What did you do with your truck/shop today

^^ I need to make a screen/grill for my transmission hole. Today I loaded up a couple 2x4x8' boards, a sheet of plywood, and my buddy's kayak to take down to his new house and also see the house finally. Family is in town, one went to get in the front passenger door and the damn thing wouldn't open. So now I have to figure out how to get inside a closed door. Can't pull the door panel all the way off when the door is closed. My buddy thinks it's one of the plastic tabs for the mechanism. Also my passenger rear door was full of water again. This thing needs to last at least until the HD redesign comes out but the way it's going lately I'm not so sure. Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

Just in case y'all were wondering wheel weights are not good for bed liners lol. Of course since I washed my truck this morning it rains, and is predicted to rain for the next 5 days. So much for cleaning my interior. Hopefully I can change my fuel filter in the morning before it rains again. Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

Finally gave her a bath. It's not perfect but it's still better than nothing. It's been so long since I've used that soap it grew its own friend lol. I need to figure out why 2 of my fender markers are collecting water. I guess after all this time the seals are wearing out. Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

Monday helped my buddy move by taking a truckload of stuff to his new house. That was about 3.5 hours of driving in total. Also replaced the front driver's side rear fender marker since water somehow got into it and killed the other led. Also put dielectric grease on all 4 of the fender markers. Today had the oil changed and front end grease. Had a new valve stem put on the spare tire. Bought another 10 gallons of delvac 1300 since Mobil's new rebate period started. They increased the rebate too, it used to be $25, now it's $35 per 5 gallons. So after autozone's sale price, $20 rewards discount, and future $70 rebate I'll have gotten 10 gallons for less than 5. Also went to the dealership to set up another appointment to figure out why my truck is shaking. Parts guy is back so that's a plus. I guess the dealership gave him a better offer and brought him back. -

Still boggles my mind how expensive they've become. -

Took it back to get road force balanced again, don't think it did any good. Just for S&Gs the tires/rims were marked to see if the tires are spinning on the rims. Didn't know this was a thing but apparently it has happened on aluminium rims and is even more rare on steel rims which is what I have. Got home and pulled the 2 DRL fuses to save what few hours my headlights are on driving around during the day. Took a walk around the dealer's lot while there. Down to 2 duallies the LTZ and a Denali. Still looking for that "unicorn" that fits my apparently absurd wants. Also stopped and was amazed that a Z06 can cost $108-$110k! Last I knew they were only 70-80ish and the ZR1s or whatever they are were 6 figures. Inquired about a test drive on one of the duallies but I guess since I wasn't interested in actually buying and the sales staff wasn't all there yet, no test drive. -

Took the truck to get balanced again. This time had it road force balanced. They said one was at 24 and the rest were under 20 so I guess they're fine. Not sure if it actually fixed anything, I'll find out when I hit the highway to work tonight since I couldn't even get up to 45mph on the way home. Certainly doesn't help not being able to find a smooth road. I also need to find an anti-hitch rattle device. Bought a blue ox one made for 2.5" receivers but I guess my Draw-Tite's lip on the receiver is too thick and then the bolts didn't want to fit over the shaft w/o some hammering and paint gouging. Maybe I'll get ambitious and hammer some wheel weights into the space. Might be easier to just flatten out some of my cast bullets and wedge those in there. I'll figure something out one day. Truck needs a bath again too. Dealer actually had 4 duallies there today. 3 Denalis and a LTZ so thankfully over equipped and priced for what I want to pay. -

Yeah that's where most of his stuff has to go, some goes up front with him though. -

Picked up my buddy from fleet and drove him home because he had to turn in his pool car. How the heck does all that, plus a large bag in my bed, fit in a tiny impala and still have room for him. Besides his height no wonder he can't wait until he gets whatever the Ford suvs are, Explorers I think? Then he had to drive most of the way back in his POV to attend training. Drained the door fluid from my door. Figures I laugh my butt off at my buddy's Ford collecting water in his doors a few weeks ago. I only had water in my rear passenger door compared to his 2 or 3 doors that had it. There was quite a bit of water in mine, more than his I think. I don't know why mine didn't drain on its own, none of the drain holes were stopped up like his Ford was. Only thing preventing draining was the rubber piece down on the bottom of the door, lifted that a tiny bit and water poured out of the drain holes. I wiped under that piece a few times with a rag so maybe that'll help. Also checked the pressure in all 6 tires, now that I think about it I forgot the spare. Should be fine. The color difference between high and low would annoy me too, even if I can't really see it. I haven't done the fog light mod yet. Did it to my '06 had everything but the DRLs on when I turned the high beams on. Once I get my headlight lenses cleaned I'll have a lot better lighting, just need to get off my butt and have it done. -

Interesting, I never thought about disabling the DRL feature. I really don't need it as I use the driving lights/fogs all the time as running lights anyway. I guess I'll have to look into that. Just pull the DRL fuse if I've got one? I never gave much thought to HIDs since I use my high beams a lot and I always thought that HIDs took a few seconds to come on? So switching low/high constantly would be bad for them, even if the lows stay on when going to high. -

I don't think I replaced the headlights in my '06. It was just stupid easy to do. I'm hoping these going so often is just me not using dielectric grease. I guess I'll find out since I finally put some on these. If not then I guess I'll be going down to the cheaper sylvanias, or even a different brand. -

Changed headlight bulbs and since I had the airbox out I blew that out and cleaned the filter a little. Really miss how easy it was to change bulbs on my '06 and '01. More complicated and I have to do it more often, go figure. -

If you had gone south into Florida it could have depending on what time of the year. I've seen worse too. That was just a quick google picture search. I think it's someone's rental from their vacation here in Orlando too lol -

Dad ran Generals on the truck when he was alive. Didn't say anything against them that I can remember. He didn't go through the hassle of rotating the tires so when it was time to replace the rear tires I was going to stick with Generals. I don't know if they randomly ceased production of them in that size or everyone was just out at that time but I couldn't find the ones I wanted online so I said screw it and had my tire shop order me 6 Michelins. I also couldn't have 2 Generals on the front and another maker for the 4 on the rear, it would eat at me. Tire selection was pretty abysmal for the stock tire size, I think only 2 brands were selling them, so I changed to a different size but kept the same overall height. I still don't know why he never really rotated, it's not like he was doing it himself. I rotate them myself and it's easy. ^^^^^ BUGS!!!! lol. I've never personally let mine get anywhere near that horrible but it's not completely uncommon to see here. -

Yeah I'm with Chevor, what bugs? JSdirt he has a 2011 (if I remember correctly) F150 w/ the ecoboost. No drain plug on the transmission, the rear diff, or radiator. No dipstick for the transmission. I don't have a drain plug for coolant either but my hose is on the bottom do less mess when ya king it to drain. His is over halfway up the block so lots of mess. I believe his fox bodies don't have drain plugs /dipstick/fill tube either. I need to figure out what's messed up on my truck. I've had it balanced 4 times by 2 different shops, balancing beads, and it still wants to shake. Quite annoying as it started fairly recently. I can handle the supposedly right ride but not the shaking or loose altering feel. Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

Replaced the sway bar end links things. Don't know if it'll help my problems any but the bushings are new now so I guess it can't hurt. Also dropped the transmission pan, changed the filter, and refilled transmission on buddy's F150. What a pain in the ass to do that w/o a nice fill tube/dipstick tube like we've got. Pumping the fluid in there from underneath sucks. Good thing he did all the work lol -

Georgia State Patrol loves to sit in droves on an overpass on I75 a few miles north of the Florida line. They're like ants right there. Up on top of the overpass and parked on the opposite side of traffic on the slopes of the overpass. Pretty funny that my buddy and his dad have been warning each other and me for years about it. Both have been pulled over there. Of course they show their creds and get the "professional courtesy pass." lol turds Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

I didn't get that in VA when I was there in October. I'm pretty sure I can't count that high. I hit a whopping 64,000 miles on the way home. I'd say still not broken in yet but the problems it's had over the years would say otherwise I think. -

Yeah it rained off and on the 2 days we were working on our trucks. I was on the gutter side so I was laying in a mini river yesterday. Nothing like ATF and run off water to condition the hair and skin. I had the lumbar motor replaced on my driver's seat a couple months ago. Unfortunately for some reason the extended warranty didn't cover the bottom rear seat motor so now the bottom back of my seat doesn't move up and down. Front can still be angled. -

Yesterday my buddy and I did front brakes on a dodge caravan. Then the sky decided to open up right as we were dropping my transmission pan. We changed the external filter, internal changed to a deep pan filter, and installed a deep pan filter. Supposed to add an additional 3 quarts of fluid to the system. So far I've put in a little over 3 gallons of fresh transmission fluid. Such a pain to find Mobil delvac 1 ATF. None of the parts stores have it, only NAPA said they could get it. $43.75 a gallon. Some sellers on amazon are selling it $70+ before shipping. Today drove my truck to the dealership to return the coolant that I ended up not even using. Also checked on what the torque spec is for the rear diff drain plug. 24 lb/ft, same for the fill plug too. Neither one were anywhere close. Pretty sure the transmission plug wasn't anywhere close to whatever it was supposed to be. $400+ later in parts and fluids I'm good for another couple months. -

My buddy and I drained the coolant, his F150 doesn't have a drain plug on the radiator either, put fresh stuff in. Did the rear diff fluids on both as well. Again he didn't have a drain plug so in the time it took for his to be vacuumed/sucked out with his fancy contraption we pretty much had mine drained and refilled. Checked his rear brakes and then moved to the fronts. His front stuff was pretty rust welded on. He had to literally beat his rotors with a hammer multiple times to get them to come off. Just out of curiosity anyone know what the torque spec is for the rear diff drain plug? I know this is a cheap no name extension but still. I'm pretty sure it also broke the impact rated extension we used as well since that snapped trying to take a lug nut off his truck. Sent from my Find7 using Tapatalk -

Swapped out the passenger front door lock actuator. Pretty easy to do thankfully. Finally swapped out one of my aux light switches for one that correctly says they are the front lights instead of "bed lights." Door panels are pretty dirty hopefully next weekend I'll do some cleaning on it. -

Drove around looking for fluids for my upcoming fluid changes this weekend. Shockingly the dealership's 50/50 coolant was the cheapest so I got 7 gallons of that. 4 quarts of Mobil 1 gear old 75/90 for the rear end. Unfortunately no one on my side of town carries Mobil 1 delvac ATF so I'll either have to call the Allison authorized place across town or just have my buddy pick me up some from NAPA after they order it. $300 in parts/filters yesterday and $130 so far today in fluids. ATF is going to be another 100+ if I end up getting the mobil stuff. Why the heck do I own a truck again? :-p
