Licensed mechanic in Ontario Canada since 1981. Hold Truck and Coach license, as well as Auto Service license. This used to be called a Class A license.

Worked at Chrysler dealership as auto transmission mechanic, overhauling A904 and 727 auto transmissions from 1977 to 1982. Worked at Firestone stores as a general mechanic from 1982 to 1991, specializing in tune up, front end, and 4 wheel alignments. 1991 had a career-ending back injury. Have worked in computer support since then, with me now being Director of IT for a software development company.  That company closed up shop in Canada and bought me off.

Worked at Cummins OER for about 18 months initially assembling Volkswagon cylinder heads, and after they announced they were moving to Mexico I got a job at Estee Lauder plant setting up filling machines and keeping them running during production runs.  They hired a new head of the department I was in and he had one of those one on one meetings where you were encouraged to offer your opinions, it was a "frank and open discussion".  Next day I was intercepted on the way in and told HR wanted to see me.  I go in the room and my manager is there along with the head of HR.  Apparently a "frank and open discussion" has a different meaning there.  I was told that I no longer fit the company.  My back was acting up again so I essentially retired.  I remember growing up seeing those television commercials for "Freedom 55", I didn't make it, mine was Freedom 45.  Haven't worked since then.

Cummins OER was the best company I ever worked at.  They paid attention to their employees, and there you could talk to management about anything that would help production.  If it was not a well thought out idea, they didn't look down on you or hold it against you.  That plant also built the Chrysler performance engines, including the original HEMI engines.
