What's up Guys. Writing this to gain some knowledge from gear heads that are more educated then I am. I probably did all this backwards but available funds played a role in the sequence of my purchases. Below is the order and links to all purchased items. Diablo I3 Tuner- https://www.diablosport.com/intune-i3-performance-tuning/ Throttle Body Spacer- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IBV4K6A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Cold air intake- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GP8FKGU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Performance exhaust- https://www.magnaflow.com/products/12867-performance-muffler-magnaflow-5-round-straight-through-performance-muffler?variant=18434149384307 I started off by tuning it with the performance preset tune that is pre installed on the I-3. There is a total of 3 pre installed tunes based on Octane Level. I believe it was ( Eco, Mid, Performance). I set the Tire size + Soft Shift points. I DID not change the Speed limiter or Throttle Limiter. No other changes that were available were made. At the time is was happy because it basically got rid of the clunk when the transmission would shift at certain times upon quick on and off acceleration moments. Also the throttle response was much better. This was done somewhere around Sep of 2019. Next up was the Throttle body spacer and cold air intake. Both installed at the same time. At this point it turned into a completely different truck. I believe it cut the 0-60 down by about a second. I did notice hearing a higher amount of back pressure in the motor. It didn't seem to be enough for a concern. Also it seemed to not fall into V4 mode as much as in the past. Last was the exhaust, I had it professionally installed, They cut the 3rd Catalytic converter out added 2-1/2 pipe to approximately the same OE muffler location added the muffler a Y pipe and dual 2-1/2 pipes to (cowboy cut tips, Not that this matters). At this point I have to be pretty heavy on the accelerator to take off and its falling into V4 mode constantly. In my opinion exactly opposite when it should be. I went by a performance shop and asked some questions. they want me to pull the diablo tune and do a custom tune (Pay Me). They also mentioned there is an update for the I3 that allows you to turn off the V4 mode. When the guy connected the tuner in the truck after installing the update on the tuner from his shop PC he mentioned that it was asking for a new license purchase. " He couldn't do anything for me." I honestly was in to much of a hurry when I did the tune. I didn't really keep up with what all was going on during installing in the vehicle or even if I registered the product. Lesson learned. At this point I have contacted Diablo Sport via email awaiting a response. Basically just looking for advice on which way to go at this point. I'm currently on the fence about adding a leveling kit and after market rims and tires. Which in my mind would require another tune. Thank you ahead of time for any and all that take the time to respond.

Hello, Everyone Just Wanted to share a video I was meaning to make for some months now, I lost a GoPro Camera on the process, so I had to save for a new one to make this video. If you like the video, a subscription to my YouTube Channel is always appreciated! This is my exhaust set up -Speed Engineering Long Tube Headers (1 7/8" Primaries to 3" Collectors) -Dual 3" X Pipes -Dual 3" Magnaflow Mufflers (PN 14419) - True Dual Exhaust to 3.5" Tips This is how she sounds while towing: Brief Exhaust clips: Thank you all for watching

Hey guys n gals...new to the site. This is my second GM truck but doing a VASTLY different build on her. My first truck is an 05 Colorado Xtreme drift truck, while this one is a 2018 Sierra 1500 Z71 Prerunner build that's my daily (it's the 5.3, not the 6.2) My question is...which exhaust is better for pure, clean loud while maintaining a low, angry tone when I get on it? I know Magnaflow is a straight through so no "restriction" while Flowmaster is baffled for tuned tone. I loathe exhaust "pop n bang" like glasspacks and whatnot...so im trying to avoid sounding like every cheap, clapped out beater truck in my area. I am specifically looking for as low and angry as I can get, but clean and clear. I notice a LOT of trucks here go for the "NASCAR" sounding kits and that's a bit too high pitch for me. I can cut and dump, so I can play with how "loud" it is, but which is best for deep, low, growly sound at all times?

Replaced the stock muffler with the Magnaflow 11229 which has 3” in and out. Initially, the exhaust shop removed both flappers. It sounded very deep and rumbly but a bit louder than I preferred. The drone especially on the highway was unbearable. After emailing Magnaflow support, they recommended I have the shop put the flappers back on so I had both flappers welded back in. The flappers completely eliminated the drone but did quiet down the muffler quite a bit. Now, it’s about 70% as loud as the GM performance exhaust which is the perfect level of loudness I was aiming for. I didn’t want anything obnoxious. Sounds really good when you put your foot in it. Cold start (attached) is equally as lively. If you find the GM performance exhaust a bit too loud for you, then this mod will be the perfect volume level. Just save yourself the headache and money by having the shop install the flappers from the get go. Cost me $220 for muffler and install. $80 to weld the flappers back in. All in all, very pleased with it. AT4 Exhaust.mp4

Hello all, So I’m currently running the 12909 Magnaflow 3.5” 22 inch muffler and have been eyeballing the Magnaflow 15278 catback system for the RCSB Sierra. The problem is that the catback comes with an 18 inch muffler rather than a 22 so I expect that it’d be louder, but by how much? I currently really like the sound of the 22” muffler while running LTs and a catless y-pipe but I’m afraid that if I decide to fork out money for the catback it would just be way too loud. Anybody ever used an 18” inch Magnaflow with long tubes?

So I finally saved enough money to get myself a set of Headers and went all out on a fully built 3" exhaust system for my 5.3 Yes, maybe the 1 7/8" Primaries and the dual 3" pipes are too big for the 5.3, but the fuel milage got a bit better and I love how the truck sounds, below is the video about it. So, what do you guys think? Did I over do it or is it cool? one of the reasons I went with this set up is because I didn't seem to find anyone else who had it

Hey everyone, I need some advice! I've spent countless hours using the search function, sending PM's to members (and you guys don't need to respond again if you don't want to), and listening to YouTube videos (which suck because you can't hear what they sound like from inside the cab going down the road)...but I still can't make up my mind! I want to do a muffler swap on my truck (details in signature). I don't want to spend the money on a full cat-back system...I'm just going to swap the muffler and cut the factory tail pipe so it dumps over the rear axle. I want the sound to be deep and aggressive under acceleration....but close to stock (no drone) while cruising....and without any goofy stuff going on when it switches to V4 mode. My budget is around $200. I've narrowed my choices down to 5 different mufflers....and will explain my concerns & reasons for hesitation with each one. In no particular order: Magnaflow 22" 12589 - I'm concerned about it being too quiet (unless I'm at WOT) for people to even notice, and also worried about drone while cruising (I've heard too many people that complained about magnaflows having drone) Borla Sport 19131347 - I'm concerned about it being too loud in the cab while cruising and switching V8/V4 (or just too loud in the cab in general) Borla Touring 19131346 - Basically just concerned that it's going to be too tame, and I won't hardly be able to tell any difference from stock. Not worried about the drone with this one though. Dynomax VT 17949 - I'm worried about the spring/valve assembly breaking or rattling...and having to get it fixed or replaced after a short period of time. I like the concept, but the moving parts make me nervous. Dynomax Ultra Flo 20" 17233 - Can't find a single sound clip of this muffler on a 5.3; worried about drone and V8/V4 noise I would appreciate any advice (or sound clips) you all can provide. I'm a nervous wreck over this situation, and I can only afford to do this once! Also, please skip the comments about Corsa (I know they're awesome, but I refuse to spend that much money on a muffler) and straight pipes (been there, done that...over it). Thanks in advance everyone!

Sold my 2015 Silverado a few weeks ago and bought a new GMC Sierra SLT with the z71 package and the 6.2L v8! Had the camper shell moved over and sold the Silverado to my dad. It's been a great change so far. Nicer interior so my wife and daughter enjoy it. It's much quieter with the active noise cancellation, and the thing just SCOOTS! My 5.3 that i had before was modded and would move pretty quick but this 6.2 just puts it TO SHAME. Installed an AFE Momentum GT Intake on it a few days ago and it's even better. Just cracked 1000 miles over the weekend and it's already better on gas mileage, ride quality and everything in between than the silverado was. Very excited for the modifications to come. Looking to add some fox coilovers to all 4 corners in the next week or so, which will level it out and lift the front end. Will then upgrade to 10 ply tires, probably a good bit taller than stock. (thinking about cooper at3 XLT's currently in probably 275/65R20 or 285/60R20) Then planning to put airbags on the back for towing. Still undecided on exhaust setup, but will plan to do that and probably tune it in the future as well. Anyways, heres a pic of the truck when i picked it up. i'll post some pics of the intake after installation as well.

Thinking about doing an intake, exhaust, and tune to my new-to-me 2017 Sierra 1500 5.3L 8 speed. I miss the throttle response my 2013 6.2L had, it would lurch forward at the slightest tap of the gas. I also want to hear the engine, its so quiet! Cold air intakes seem to be disputed for having any performance gains, so are they really worth the $$$ in terms of better air flow? healthier engine? sound? any words of wisdom? Your $0.02 is always appreciated! I'm looking at the Magnaflow 15267 catback as it seems to sound pretty good for what I'm going for. I've read that there is a flap in the factory exhaust system that creates back pressure for AFM shift into V4 mode. I do like V4 mode and would not want to go away with it. How can a catback system integrate this feature? Also, what would be the rough performance improvements if any from a catback exhaust? Any other options that would sound similar and perform better/keep V4 mode for around the same price as Mgnaflow (~$800)? As for the tune, I know ZERO about tuning but do want to get rid of the rev limiter, speed limiter, get some performance gains without having to put midgrade or premium fuel in. How does the tuning process work? about how much do they cost? how can it be adjusted in the future? I assume anything like this would void some sort of warranty? Anyone do something similar and can attest to their experience with an intake, tune, exhaust?

Have a custom mid-pipe I built to install an aftermarket muffler (Magnaflow 12909) in my 2015 2500hd 6.0 truck. I removed the muffler and went back to stock so have this left over. This makes a cleaner install and saves your mid pipe if you want to revert back to stock. The aftermarket mufflers don't have as much offset as factory and the factory mid-pipe has a offset in it that accounts for that. With this straight mid-pipe it works perfect with the less offset of the aftermarket muffler and allows everything to be installed level with the truck. Here is my post about the muffler with additional info: I had this on a crew cab, 6.5' bed 4x4 truck. I'm sure other cab/bed configurations might need this lengthened or shortened but at least the hard part of the flange and hangers are done. Asking $75 for this custom mid-pipe. How it looked installed. muffler not included. Factory muffler to show the drop offset in the original mid-pipe.

On my last truck (2008 GMC 2500 6.0) and this truck (2015 Chevrolet 2500 6.0) I kinda always wanted to remove the monster factory muffler and give the truck a little tone. I read some feedback and ended up with a Magnaflow 12909 3.5" muffler. After receiving I noticed the offset isn't the same as the factory muffler and wouldn't be a direct install unless you don't mind the muffler sitting in the truck at and angle to meet up to the existing exhaust. What I did notice was the factory pipe from the flange just in front of the muffler dropped down a few inches and if that were a straight section it would make the muffler offset perfect to reach the tailpipe section. I cut the pip as close to the rear of the factory muffler and unbolted the flange. I cut the welds on the factory ball flange and the hangers to make a new intermediate pipe that will be straight. I picked up a length of 3.5" exhaust pipe from a local exhaust shop and mocked up the muffler and flange and built the new pipe. With this pipe the muffler, intermediate pipe, and tailpipe were all level with the truck. With it all installed time to try it out. At idle the truck sounded great, not really any louder that stock but a deep rumble sound. Where I started to question it was driving, I would get a drone around 1600-1700 rpm that wasn't terribly loud but enough I noticed I turned the radio up a little more than normal. Above that and north of 2000 rpm it was fairly quiet in the cab and sounded great. A friend listened outside and said it wasn't obnoxiously loud but you could tell it wasn't stock and had a great deep tone to it. I tried it for a week and finally decided the drone area, especially when towing my rock crawler, was just more than I wanted to listen too on long trips so finally just put the factory muffler back in. No one else in the 2500/3500 section really mentions drone with the muffler but I did find a guy with a 1500 6.2 truck that tried and and removed because of drone. Maybe it has to do with my blackbear tune and something going on in that range differently that the others guys here. I had to grab another factory intermediate pipe since I had cut mine up for the flanges and hangers. A buddy bought the magnaflow muffler for his ram 2500 6.4 truck but I have this straight intermediate pipe left over I thought I would sell to someone else that might want to try a different muffler with a cleaner install. Pipe is 36.5" long from face of flange to end of pipe and you can see in the last pictures where the weld was and how much fit inside the muffler. PM me if you are interested. And now for the pictures: The factory intermediate pipe with the drop down near the flange: Cut the flange and hangers off the factory pipe: Muffler and new intermediate pipe: New muffler installed: Leftover intermediate pipe for sale after cutting muffler off:

I have recently installed a K&N 71 series blackhawk intake with an airaid throttle body spacer on my 08 silverado 1500, there are no vacuum leaks and my check engine is on. Could this be from my 02 senor not used to the high flow and not reading right? I also have a magnaflow catback system and was wondering what i should do to fix this problem, ive been told a bung spacer could take the CEL away but wont run optimal and a tune would be the best for my truck so my ecu would recognize all of the new flow going on.

Well after some SERIOUS buyers remorse and thoughts of trading my truck for a loss, I am more than happy to say that I have FINALLY got my truck to where it is an absolute joy to drive and I absolutely love it. I hated the throttle response (or lack there of) and just felt like this thing was such a dog it wouldn't get out of it's own way. I have the 2015 Sierra SLT 5.3 with 3.42 gears. Stock, it absolutely SUCKS. I didn't want to ruin my warranty with a tune, and although the diablosport claims not to, I'm not willing to gamble that since I have no proof. Now, I'm glad I kept it, and I have very few complaints anymore at all with it. So what did I do you ask? Here it is: 1st I got the Range AFM delete. Can't stand v4 mode. I didn't buy a truck for gas mileage, and I think it is stupid for GM to not give us the option of turning it off. Then came the Morimoto HID kit 35W 4300K to get rid of those awful headlights Also replaced the fog lights with some really bright LED bulbs because even with the morimoto HIDs, the side of the road close to the truck still wasn't lit well. This cured that problem. Next was an Airaid MIT on the intake. Did this based on several recommendations and have to say it does make the intake sound like a truck now. Don't know that it did much for performance, I was mainly after throttle response and sound. It made a VERY slight difference in throttle response, but not enough to make it worth it if that's all you're after. Then came the game changer. The Sprint Booster. I can't even tell you how much this helped. There's simply no lag in the throttle response anymore. I didn't find much info on these after several searches and just want to let everyone know about it. If you have questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer, but man let me tell you, this was really the turning point and made me decide I hadn't made a huge mistake buying this truck. I saw a couple guys talking about it, and was on the fence for a week or so. Figured it has a 30 day money back guarantee so I had nothing to lose and it was worth a try. Couldn't be happier. Now I had to do something about the exhaust. Can't afford Corsa (which is what I wanted) after dropping the coin on the previous mods, so I went with the Magnaflow 4x9 oval 14" SI/SO muffler and got rid of the "flapper" valve thing and got rid of the resonator. It's not as loud as my 2011 with a slowmaster super 40 SI/DO, which isn't a bad thing, and it sounds like a BEAST. Don't get me wrong, I still hate the back up camera and wish I could do something about that, but other than that I absolutely love my truck now and am glad I have it. Just want to say thanks to all who contribute on this forum, because without you guys and gals I wouldn't have had a clue what to do

So, a couple months back I installed the Magnaflow cat-back, single in/dual out, exhaust system on my 2015 2500HD 6.0L Sierra (see some info/pics on the install and outcome below). http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/171270-2015-60-muffler/page-2?do=findComment&comment=1673626 Truly I am quite happy with it. Got a great deal online, sounds great, was able to install it myself with no major issues, got the dual tips perfectly aligned, etc... Fast forward about 2,000 miles. Still love it, however after moving it in my driveway I recently noticed a 3rd wet spot underneath my truck about the same size/shape/color as what had resulted in water dripping from the exhaust tips. So, I got underneath and noticed that some water was dripping from both outlet ports from the muffler. Now, the drips on each side are coming from where you clamp the rear pipes to the muffler outlets. Worth mentioning: periodically since installing, I have gotten back under the truck and checked every nut and bolt for loosening and re-tightened where necessary. There was some very slightly that tightened more after about 50-100 miles but absolutely none since then. Also worth mentioning: the outlet ports on the rear of the muffler are basically exhaust pipe diameter and stick out roughly 1", which is what you connect the exhaust pipe to, and clamp down on. The 1" that sticks out obviously is not a perfect tube; the welding imperfections stick out 1/4"-1/2". I did not want to clamp the exhaust pipe down to only half, or the tip, of the outlet port, so it is partially clamped down over welded material. I believe this is obviously why there is some water leaking, but I saw no way to avoid this. I found the point where I thought the pipe was clamped on just enough to be as solid as possible, which meant MAYBE a few mm's of weld bumps, and tightened the hell out of it. My question: how big of a problem is this small water leak, does it largely effect backpressure, performance, etc.? I am not very knowledgeable on exhaust systems as my last one was done at a local shop, but the only solution I can see is taking it to a shop and having them weld those pieces together to eliminate this issue. At that point, might they as well weld each connection together? Anyone have any other suggestions? Any and all feedback or insight is appreciated. I am pretty sure I know what a shop will tell me to do, but hoping to get the real scoop here first! Thanks!!!!

Stone Blue Metallic Blue 2015 GMC Denali customized
Johnathan Williams posted a gallery image in General/Off Topic
Hi I had my Denali truck shipped from W.V. to here in North Carolina because apparently the Blue Denali is a rare color to find already. I also wasn't a fan of the Black Chrome 22" rims so I got the 2009 version 8 spoke 22" rims to match all my chrome trim. I had a 18" MAGNAFLOW one in,two out dual exhaust straight out the back. I love the choice and we are enjoying it so far! -
