  1. The same feelings are shared here. So much money for a truck to have this level of problems. My previous truck ('06 Silverado) had 200K miles with zero engine or transmission problems, so brand loyalty was a legit factor in my purchase of my first new vehicle ever. But the way GM is handling (or more accurately NOT handling this) is actively working against and eroding that brand loyalty.
  2. I operate a business and would never claim that we never make any mistakes. We do our best to avoid them but when a mistake happens we own up to them and do what's necessary to correct it. It is a shame that that is not appear to be happening for a lot of people. Truck Girl is taking these steps and it sucks that we even have to hassle with that stuff on a $60k+ truck. Taking care of the valve body is the bare minimum that I would expect they would do. My bigger concern is that if the valve body is going bad, what is happening to the transmission inside? My previous Silverado had 200,000 mi on it and I never had a single transmission or engine issue so I was very disappointed to have this transmission issue on this truck.
  3. In a few different forums, it seems like the experience varies from person to person, and dealer to dealer. But one common thread seems to be that the dealers locally tend to be more concerned with it because they're the front line. GM as a company is not making it right him putting their dealerships in a good position. I was told that mine would take up to 3 or 4 weeks. And then when I had one in a couple of days the service person at the dealership seemed completely floored. Once I started learning more about this problem, I understood why she was so surprised that it was in that quickly.
  4. 3 Weeks After Valve Body Replacement Update: Part# was the same as the one they took off. I confirmed that the part # would switch if GM started using a different supplier. (So the part they put on at less than 35K miles, will be in the back of my mind until I get long past the 70K mark. ) I have noticed the lower gears seem to not be as smooth as it was before. Seems like it revs higher at times before the gear actually switches. To add some context to that though: I'm generally a pretty easy driver. (I'm one of those that likes seeing 30+mpg if I'm not pulling a trailer.) But when pulling out on the highway or something, I do give it more throttle to not be a pain in the a**. When I try to give it that get-on-it, i notice more of the searching. I dont hardly feel or hear a thing when going through the higher gears, but going over hills I kinda feel like it should maybe make the next shift up sometimes and it doesn't do it when it kinda seems to me it should be. It has been super cold here for the past couple of weeks. (single degree temps) There is apparently a "learning time" for the TCM of around 500-1000 miles, where it will learn your driving habits and program accordingly. I am around 250 miles at this point. I did not have the Banks iDash during my first few months with the truck and did not "see" when it was in what gear. Now I do have that displayed and perhaps I just notice it more because of that? Maybe I didnt notice it doing this during my first few months of owning the truck because I was distracted by the shiny new toy? I have found this forum very helpful, so thank you to the folks sharing stuff here. I will try to keep updating periodically. My busy season for my business will hit in about a month and that is where my true test will begin. I'll be on the road with a trailer almost daily for about 10 weeks straight.
  5. Good deal. Squeaky wheel and grease and all that, but I seriously was trying to make sure that they knew there are more people with this issue than is reasonable for a reputable company to have. I did get to a GM rep today but didn't really love the needle for my comfort level/confidence that the truck is actually fixed. Referred me to local dealers technician who could be able to find more info about the VB that was put on. My ticket had the same part # listed as the one that went bad. Still don't know if I'm dealing with a legit fixed one or got one that was still from the old batch. Will have to try to call the dealer tomorrow
  6. Thank you for posting the update. I'm nervous about it. I have not had much driving on the redone one yet. I have only driven a little bit and I can't tell if Im being paranoid or if it is searching a little bit to get from 1st to 3rd. I have some driving to do after work and will be trying to keep radio off and pay attention for any sounds and see how it feels under some different conditions. Will not be towing anything today, but in a couple of days I will be pulling my trailer around for a little while. But to your point, it does stink that people are still getting hit with this issue. I'm still trying to get some word from GM rep as to what (if anything) they are going to do to help with the peace of mind.
  7. It kind of stinks that the situation exists to begin with, but a company has to truly care about their reputation and brand and what role their products play in the lives of their customers. Anybody who is running into this issue, I would just encourage you to contact GM customer service. I don't know that it is helping my situation individually or not, but I am trying to do it to make sure that the company recognizes those things that I just mentioned. I do hope That it will get me to some sort of resolution that will help reinstill the peace of mind that I have in this truck, because my previous one had almost 200,000 mi on it and I never had any engine or transmission issues. I did not worry when I hit the road in that truck. But if we don't speak up and make sure that they hear that message directly, I don't think they will get it
  8. I did so much research before I bought mine, but it was all related to the engine. LM2 made me nervous but was promising. LZ0 had me sold. Never would have imagined the an issue like this would go through three model years (20-22) and then still be going now I have expressed this concern to GM. Will see what they respond with, if anything.
  9. I expressed the exact same frustration to the GM rep I spoke with. I told her that I purchased a $60,000 truck, brand new, and a year and a half later had to call a friend to come pick up a trailer (in his Ford). The question he asked was obvious: "Sure, man, but what's up with your fancy new truck?" When the answer was not, "I wrecked it" but instead, was "A transmission valve problem that has been happening with these trucks for three years" it hits differently. Not only does it diminish their brand, but it will give me pause about what truck I will buy next. I had an '06 with 200,000 miles on it. Never had a single engine or transmission issue. I am very good about regular maintenance and I dont drive like an idiot, but I used it like a truck. I had zero reservations buying a brand new one, and that feeling is shaken with this situation. To their credit, the dealer has been great and communicative, but she was surprised when the part came in so quickly and it was kindof just a lucky situation. It's a bad sign when so many of these are being done, that the company cant keep up with the replacement parts.
  10. I just picked it up yesterday, and had to pick up and run around three different trailers. It seemed fine yesterday. But you better believe I will be paying close attention for a while. Mine happened over 30K miles, so it will take quite a bit of driving (during the busy season for my business, where I can not afford this downtime) before I start to actually feel comfortable about it again. I have not been able to get any confirmation or suggestion at this point as to whether or not the extension of a warranty that was apparently given to 2020-2022 model years is going to be extended to us as well. The GM rep that I spoke with seemed to not answer that head on...it was one of those "i'm calling on a recorded line" situations and I imagine they have to tread carefully there, but I did ask about it.
  11. 2023 1500 w/LZ0 and just got bitten by the valve body gremlin. Little over 30k miles, less than a year and a half old. Everything that I have read on here seems pretty much what I'm experiencing, with one exception. I got a call today from the dealer and the lady sounded pretty dumbfounded that the part was in and my truck was already repaired. It's been in for less than a week, and when she first told me that I didn't understand fully why it would be such a surprise. After going through and looking at all this stuff on this and other forums, how? I totally understand why she was so shocked that it was fixed so quickly. This is something that has been going on with these transmissions for a few years now, and it does make me nervous. That they are still dealing with this issue in the current generation of the trucks.
