Okay I must be retarded or something. I guess I have just been at my truck fixing thing too long! This photo shows the white plug I was suppose to find the ground wire on the bottom row of wires add a longer ground to it and run it to the neg side of the battery right? Well for some reason I went to the coil pack to the left of that white plug, and see the plug on top of the coil pack? I added a ground wire to that ground and ran it to the battery? I am not sure what I was thinking but I don’t even have the right plug more or less the right ground wire. Did I just mess things up worse by doing the coil pack plug instead of the white plug? I am my own worst enemy! -

Yes you have told me that in the past, thank you I thought it might be a ground I will do that and let you know how it turns out. I appreciate you answering I almost hope you answer me I kinda have come to rely on you answering. Thank you. What about the other coil harness plug on the passenger side? Does that one ever need to be checked? -
I am at my wits end with this 8 coil pack no start ******. My truck has been down for 8 months now. I changed Transmissions and at first there was no spark no start and finally realized with all of your guy’s help it was the crankshaft position sensor plug wires. Fixed that put a new Nuetral Safety switch in with new wires. Well in the process here I blew my pump in my tranny pulled the tranny for the fourth time and put in a new pump. I put in new plug wires, spark plugs are new a few months back, they look good, I have checked all the fuses and relay’s, all the grounds, checked for pinched, broken or bare wires, changed camshaft position sensor, checked battery cables, checked the ECM it’s good, brand new fuel pump, checked the security system, It had spark and started before the last pulling of the Tranny. I have not checked the ignition switch or anything in the cab other then the fuses, I can’t imagine it being all 8 coil packs they looked good. So I just can’t seem to figure out what I havemissed, (almost ready to call a mobile mechanic)…. Hopefully someone out there can give me something for my check list I have gotten on there yet. I have watched thousands of You Tube videos, checked, double , triple checked things I just don’t know….please somebody HELP! lol….

I have pulled the starter again and realized I pulled the power wire apart for the Crankshaft position plug! Put it back together with a better connection and put the starter back in carefully this time so I don’t pull apart anymore plugs!!! She started right up!!! Yeah!! But now I have put 5 of 11 quarts of ATF in and didn’t pre fill my Torque Converter it’s reading way over full and won’t go into gear. I was told to let it idle for awhile so the fluid could warm up & have time to fill the TQ.it is still idling and hasn’t gone down yet on the dipstick. What could it possibly be? The TQ is seated properly and it’s rare the pump goes, so what should I do? Help!!

Just so everyone knows I got my truck running!!!! Thank you everyone who commented and helped me from a crank but no start!!! Now my truck shows over full on my tranny fluid which someone told me since I didn’t pre fill the Torque Converter that I would have to let it idle for awhile so the TQ could fill up. I have only put 5 of 11 quarts in. I also made sure the TQ was seated properly. Now it reads over full and not going into gear. I cannot believe one thing after another! So is it because I haven’t let it idle long enough to fill the TQ? Or dare I say could it be something else? Do I just let it idle longer? My truck has been sitting 6 months now I hope It’s an easy fix!!?!

Okay so I changed the Crankshaft Position Sensor plug….no change. So I bought and replaced the sensor as well…no change. Could the oil level sensor plug cause the no start? I ran a diagnostic reader and got 41 C- codes and 14 P-codes. Now after I freaked out I realized a lot of the codes with inactivity and performance in them were only coming up because she has not moved or drove anywhere since the tranny swap like 8 months now, so I am trying to eliminate the codes down to maybe what my problem is. What a way to make yourself crazy!! My truck had no codes prior to all this so the PCM or the brain of course would not have any memory because I cleared it disconnecting the battery. I have pulled the PCM to check for corrosion they were clean as a whistle. So I am still at square one no spark out of any of the 8 coil plugs!! I have to get my truck running again work will be starting up again and I have put a butt load of money into this and I am broke, frustrated and at my wits end….where do I go from here???? Please help. Thank you all for all your help and knowledge, I so appreciate you all!!! Should I test the COP coils? Idk……

Hey bud well I ended up buying a new Crankshaft Position Sensor and put it in. I ran a diagnostic tester on my truck before trying to start it, it said Left front wheel speed sensor circuit open…? Now I don’t know what that means but it sounds like something I should fix before starting it…right? Can I close the circuit? Wow anything else want to come up so my truck stays broke down for another 8 months?

Cranks but will not start.
Liz Kozel-Gill replied to RICKY13's topic in 1999-2013 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I have a 2000 5.3LT going through the same crap you could check out my profile and the answers I got…might help. I am going to check the wires to the crankshaft pos. Sensor thanks to your profile….thank you. Hope my answers help you… -
Okay I changed the crank position sensor plug same thing crank but no start….& no spark still…Aaaarrrrrrggggggg!!!!!! What could it possibly be? No more wires are pinched or broken. I put a new Nuetral Safety switch in but I had the metal pin on it to make sure I had it adjusted right, I know that being off alittle will make it not start but will it also make the plugs have no spark? Any ideas anyone?

Thank you I will check out that site and check out the crank position sensor..thank you so much I appriciate all your guys help so much!!!! Thank you for the site it was perfect! I had the green wire totally disconnected from the Crank Pasition sensor plug! This certainly could’ve been the problem.I was wondering if you think that can be fixed or should I just get a new one? The way I had to shove the starter in and wiggle it out several times it’s so wonder that’s the only wiring problem there…lol Hopefully this will be the last part I have to buy this go around…Thank you sooo much again!!!

It started and ran after the swap, then I unbolted the bellhousing until I could put my little hands in there and seat the TQ, bolted it back up and put a new Nuetral Safty Switch and changed out both plugs. I checked everything I did twice to make sure I did it right and a buddy checked it as well, nothing would cause it to not spark from every spark plug? It’s something under the hood I think, just not sure what I have checked everything it seems like I am just spinning my wheels. Would the Crank Shaft position sensor cause no spark no start maybe….

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3LT, I swapped out my 4l60e tranny for a used good running one, I struggled but got er in. I started her up and she was a little rough at first but ran fine, I put 4qts of ATF in and she read over full hot and cold check. So I pulled tranny to seat my torque converter, I didn’t pre fill it either. Anyway after that I couldn’t start her. So a new neutral safety switch I put in and new plugs to it. She would turn over but not start at this point. No spark it sounded like. So I checked the spark plugs and all 8 coil packs power to packs but not to plugs and no spark in any of them. So I proceeded to check all the fuses, relay’s & sensors that had anything to do with the ignition/ starter system. Everything was working. So I checked the PCM plugs, battery cables and all wiring to coil plugs. All the ground wires under the hood. I reset the security program in case it locked up something in the ignition system. I was told maybe check the Cam Shaft Position Sensor? I am at my wits end and still can’t get her to do anything but turn over, she started before? What am I missing? All 8 coil packs are not getting power to plugs and all 8 plugs are not sparking it’s gotta be something simple? Please help no one on my end can figure it out.
