... Ordered 2024 Sierra 3500 DOUBLE CAB DUALLY on October 2, 2023. (yes, the elusive unicorn) My GMC dealer is smaller but reputable and stated up front they did not have an allocation and likely would not during the remainder of 2023. Dealer required an up front $5000 deposit that, once the factory accepted the order, would be non-refundable. Will be interesting to watch the time line: 10/2/23 - Order placed and deposit made. 11/7/23 - Follow up; Salesperson stated no allocation available to dealer. They have however requested additional assistance from GM rep, but no response. 12/14/23 - Dealer has allocation!!!!! Unfortunately, factory 5th wheel / ball mount option is constrained. Going to dealer this afternoon to finalize order. Constraint resolved, my truck is now in the que for Flint, MI. 1/30/24 - Production status code = 3400 "Broadcast". Target production week set as 1/29/24. And the beat goes on ...... So far, so good.
