  1. I can't remember the last time I went though an auto carwash. Usually don't feel like folding in the mirrors plus finding a touchless. Although they are waaaaaaaaaay cheaper than paying someone to hand wash it. Great now I'm looking into beefier hitches...stupid interwebs.
  2. I think I've spent 6+ hours a couple times on my trucks exterior and interior. That's also with ADD kicking in and me being slow. Every couple years I get lazy and pay someone to do it, they always suck, and then I remember for another couple years to not waste the money and do it myself. Windows really bother me since most of my driving is at night, when they get done they have to be crystal clear, any streaking is instantly noticeable when driving at night. Just rained earlier today, wonder how many more spots I have.
  3. Not mine, that black tahoe I had as a loaner reaffirmed my never wanting a black truck in Florida. The only reason I'd get a black truck is because people expect black vehicles to be dirty so I'd fit that stereotype to a T. I think I still have some VA mud on my truck. Sometimes I envy people with tiny cars, probably takes 10 minutes to wash their car. An hour to clay and wash lol?
  4. I should probably look into a whole house system, or at the very least that system. I always have hard water spots the few times I actually wash my truck. Also doesn't help that the sprinklers at work spot the hell out of my windows and mirrors either Also need to figure out who I want to go with to tune my duramax.
  5. Drove the truck out to the boat, buddy and I spent 6 or 7 hours gutting a lot of the interior. Used the truck to haul the bad stuff to the burn pile. Went back today and pulled some more stuff out of the boat and took more stuff to the burn pile as well as loaded up the bed with good stuff/stuff we might use later and took that home for storage on my back porch.
  6. Check engine light came on the other day, #7 glow plug. Scanned it again tonight just to double check which one it was before going and getting a glow plug and replacing it, #3 glow plug showed up as a pending fault. Buddy and I said screw it and replaced the 4 odd number glow plugs in around an hour. So now with only 54,xxx miles all 8 glow plugs have been replaced. Then we went and put another tarp on the boat to protect the Bimini cover from the FL sun. Going back tomorrow to pull one of the carburetors off so we know what to look for to replace them. Probably after that going to go to the trailer shop and see what they have for weight distribution set ups, I don't know what the bars I have are rated for plus I want to get a system with sway control built in anyway and handle 13,000 lbs or more. I think with the boat ready to go it's going to be 12-13k with full fuel tanks, fresh water, trailer, and all our gear.
  7. Yep they come down and never leave. What really gets me going is when people move here because they hated where they were and how things were done. Which is fine, but then they act and vote the exact same as they did back home and then stupidly wonder why this state is going to poop. Sounds like way too many people for me.
  8. On time? Under budget? What dream world are you living in, it isn't Florida. Most of our roads are under construction and take so long that it seems they have to start over by the time they finish. The one in the video was near the end of the South bound turnpike I believe. A lot of things on the coast will probably closed for a little while. Disney sounds horrible, I can get in free and still don't want to go, but I hate crowds so what do I know. Plus I'm cheap a... Turnpike, 408, 429, 528, and 417 are the toll roads I'm familiar with in central Florida. There are more down south but that's too close to Miami for me to care.
  9. She wasn't that old, I wasn't anywhere near tailgating her, and the stupid turnpike better be smooth dangit that's what we pay those tolls for. Also since the weather people didn't know when the hurricane was going to hit 5 minutes could have made a difference between me getting fuel or not before the people who hadn't been out of state for the last week and a half took it all. Yeah the roads are decent here and shockingly an empty dually rides nice too lol. Useless govt over hyping a storm that wasn't even as bad as our summer storms. *edit* Also we bilk ourselves and tourists dry with our hotel and fuel taxes. Fuel taxes probably are supposed to go to the roads and I don't remember what the tourist tax goes to, quite a few things.
  10. Found it. Seriously how the hell do you not see a black econoline????
  11. If I had gone straight home from VA I would have probably ended up on 95. My back apparently doesn't like road trips after 6 hours so I went the same way back as I did going, detoured to Alpharetta GA(north of atlanta) to stay with my buddy again. From there took whatever roads to 75 to the turnpike to the 408. I didn't hit 95 on my entire journey though. It didn't matter what road I was on people seem to think it's fine to cruise in the left lane of the highway. Flashing my umpteen headlights at them and blasting my air horns did little to persuade them otherwise. One moron damn near caused an accident trying to get out of my way by trying to go through a black econoline. How the hell she didn't see that van is beyond me, if I can find the video of it on my dash cam I'll post it up, I don't think I've done 3 hours of driving since then.
  12. Hauled butt home to get here before the hurricane. Completed my almost 3,000 mile road trip. Hasn't even rained enough to clean the Virginia mud off my tires. I guess the dealer fixed my truck. No problems even though I did a lot of highway driving at 80+ and too many 60-90 mph full throttle sprints because morons cant stay out of the left lane on the highway.
  13. Took my uncle to look for a dress shirt, picked up some food, also stuff to make smores. Stopped for lunch at some Italian restaurant. Most importantly I got my tires sniff and bite inspected. :-)
  14. lol I don't know if I was satisfied. I was quite the ahole insisting that I wanted a truck and they kept telling me they didn't have one as a loaner. The service people have been taking care of us for years so they try pretty hard to keep me at least complacent. I guess the tech even ended up staying late on a Friday night to mostly finish up my truck so I could get it back yesterday. Replaced the suspension/frame stops last night when I got home. On the rear I have feet between the frame and the stops, on the front they touch just sitting there. Isn't there supposed to be open air?
  15. Finally brought it home after 2+ weeks in the shop. Feels good to be driving a truck again. Also went and picked up the frame stop/bumpers for the front end since those are disintegrating, not a huge deal but I know they're there so I'm going to replace them. Maybe tonight if it cools down enough. Need to check the air pressure in the tires and probably clean the windows before I leave in the morning. Yay part prices...
  16. Went to get a status update on my truck that the dealership has had since last Wednesday. Told the service guy I couldn't stand driving that tiny car of a 1500 and that I don't care if it's 10+ year old 2500 or 3500 I'll take it over that car. So I ended up with a Tahoe, tons and tons better feeling driving that. Shop I guess settled on what to replace this time: Injection pump, fuel filter housing, and I the "condent pipe oring" do the paper says. $1900 repair costing me $0, yep those extended warranties sure are worthless. Of course the parts are on backorder. Might just be taking my road trip in this Tahoe instead. I miss my truck :-(
  17. Nope not true the loaner thing they gave me is a little truck. More like a car to me, but I'm just an angry ahole so what do I know.
  18. Helped install a light bar and aux rear lights on buddy's F150 last night. This morning took the loaner car down to the boat to make a to do list and grab my fishing stuff buddy has been storing for me. We need to go through and sort it out and see what we put on the boat. Still can't get used to how quiet the loaner is, darn v6. Got the mpg up to 19 something. Seems like a waste to get a v6 if I could get that mileage with the 5.3. Didn't break with the little bit of tackle I put in the bed.
  19. You can take it with you just lock it up away from you. As long as you don't stop in MD you're legal.
  20. I don't want to moderate anything. I'm too much of an a-hole with too little patience. It wouldn't be pretty.
  21. Yeah sounds about right. I still have to look it up every time, my memory is pretty bad.
  22. It's sad, I still haven't learned the platform names. I have an 09HD I like the look of my 09HD much better than the 06HD I had. I hated that Avalanche front end look. Made me miss the front end on my '01HD, seeing my 01HD the other day made me miss it too. Maybe I should have told them I was going to have to move my boat and haul a couple pallets of concrete mix around. I wonder what putting either on this will do to it lol
  23. Loaner yes, but I'm assuming I'm the first real driver since it had 7 miles and 1.1 engine hours. I did figure out it has an auto lock/unlock tailgate. I don't do vehicle break in periods so... Yeah :-D. Won't be stupid with it but I'm not going to baby it, I don't baby mine sure as hell not going to baby this.
  24. Sunday/Monday installed some LED bars/pods. Lights up real nice when I put it in reverse now. Today Dropped it off at the dealer since the fuel filter ran dry again. Maybe they'll figure it out this time. At least this time they gave me something that slightly resembles a truck. Be nice if they'd give you something even close to comparable to what you're getting fixed. The Beast weighs more than this tiny thing's gvwr lol. Still better than that Encore they gave me last month. Interesting how even though this has a v6 the estimated miles for the tank arevabout half of what mine shows with a full tank. I'll have to check and see what it shows after I've driven it for a while. Probably doesn't have enough drive time on it to be anywhere near accurate.
  25. Drove down to River Ranch with a friend for an over night get away. Sometimes I think Google knows me too well. It took us down a 10 mile dirt/gravel road instead of a paved road. Got to see lots of Florida ranch land on the 1.5 hour drive there, as well as the return trip. Truck got a good dirt/mud water bath on that dirt road. The stay at the ranch was fun even if some of the activities were closed due to all the rain we've been having. Truck needs a good bath now, I don't think the rain that's going on now is going to do much to clean it. If it stops raining my buddy and I are going to install a bunch of lights on our trucks. Also need to check the tranny filter as there's an ever so tiny bit of fluid accumulating on the filter bottom, only about a drop. Nothing falling on the driveway that I can tell.
