  1. It's been a while since I had my 07 GMC with AFM but I remember it being very easy for the truck to shift out of AFM mode. I just picked up this 14 on Saturday and it seems to me that the truck stays in AFM mode longer. I can even gain speed on the interstate while in AFM mode. I have to ease down on the gas but I can gain speed. It seems to me it has been upgraded since the 07.
  2. I took this pic today while my wife and I were out running around. I thought this was going to be the high water mark. Turns out I was wrong. I got up to 25.6 at one point. Very happy with that. Here is my first pic of a 50 mile running average. This is the only picture I have at the moment. It's one my wife took while I sat in the truck and learned about some of the features of the truck in an empty parking lot.
  3. Just picked up my 2014 yesterday, 43000 miles, Saturday. So far I have about 75 miles on it since then. Years ago I had an 07 GMC Sierra extended cab with 5.3 AFM and factory 20 inch wheels. The average for that one over the life of it was 18.408 according to the aCar app on my phone. It would go in 4 cylinder mode and if you changed pedal position, it would step back to 8 cylinder mode. This 14 Silverado I am able to ease down on the gas and actually gain speed. It seems they have done work on the AFM and to me it seems to be better. I just about the last 10 pages of this thread and am really impressed with the reports some of you guys are giving. Maybe by the end of the week I can add a pic of my averages. When I parked it last night it was near 22.5 MPG for the cruise around and drive home.
  4. Thanks for the reply Jiba1681.
  5. I like the vinyl wrap on the bumper. That looks nice. What brand wrap did you use and how much material? I am seeing 3M Scotchprint. I have used 3M brand products before and been happy with them.
  6. Just curious if anyone knows how accurate this is? I am sure there is a certain amount that does not drain out of the truck. Also did you drain the oil out of the filter into the bottle? I let the truck drain overnight into the pan and put the filter on the pan to drain when I do my oil changes. It may not be 100% accurate but it still gives you an idea that the truck is using oil either way. I don't think the filter holds 1.5 quarts, maybe .5 quarts.
  7. Mine is an 07 with the 5.3 and AFM. I use Mobil 1 or Penzoil Synthetic oil with a Wix oil filter. I changed my oil this weekend with 5000 miles on it. When I drained the oil into the pan, I put it back into the one of the old oil bottles. It filled the bottle back to just over 4 quarts. It takes about 6 quarts to fill the truck to the line. I used about 2 quarts in about 5000 miles.
  8. Couple of quick questions because I have came across a Cadillac Escalade at the junkyard with the heated steering wheel. How much should one of these cost coming out of the yard like this. Of course the cheaper the better for me but an idea would be pretty cool so I do go in there and pony up big bucks. Two, what size is the nut that holds the steering wheel to the column? I will be going down the yard in the morning to take a closer look at it.
