  1. The rear end replacement (I don't honestly know what they replaced, could just have been the ring/pinion. Ive gotten little to no documentation. I know, I'm an idiot) didn't correct mine. I thought they might do something to get me out of it but $4000 of trade assistance looks to be it. I'm sick of screwing with it honestly. I don't want a ford/dodge/toyota. This truck, until I drive it on the interstate, is fantastic. Rides smooth, good mpg for what it is, comfortable seats, etc. But I have a fairly expensive truck that I can't drive on the interstate. I suppose they finally beat me into submission.
  2. The new rearend hasn't been put in mine yet. The mechanic working on it has been in the hospital. (Also forgive my mechanical ignorance, what is a ring and pinion?) They had a truck on the lot I would've traded for. That 'offer' was basically a trade as though I had never had any trouble with it. In fact, he made a comment to the fact that they 'weren't holding the trouble the truck had against me'. That did not help my attitude toward this situation. At any rate, I am taking it in this Monday for the rear end swap.
  3. My service manager told me GM had to build a rear end for it. That sounds preposterous, but what do I know. Said rearend has arrived and I'm taking it in Monday.
  4. The service manager keeps telling me 'they are waiting on a good rear end'. I am not sure exactly what that means.
  5. i had 1000 lbs of feed in the back of mine Friday. Got a chance to run it up to 75, and it still vibrated. Maybe not as bad as before, but 80%+ of it. For what thats worth.
  6. I went by the dealer for another matter today. Talked to one of the 'advisors' or whatever the people that fill out tickets are called. He and I were in the room by ourselves and I apologized to him and whatnot, more making conversation than anything. He said he 'wished GM would fix this problem. They are going to have to do something'. My point is its always interesting to hear a different side (and often completely different story) from another source at the dealer. The service manager and general manager have told me slightly different stories. From 'we have had a few, the verified ones were corrected by rear ends' to 'we really haven't seen much of this'. I've dealt with this guy for years, and he was pretty candid when he was able to be.
  7. did we definitely determine if the 2500s have this as well? I debated buying a 13/14 2500 when I got mine (and oh how I now wish I would have), and if I get out of this one it will almost certainly be to a 3/4 ton of some flavor. They are waiting for a new rear end 'to be built' I think is last I heard from service mgr. Whatever that means.
  8. I just heard back from the service manager, he said they are going to put a rear end in mine. I have around 38k on it fwiw. If what I am hearing in this thread and others is correct, that is not going to fix the problem. *sigh*
  9. They said the pico said it had two bad tires. I put a new set of michelins on it, same behavior. They put the pico on it after new tires, and said i had 1 bad tire. Took back to tire shop and they said all the tires were in spec. Going back in today, the general manager said he took a truck out and verified it did not have vibration (though as far as i can tell this seems to happen after a few miles are put on truck). They are going to take the wheels and tire off new truck and put on mine then see what pico says.
  10. Holy Smokes what a thread. Mine is a 14 sierra 4x4 Z71. Vibrates randomly from 74 to 80 or so mph. I took it in about 10k miles ago and they did a 'road force balance' and charged me for it. Did no good. I haven't driven it on the interstate enough since then to be irritated by it. I now have 19k on it and am travelling on the interstate again (GoNoles) and it sucks. Judging by this thread, looks like I can forget getting it fixed.
  11. My toolbox always blocked the cargo light above rear window. These things really light up the bed nicely.
