So what happens if the battery goes dead, are you able to use the tailgate? My jumper cables are in a toolbox under a tonneau cover, cant open it without opening the tailgate. Accidently bumping the switch and dropping the tailgate onto the trailer jack would really piss me off.

Why didn't you just fix the old cover? Easy fix to me.

Thanks! I like the look of that, if I get a new chev instead of a gmc I will be adding that to the list, not going to spend any money on this truck.
